Card Design: Path of Positivity #29 Midway--Opportunity

Hello everyone!  It is time to show you the creation I made for the midway of The Path of Positivity Challenge.  I'll also be sharing the freebies from this month's challenge as well, which you can find at the bottom of the post.

The theme this month is Opportunity.  Like I mentioned at the start of the challenge over on the PoP blog, We are given so many opportunities in our life and it is up to us to figure out which ones we should hold on to and which ones we should let go of.  Even when things are difficult, opportunity still exists--we just have to look a little harder to find it.  Is there someone you know that needs a little encouragement to seek out their dreams and goals so they can climb the ladder to success?  Or maybe someone in your life needs a little reminder that life is all about taking chances.  You could even create a birthday card as my team member and good friend Desíre did, adhering to the idea that every birthday holds the possibility of wonderful opportunities for the year to come.

This month our sponsors are...

Next up, is the card I made using an image from Deedee's Digis...

The quote I created for the start of the challenge states, "In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity".  Even when we are going through great difficulties in our lives, it is important to hang on and see that there is opportunity to be had.  As such I've created this card to share with one of my friends who is currently in a bad place in her life.

General Info:
  • This card was created 100% digitally and then layered in a poster mockup.  It is my intention to print it out and assemble it at a later date.
  • This particular layout was inspired by a From the Hearts Stamps Sketch.

Card Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge #32...Boys Will Be Boys

Hello and a very happy Saturday to you all of you.  I've been a bit MIA this past week and a half.  Last Thursday the hubs and I finally got a way for a few days to go and visit family.  Unfortunately, while away I had a few medical conditions flare up and needless to say it wasn't our best trip away.  Nor has this past week been an easy one but I am slowly coming back around.  It is a good thing as today marks the start of our new challenge over at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog.

This time around, for Challenge #32, the theme is Boys Will Be Boys.  It is time to celebrate the men in our lives.  Fathers, husbands, brothers, uncles, nephews and friends.  Many of us have a plethora of men to choose from. For others there may just be a few.  This month create a card for one of the special men in your own life.  Many of us seem to shy away from making these more masculine projects; so, it is time to challenge ourselves and break out our images, papers and embellishments and make something manly.  Boy oh boy, we can't wait to see what you come up with!

In order to participate in our challenges you DO NOT NEED TO USE A SCRIBBLES DESIGNS IMAGE on your project but you must follow the monthly theme and the other rules that have been established for our particular challenge blog.  You can find them, along with the prize information, listed in the right hand sidebar of the challenge blog.  This challenge will end at 9pm PST on September 14th.

You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE and there is a free image over on the challenge blog as well to help get you started.  Also, be sure to check out the special Freebie Friday posts as it is another great way to build your Scribbles Designs collection.

To help inspire you, I have created a digital 'thank you' card with a masculine vibe that I will also make into a physical card as well when I get the chance.  This card features one of the fabulous sentiments offered up by Scribbles Designs.

Here are my card and all the details...

General Information:
  • This card was created 100% digitally and then layered in a poster mockup.
  • I have used an old sketch from From the Heart Stamps.
FRONT
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • Thank You Quote:  I love this fun blocky sentiment.  It provides a great set up for digital paper piecing which is what I did.  Click on the watermark below to find this sentiment in the SD store.

Digital Embellishments:

  • The shapes used for matting in behind the image and sentiment are simple shapes created in Photoshop Elements and paper pieced with papers from the Daddy Day Kit.
  • The shadows to give each element some depth were created with a layer style, also from Sheila Reid.
  • I also used a distress style from Sheila Reid to texturize the matting used in behind the sentiments.
Digital Paper Products:
  • The digital papers and elements used in this creation are all from the Daddy Day Kit created by Jeanine Baechtold a designer with  {Computer} Scrapbook.com, available as a freebie.

Here is my card, I hope that I haven't forgotten any important details:

  • The damask paper used on the front and inside, along with the shimmery cardstock used as matting, are both Michael's open stock scrapbook paper.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...

You have until September 3rd to enter our challenge which should give you lots of time to get a creation done.  Remember the theme is Anything Goes.  I really hope that you will be able to join us. Don't forget that along with all the typical rules that apply to the majority of challenges out there (please click HERE to become familiar with all the rules), you MUST USE A DIGITAL OR STAMPED IMAGE to qualify for the drawing (unless stated otherwise). We would absolutely love to see you use a Pattie's Creations (PC) image on your card, but you are allowed to use other images. If you do use a PC image, you will gain an extra entry in the draw and will have a better chance to WIN! You can enter twice per challenge and of course MUST follow all the challenge requirements that are posted for each challenge. Easy Peasy right!

Pop over to the challenge blog and check out what my fabulous teammates have offered up for inspiration.  Oh and don't forget...Pattie offers up a new freebie the first Friday of the month and it will remain up for approximately two weeks; so, be sure to pop over and check it out as well!

Journal Pages: Imagine That...Journal Cards

I'm walking on sunshine , woooah
I'm walking on sunshine, woooah
I'm walking on sunshine, woooah
and don't it feel good!!

If you happen to be a child of the 80s, you might recognize that song from Katrina and the Waves.  As I started thinking about this post, this song started flitting through my head.  I figured I'd stick it in yours as well. Hee, hee.

It happens to be the perfect song to be humming while taking a look at what is going on over at the Imagine That! Digis by Kris blog right now.  We are smack dab in the middle of summer (in the northern hemisphere anyway) and there is lots of sunshine all around.  That makes it the perfect time to celebrate one of summer's biggest gathering places--the beach!

As such Kris has created some fabulous new releases perfect for the season.  Check them out...

http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p666/Beach_Blanket_Girl.html   http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p665/Beach_Floaty_Girl.html
http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p664/Beach_Girl_Framed.html   http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p667/Beach_Combers_-_Digi_Papers.html
http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p663/Beach_Journaling_Cards_%26_Elements.html

So many wonderful options for creating summer memories.  Now, if you were to purchase all the sets within this kit, you would spend $15, but for a limited time you can get the Beach Combers Mega Kit which includes all the sets you see above PLUS four bonus surf boards for 50% OFF!!  How's that for a great summer deal?!!

http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p668/Beach_Combers_Mega_Kit.html

You can see all the new sets in the 'Featured Products' section of the shop by clicking HERE, or you can click on the individual watermarks to find their page in the store.

Now as I mentioned at the end of my last IT! DbK post, Kris has started something new.  YOU will have 5 chances of winning a New Release set just by leaving comments on designated blog posts over on the main blog all this week! The key is to look for the word 'Giveaway' in the post title.

So far this week, there have been two other giveaways and today marks the third.

First off on Sunday, Kris offered up the set, Beach Blanket Girl (you can find that post by clicking HERE).  Then on Monday, she offered up Beach Girl Framed (you can find that post by clicking HERE).  Today, the Beach Journal Cards set is on the menu (that post can be found by clicking HERE). Later this week you'll have the opportunity to win the remaining two sets.

For your chance to win, you simply need to leave a comment on the corresponding posts over on the MAIN IT! DbK BLOG, answering the question that Kris has posed for that particular day.  You have one week in which to get your comments in.  For example, the winner of the Beach Blanket Set will be announced on August 9th, the winner of the Beach Girl Framed set will be announced August 11 and the winner of today's Beach Journal Cards will be announced on August 12. So, even if you missed the posts earlier this week, you still have time to enter to win!

I had the pleasure of working with elements from each one of the sets in the new release when I put together a couple of  journal pages.  Kris' journal cards were perfect for getting some old summer memories down on 'paper'.  Check them out...

Details:

Don't miss your chance to win these Beach Journal Cards.  Click HERE to find the original giveaway post on the main IT! DbK blog.

Before you go, check this out...

Are you a fan of progressive challenges?  Would you love to earn fabulous sets from Imagine That! Digis by Kris?  Have you been wanting to join in the Digi of the Month Challenge over at IT! but just haven't been able to afford to buy in?  Well, if you answered yes to all three questions, then you are in luck this month.

August is a "Jump Back In Month", so whether you are brand new to the challenge or it's been a while since you've played along, everyone can jump in this month with a freebie from the August DOTM set!

If you would like to jump in and join us, then you can grab the freebie you see below.  Click HERE to find the current link up and the freebie.  Then if you use one of the images from this set, create a project and link it up to the challenge, you will automatically receive next month's set for free so that you can continue to play with us.  How great is that?!!

For regular players, returning players or new ones, please note that the cut off date to have your entry uploaded is now the 28th of each month.  The reason for this is that we will now be awarding one player a "Cherry on Top" Award who will win a cute blog badge & a FREE set of their choice.  These extra couple days will allow us to choose our award winner.

Don't Forget

The special Any Vendor Embellishment Contest is still going on.  Simply link up a maximum of three of your best cards featuring your favourite embellishment(s)!  Cards do not have to be new, they just have to be yours AND the card can showcase ANY vendors' images, it doesn't have to be a card with an IT! DbK image on it (although we'd love to see any that do).  Kris will draw a winner or winners (depending on the number of links we get) on August 15th who will win a $15 gift certificate to the digi shop!  So, start looking through all your old cards now!  You can find the link up and all the details you need by clicking HERE.

With so much going on, it is a great time to head on over...

Well folks, that is it for today.

Stay tuned for more Imagine That! Digis by Kris creations coming your way soon, along with all my regular features and design team posts.

Until next time,

Scribbles Designs Challenge #31 Midway Point...Birthday Bonanza

Happy Civic Day to all my fellow Canadians!!!  Hopefully most of my countrymen are getting to enjoy a long weekend!

Since it is the start of a new month that also means that it is time for the midway for the latest Scribbles Designs Challenge to get started.

There are two whole weeks left for you to come on over and enter. In case you've missed it, the theme this time around for Challenge #31, is
Birthday Bonanza.  Time to break out the party hats and light up the candles on the birthday cake. Get ready to hang the streamers and blow up some balloons too. This challenge we are celebrating birthdays. Yours, mine, a family member's, a friends, or even an acquaintances. It doesn't matter who's birthday you are celebrating or how many candles are on the cake. Just show us a creation commemorating someone's birthday. Let the birthday bonanza begin!

Entering is super simple!  You do not need to use a Scribbles Designs image; however, if you do, your name gets entered into the draw twice.  You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE or you can also find one for a limited time on the challenge blog HEREAlso, be sure to check out our special Freebie Friday posts as it is another great way to build your Scribbles Designs collection.  You can find the rest of the rules and information regarding winners in the sidebar on the challenge blog.  You have until 9pm PST on August 14th to come over and play with us.

Here are my card and all the details...

General Information:

  • Back in April I shared a free digi paper with frogs all over it and told you at that time that I had used it on the birthday card I made for my hubby.  Well, now it is time to show you that card.

FRONT
Digital Image Details:
  • Carl Gone Buggy & Carl's Pad Too:  As many of you know, I just adore Carl and since my husband is a lover of frogs, Carl makes his appearance on many of my hubs' cards.  This time around I've used Carl Gone Buggy and placed him on the lily pad from Carl's Pad Too.  I didn't want to use him just by himself so the lily pad served as a great backdrop.  Click on the names or the watermarks below to head to their respective locations in the store.
  • Carl Gone Buggy has been coloured in with Copic Markers. The lily pad and flowers have been coloured in with a combination of Copic Markers and coloured pencils.

  • Both the sky/clouds and the water were created with patterns courtesy of Webtreats, Etc.
Embellishments:
  • The tags were fussy cut by hand and added to the card.

INSIDE
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • Hoppy Birthday:  This is also one of Sandy's creations and it fit perfectly with the card.  I simply separated the two words so that I could insert "65th" in between them (I received permission to do this).

OVERALL
Paper Products:

  • Card, image and Sentiment bases: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Matting and tags are from Michael's open stock scrapbook paper.
Digital Paper Products:
  • A freebie I created in honour of my hubs' birthday.  You can find it by clicking HERE
