The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Four

It is the fourth day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest.  If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details.  Then for day two, click HERE and for day three click HERE.

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow.  I'll be sending you on a quest to find or provide me with certain facts from the stores or blogs of designers that I love.  Then, it is will just be a matter of emailing me the answer to my query and you'll earn a free digital paper.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest.  It is completely up to you as to when and how you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise) AS LONG AS all your answers are sent in no later than January 12th, 2015.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi.  Credits include: Poppymoon Design (purchased through The Hungry JPEG) and Marisa Lerin, Pixel ScrapperIn the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set!  So, how about we get started with today's clue!!!

On the fourth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number four.
Continue to follow the quest each day,
and you'll get to earn several more!!!

Task:
Head on over to the Christmas section in the digital stamp area of the Fresh Brewed Designs store and find out how many of the images in the Christmas section, have BEVERAGES (i.e. latté cups, mugs, glasses, etc.) as part of the image.   Hint:  You'll have three pages to scroll through to find your answer (you'll be able to manoeuvre through the pages by clicking the numbers at the bottom).

Click HERE to head the Christmas section now!

When you come up with a response, send an email to decossesdynamitedoodles {at} yahoo {dot} ca (be sure to replace 'at' and 'dot' with the appropriate symbols) or by clicking HERE to bring up my address in your email program, with the subject heading, "12 Days of Christmas:  Day Four".

Hope this Monday finds your heart filled with love!  See you all tomorrow for day number five!!!

Cheers!

Card Design: Path of Positivity #33 Midway--Believe

Hello there my fine friends!  Are you ready for Christmas?  I haven't even started.  I don't even have the hubs' card ready yet nor do I have any of the Christmas cards mailed because I seem to have misplaced my address book.  Yie, yie, yie, yie.  Apparently it is going to be one of those years!

Anyway, I am here to share the card I created for this month's midway for The Path of Positivity Challenge along with the freebies from this month's challenge, which you can find at the bottom of this post.  Don't forget, even if I don't show them here, you can always find two new free sentiments each month, always on the first and third Mondays of the month over on The Path of Positivity Challenge; so, be sure to check in over there.  I'd love for you to join in our challenges as well.  While the themes are different from your average challenge themes, just giving them a little bit of thought can often help you to figure out how a particular project you have, may apply to the theme.

The theme this month is all about the idea of Believing in something.  It isn't important what you believe in, only that you believe in something outside of yourself.  The great thing about the concept of believing in something or someone, is that it can cover such a wide range.  You may simply believe in the immediate people around you.  Knowing that your family and friends are there for you and have your back no matter what.  Or, your beliefs could extend well beyond your inner circle to an acceptance of a higher power that takes care and watches over you and your loved ones.  Believe in the magic of Christmas or just believe in magic period!  Show us what you hold dear to you, what you trust as absolute in your life.

This month our sponsors are...

I opted to work with an image from Pickled Potpourri designs for my card this month.  One of the images that the team chose was a beautiful image called Shine DownThe set comes with three separate elements-- an image of a young girl holding out her hands, a star and also a sentiment.  I found the sentiment so beautiful and perfect for this month's theme.
Check out the preview below to read what the sentiment says...

Shine Down
Shine Down
Isn't that a beautiful thought?  It ties into the whole idea of believing in something outside of ourselves and hoping that life continues on in some capacity after death.  I thought it would make a beautiful sympathy card.

Here are my card and details...

General info:
  • This card was created mostly digitally and then printed out.  The image was coloured by hand and then the card was assembled.

 Motivational Monday

If you are new to my blog and would like to know why I started Motivational Monday, please go HERE.

Hello and happy Monday to those of you stopping by today.  I appreciate you taking the time to come over and read what I have to say.

This evening, I'll be sharing this month's Motivational Monday passage, along with a card I created and couple freebies at the bottom of the post.

The reflection, and one of the freebies can also be found over on my Path of Positivity challenge blog as part of the midway post where the theme this month is SHARING.

 On with today's thoughts...

A Joy That is Shared Is a Joy Made Double

In this month's Pondering Along the Pathway,  Pat made reference to the idea that:
"The universe moves towards maintaining balance, so what you give to others eventually comes back to you. In fact, if you want to multiply the things in your life that matter—health, balance, happiness—you need to share what you already have!"
This is a concept that I learned about many, many years ago but I think I lost track of it for a while.  It was nice to be reminded again of how important it is share what you have with the rest of the world and if you are lucky enough, you'll benefit from the effort that you yourself have put out.

Now I know that many of us are not in a position to share too much of our money these days with the financial woes that affect people across North America and beyond.  However, it isn't always about sharing our money.  The simple act of sharing a smile with a stranger can potentially help lift that person's mood.  Can you imagine if the smile you shared ended up resulting in 1000 more smiles shared due to the ripple effect it caused?!  How wonderful would that be to know that a simple act could create so much happiness.

Or how about sharing a bit of our time with someone in need?  Whether volunteering with a charitable organization or simply spending time with someone who is going through a difficult patch, taking some time out of our busy schedules to come to the aid of another is definitely another way we can share ourselves with the world around us.

As card makers, we have the ability to do so much more sharing.  Our talents can help to lift someone's spirits with a simple 'thinking of you' card.  Sending a 'get well' card to someone recovering from illness may be just the medicine they need to give them that final push back into wellness. Sharing 'birthday wishes' with someone you normally wouldn't think to send a card to may help to bring just a bit of happiness to that person.  The simple act of creating and sending a card to someone shows that person that someone cares and that they are not alone.

Whatever it is that you share--your time, your money, your talents--remember that "a joy shared is a joy made double" (Proverbs).  If you are lucky, some of that goodness will be doubled back on you.

This month our sponsors are...
 and Limited Runs...

Next up, is the card I made using an image from Limited Runs...

True friends are a special part of life.  You can share anything with them and they won't judge you.  They'll sit back and listen.  They won't even offer advice unless it is asked for.  There is nothing better than sharing time with these special people in our lives.  As such I've created this card to share with one of the many friends I am blessed with.

General Info:
  • This card was created mostly digital and then printed out and assembled.  The hearts were added once assembled.
  • This particular layout was inspired by a From the Hearts Stamps Sketch.

Digis for Debbie Fund Raiser with Fresh Brewed Designs

Good morning and welcome to the Digis for Debbie Fundraiser Blog Hop. Recently, we learned that Mrs. Debbie Lynch, the beautiful and loving mother of Heather Dennis, owner of Fresh Brewed Designs, was diagnosed with a rare form of uterine cancer. As most of you may know, cancer related medical costs can be quite expensive in the United States, and Mrs. Debbie currently has no medical insurance, which makes the cost significantly higher. Therefore, we have decided to help raise enough money to cover these medical expenses, as well as aftercare expenses, by creating a digi shop. All the proceeds of the Digis for Debbie Fundraiser Shop and the Fresh Brewed Designs Store will go directly to Mrs. Debbie to fund her lifesaving surgery and the aftercare necessary to bring her back to wellness. Furthermore, Heather has created a Give Forward Account to assist her mother.

If you would like to help, please stop by the Digis for Debbie Fundraiser Shop, the Fresh Brewed Designs Store, and/or the Give Forward Account. For those of you who are not able to contribute monetarily, we would love for you to add Mrs. Debbie to your prayer list. If there is one thing we know, prayers can work miracles that money cannot and healing and wellness is what we are praying to receive.

The hop launches today, Tuesday, July 14th on the Fresh Brewed Designs Challenge Blog, and will run until Tuesday, July 28th @ 11:59 PM Eastern Time. All participants can be found in the linkies section of *THIS POST* on the Fresh Brewed Designs Challenge Blog, and we would love to have you join us! We do ask that you use a digi from the Digis for Debbie Fundraiser Shop or the Fresh Brewed Designs Store, and the theme is Anything Goes, and you can enter as often as you would like. Two prize packages will be awarded, one prize for a digi purchaser and one prize for a blog hop participant. Winners will be chosen on Saturday, August 1st. The prizes will consist of stamps, papers, ribbon, embellishments, etc.; plus, some random prizes will be offered by some generous blog hop participants along the hop.  Also, Cara is offering one random commenter a 12-month subscription to her awesome on-line crafty magazine, Through the Craft Room Door.  It is filled with creativity, inspiration, crafty techniques, and loads of helpful information to fuel your artistic mojo.

Thank you for dropping by and for helping us with our fundraising efforts; and again, we ask that you keep Mrs. Debbie in your prayers. Have a wonderful Tuesday, crafty friends! We look forward to admiring your creations! :)

I know all too well the ravages of cancer as it has affected and / or taken many of my family members.  My own mother battled and won her fought with vaginal cancer and continues to battle her fight with skin cancer on her scalp.  Thankfully it has been almost two months since her surgery and while she remains sore, she is healing.  Better yet, the biopsy came back with all the margins being cleared.  We are lucky in Canada that the majority of our medical costs, especially for surgeries and such are covered by our government.  Sadly it is not the case in the US.  I have heard of many families going bankrupt just to pay their medical bills so if there is any way you can help out, please do so.  Remember, even if you can't assist monetarily, helping to spread the news of this special hop and or including Debbie in your prays can still help out a lot.

I have created a special sentiment set for the hop along with a special set of papers that will hopefully be added to the fundraiser page very soon.  The sales from either of these sets will go towards the fundraising efforts.  Once again you can find all the images available for sale in the Digis for Debbie Fundraiser Shop.

Here are my contributions...

I will also choose a random person who leaves a comment on this post between now and July 28th to receive the sentiment set for free and another person to receive the paper set for free; so, be sure to leave me a comment for your chance to win!

Here is the card I have created for the hop.  I will also being sending it to Heather so that she can forward it to her mother...

Digital Image Details:
  • I have used two images from Fresh Brewed Designs. One is the wonderful Heart Hot Air Balloon that I adore so much.  I coloured this image with Copic Markers.  For the second one I took the tree image from the fundraiser set and duplicated the tops of it a few times so that it looked like my balloon was floating above the trees.  I coloured this image with coloured pencils.

Embellishments:
  • The half pearls were purchased at Dollarama.
  • The tag is a digital shape from Marisa Lerin, Pixel Scrapper, that I duplicated, added the sentiment to and then fussy cut.

INSIDE
Digital Image Details:
  • I have used one of the images from the fundraiser set to serve as accent pieces on either side of the sentiment.
