I made and sent her card every week during the long lockdown, and then re-started when we encountered further restrictions later. She is so thrilled to receive them that it is worth the effort. We also have a text line with our boys in Boston that we use frequently and they call us every once in a while and we talk or Zoom chat. We see the twins about twice a week and lately have been keeping them overnight to give their parents a break. We've made a couple 24 hour trips into Cincinnati to see Tom's 90 year old father and help with chores around the house. So nothing really new in terms of family communication but just a lot more of our regular stuff.Donnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02164810208248213986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7153473156777468380.post-29424211067377931472020-12-28T14:12:25.284-05:002020-12-28T14:12:25.284-05:00The pandemic caused me to re-send greeting cards. ...The pandemic caused me to re-send greeting cards. I have also sent lots of email stories and asked him several questions he might research on his computer. Many of them have been about birds and religion: two topics in which he is rather knowledgeable! We have an Alexa with a screen and we use it to contact our grand-girl. Our other grand-girl lives further away and I contact her through electronic means, also. Many of us are like Lisa in that we communicate through phone calls! It was also his birthday on Christmas Day so we had a call a bit later to see him blow his candles out and sing Happy Birthday. The only other time we have not been with him is when they went on holiday abroad at Christmas so this was lovely to at least be together for his cake.

My sister works in a care home and had a 6 day shift staring Christmas Day so I could only send her a text. My kids have sent pictures and I have gone on Facebook occasionally to see what they post and to "sing" Happy Birthday to them. As far as creatively, I made some birthday cards for the grandkids and Christmas cards for neighbors, friends and family. Made the young Grandkids a paper "ornament" to hang on the tree, and for the older kids, I made money envelopes for their much loved Christmas present.
