Card Design: A Wedding Card with Nicecrane Designs

http://nicecranedesigns.com/
Good evening to all you lovely people who have taken the time to pop by and check out my latest post!  Before I get started, I was wondering if anyone else is being spam bombed?  Normally I might get anywhere from 1 - 15 spam messages a day in my main account here at DDD.  Sometimes I'll get more but usually it is pretty consistent.  For some reason though, this past Friday I received over 50 of them.  I was surprised but then it has only gotten worse.  Over the course of the weekend I received over 250 and then each day since then, I've steadily been getting close to 200 a day.  In my other blogger aliases I'm only getting the usual 1-15 so I honestly don't know why I'm getting so many on this blog alias.  It really does feel like I'm being bombed.  Is anyone else experiencing an increased onslaught or am I in the minority here?  I'm rather curious.

Anyway, enough of that, now it is time to get on with the reason for today's post.  Today I am showcasing a special request card that I made last year.
Of course the request came from my momma so I didn't get paid but at least there is someone out there interested enough in the cards I create, to order one.  Of course, she is my mother so she might be a bit biased. ;)  Now I had several projects created last year for Nicecrane Designs and decided to keep this one and post it at a later date.  Since June seems to be be when the wedding season gets revved up, I thought this month would be the perfect month to post it.  In hindsight though, maybe I should have waited a couple more weeks and then it would have been posted in time for their anniversary!!!

For this card I have used an image from Nicecrane Designs from the About Fairies and Angels II set.  I've always loved angels, my piano top is overflowing with them.  You know when you collect something and then everyone decides they'll add to your collection?  Well that is what has happened to my poor angel collection, but I digress.  So, getting back on track, as I said I've always loved angels but I do like fairies as well.  Apparently so does my momma because she really liked the images available in this collage sheet.

My momma also really liked the card design I did for the 25th anniversary card I made for the hubs last year so that is what I used on this card.  Check it out...

  • About Fairies and Angels II:  For this card I used the image you see on the bottom left hand corner.  Once again there is such a cute collection of images.  As my momma didn't want the saying that was on the image, I removed it from the card as altering is allowed in the terms of use.  Click on the name or the watermark below to take you to its location in the store.

Even Kris' daughter Carly is getting in on the new release action with this cute set.
Ice Cream Maddy is part of the Carly's CutiesTM line.

There is also a great new set of matching papers!

Just click on any of the names above the watermarks to find their location in the store.

    General Info:
    • I thought it would be fun to create another magnetic bookmark!  I don't know about you but my bookmarks have a tendency to fall out.  Magnetic bookmarks are great for ensuring that your book page stays marked.
    • Now, while it took some thinking figuring out how I was going to make ice cream and reading go together, I think I pulled it off.

    FRONT of BOOKMARK
    Digital Image Details:
    • I've used images from the Ice Cream Treats set. This set is a real sweet treat!  Not only are there ready made treats and cones but there is also a 'build a cone' section featuring various tops and bottoms.  It even has a sprinkle overlay and a cherry for on top!
    • As usual, I've chosen to work with the coloured version for this project.  I used the square bottom cone, the 'strawberry' ice cream, and the sprinkles. Just click on the name above the Ice Cream Treats watermark shown in the top section, to find the location of this set in the store.
    • I've also used a public domain image for my strawberry on top of the cone.  This image was contributed to Pixabay by Nemo.
    Digital Sentiment:
    • One I came up with.  You know me, I love a play on words.  I layered the sentiment on top of the cone and then used a layer style courtesy of Heather Green, HG Graphic Designs, on the word 'berry'.  It is a bit hard to see in the picture but the layer style actually has strawberries and blueberries in it.  I thought that was rather appropriate!

    INSIDE of BOOKMARK
    Digital Sentiment:
    • The word 'enjoy' has also been altered with that same layer style mentioned above.  Since this word is a bit bigger, it is easier to see the actual berries.

    OVERALL
    Paper Products:

    • I've also used a paper from the Blossoms and Bugs set for the background of my bookmark.  Click on the watermark below, to find the location of this set in the store.
