Card Design: Pattie's Creations Challenge #135...For the Boys--Use a Masculine Image

http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca

Hey folks! I'm here today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge. This time around for Challenge #135, the theme is For the Boys--Use a Masculine Image. With Father's Day coming up it's the perfect time to create a card with a masculine image. Additionally, there is always a need for birthday cards, thank you cards, friendship or thinking of you cards for the many men in your life! I know that some people have a difficult time with masculine cards so this is a good time to stretch those muscles.

Here is my card, I hope that I haven't forgotten any important details:

General Info:
  • This card has been created 100% digitally and then layered in a Mock Up (courtesy of Frisk Shop). I will print it out and assemble it a later date.

FRONT

Digital Image Details:
  • Ships Wheel Rope Circle: Such a great image. You can find it in Pattie's Etsy shop by clicking on the name or watermark linked below.
  •  This image has been coloured digitally using Photoshop Elements.

For great freebies and inspiration be sure to click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and for awesome sets for purchase, click HERE to go to the home page of the store. This sentiment has been recoloured to suit the purposes of this project.

  • The lower sentiment, "Thanks for always..." was created by me.

OVERALL
Digital Paper Products:
  • The paper I used, which couldn't have been any more perfect, is from the Nautical Kit created by Kristy B. and is available for sale in the Imagine That Digistamp store. You can find it HERE.

Digital Embellishments:
  • I have used basic shapes in Photoshop Elements to create matting in behind the image and the sentiment.
  • I have applied shadow layer styles to give certain elements some depth. These styles were designed by Sheila Reid, Pixel Scrapper.

Challenges I am hoping to enter...
You have until July 6th to enter our challenge which should give you lots of time to get a creation done. Remember the theme is For the Boys--Use a Masculine Image. I really hope that you will be able to join us. You can enter twice per challenge and of course MUST follow all the challenge requirements that are posted for each challenge (please click HERE to become familiar with all the rules). In addition to all the typical criterion, you MUST USE A DIGITAL OR STAMPED IMAGE to qualify for the drawing (unless stated otherwise). We would absolutely love to see you use a Pattie's Creations (PC) image on your card, but you are allowed to use other images. If you do use a PC image, you will gain an extra entry in the draw and will have a better chance to WIN!  Easy Peasy right!

Pop over to the challenge blog and check out what my fabulous teammates have offered up for inspiration. Oh and don't forget...Pattie offers up a new freebie the first Friday of the month and it will remain up for approximately two weeks; so, be sure to pop over and check it out as well!

Well guys, that is it for this one. Hopefully I will see you all very soon.

Until next time,

Card Design: Gerda Steiner Designs Progressive Challenge

http://gerdasteinerdesigns.com
Yup, I'm still sick but the end of the month is fast approaching so I need to get my progressive challenge cards and posts completed and uploaded.  And, yup, I've done it again.  I've gotten myself into another one! Lord love a duck.

I happened to be catching up over at my good friend Vicky's blog (aka Crafting Vicky), when I came across an adorable card that she made using an image from Gerda Steiner Design's.  I had never heard of GSD before but as soon as I saw the image I fell in love with it.  In her post, Vicky alluded to the fact that the image for the progressive challenge was currently available as a freebie.  Well, I just couldn't help myself, so I went over to take a look.  Sure enough, anyone signing up for the weekly newsletter during the month of May could receive the image.  So the fingers got to typing, surely on their own, because my brain knew better than to get involved with ANOTHER progressive challenge and before I knew it, I had received the the newest newsletter with the image plus another bonus freebie, simply for signing up.  Then inspiration took hold and voila, I now have my card done in time for Father's Day.  Check out the adorable image up for grabs this month...

I mean seriously?!  How could anyone resist that image!  This image is also currently in the shop for free.  Click HERE or on the watermark above to go and check it out.

Here are my card and details, hopefully I haven't forgotten anything...

FRONT

Digital Image Details:
  • Lion and Lamb:  You can find this image in the store.  Details above.
  • This image was coloured in with Copic Markers.  Due to the way I was feeling, I didn't take the extra time to check out how a lion is actually coloured so I have a feeling that I may have got things mixed up and that his body is supposed to be lighter and the mane darker.  If that is the case, oopsies!
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • One I created.  You know me, I can't resist a play on words!
Embellishments:

  • Both the white ribbon and the half pearls are Crafts brand purchased at Dollarama.
INSIDE
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • One to follow through from the front of the card.  Hee, hee.  I hope he likes it!

OVERALL
Paper Products:

  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Designer papers: Okay so these papers come from my stash of partially used papers.  If I felt better I could probably go looking for the pads they came from but the fact is, I barely have enough energy to sit upright and get this post out.  If you really want to know, I can find out for you, just ask.  I can tell you that everything was purchased at Michael's and is more than likely from a Recollections pad.
Challenges I am hoping entering:
Other challenges I hope to enter...
Well guys, one more post complete.  I've got one more to do for the final progressive challenge I am part of and then of course it is on to my regular team duties.  I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and that wherever you are you are happy and healthy!  Time for me to crawl back into bad so I can become the same.

Until next time,

Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenges #64--Father's Day

For several of you, in the States, Britain and elsewhere, today is a day off.  I hope that you are all enjoying this extra long weekend.  Here in Canada it is back to business and since my business these days is blogging and card making let's get right to it.

Time for this week's challenge over at the darling Digi Darla's Challenges Blog. This week for Challenge #64 the theme is "Father's Day"It is time to see all those cards dedicated to dear old dad.  Although my own poppa better not hear me call him old or else a scolding it will be for me!

Don't forget one person will be the lucky winner of FIVE Digi Darla (DD) images!  AND any entries using a DD image get entered into a SECOND drawing for THREE images. So, you could technically win eight images! That is a lot of digital delight and there have been winners who have walked away with all eight images so it isn't just a pipe dream, it can happen.  If you do use one of Kim's fabulous images make sure you let us know by writing DD after your name when you enter.

I've used the following digi in my project this week:

Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • I think that my mojo has gone out for tea with Ike's and Lisa M.'s.  Both had been in creative slumps as well (they said this, not me) but it seems that Lisa's muse is once again on talking terms with her and Ike's mojo is paying supervised visits again.  So, hopefully mine will be satisfied with a short sojourn down through the States and off to Greece to visit with other mojos.  I would certainly be refreshed with a trip like that so hopefully my mojo will be too.  I just haven't been happy with most of the card I've put together in the last couple weeks.  I felt like I hit a high note with my first ever round card but since then it has been a complete struggle with unsatisfying results. Take this card for example which is a shame since it is meant for my own father.  He may not realize it isn't my better work but I certainly do.

 FRONT

  • Dad and Daughter: Coloured using Copic markers.  ShirtYR000, YR00, YR02, YR04.  Tie & Pants:  C3, C5, C7.  Shoes:  C7, 100.  Dress:  YR02, YR04, YR07.  Hair:  E21, E31, E33, E37, E39.  Skin:  E000, E00, E02, R20.  Grounding around image:  BG10.  Ground: Watercolouring pencils.
Digital Sentiment:

  • Father's Day Best Wishes: This is another great sentiment that I picked up as a freebie from Netty's Cards. Don't forget to check them all out by visiting HERE. Check out some of her cards while you are there. She is very talented.

Some more challenges may be added to this list later this week and/or month.

So, why not come and show us what you've got by entering in our current challenge this week over at Digi Darla's Challenges?  While you are there please check out the wonderful creations from the rest of the design teamWe always look forward to seeing the delightful creations you come up with.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  As I've now added to my comment section, whether you are a regular, here for the first time or popping over in your official capacity as a DT member, please know how much I appreciate the words that you leave behind.  Your encouragement helps me to become a better designer.   I try my best to reply to your comments (when an email address is available) but that is getting more and more difficult as my plate fills up with new responsibilities, new roles, and new obligations.  If I don't get the opportunity to thank you personally, know that I don't take a single comment for granted. Thank you for your understanding.

Until next time,
