Freebie Follower #4: Happy Halloween

Don't you just love Halloween?  The thing I love most about Halloween is that for one day of the year you can be someone else. There is something about dressing up and becoming a different person that is extremely liberating especially for someone, like myself, who is an introvert. It's an opportunity to try on both a different face and a different personality at the same time and not be judged for it. To everyone who celebrates this unique occasion, Happy Halloween!

Now, on to my next 'Follower Freebie'.  This one is in honour of Deanne Clarke-Saunders who became a follower on Oct. 29th.

I've created three different colour versions of the same design:  one in black and white; one in black and orange; and one in black and yellow.  I couldn't decide which one I liked the best so this way you can choose the colour preference of your choice or all three.  It's up to you!

The font used in this design is called Waking the Witch.  Now this font is classified as personal use which can mean a lot of different things depending on what the originator feels falls in the domain of personal use.  According to the font usage terms on the website where I got the font, they classify personal use as "usage that does not generate financial income in a business manner".  They break it down into more detail but the gist is you can't make money from what you create.  So, I believe that I am safe in using it here in this design and offering it to all of my wonderful readers.

Hope you like it!

Until next time,

Follower Freebie #3

I'm just so giddy!  Thanks to all of you who have left such beautiful comments over the last few days.  They are so very much appreciated.

Now, on to my next 'Follower Freebie'.  This one is in honour of Sandy who became a follower on Oct. 29th.

If you are going to laugh, at least turn your back so I don't see you.  This is my FIRST EVER attempt at creating a digital stamp using Inkscape™ and a Bamboo® Tablet.  I am just learning how to use a pen and tablet to draw.  There is a serious learning curve.  I feel like a six year old just learning to write.

I have created a maple leaf to celebrate autumn before it is gone.  The majority of our trees up here in northern Ontario have lost a significant number of their leaves.  Given the winds out there the last couple of nights (even up here we're receiving the effects of the hurricane), I am not sure there will be any leaves left by morning.

I wanted a backdrop for an autumn quote that I like and a leaf was appropriate for this situation.  I'm giving you three choices:  quote with leaf, quote on its own and leaf on its own.  I've only done the images in PNG format.  If anyone would prefer a JPG just email me and I'll try to accommodate you.

The fonts I used in creating this sentiment are LS Leaves and leaf1.

Hope you can find use for one or more of them.

Thanks for the Love & Follower Freebie #2

OMG!

When I logged on today to check out my stats I was completely overwhelmed.  At the time of writing this post I've had 250 visitors. 250!  Yesterday I had one.  I must have shouted OMG at least 10 times.  I was so loud even my husband who was downstairs wondered what was going on.

Not only that, but I now have six followers!  I was so excited after just my very first one.  Then, yesterday afternoon, I got a second and was overjoyed.  Today after four more of you wonderful people out there deciding to become followers, my heart is doing a little jig!

Yesterday afternoon, I decided to offer a new freebie every time someone became a follower (don't worry I'll be offering freebies at other times too)
.  I started working on it but life interfered.  Then, last night I had to get my 'grateful' card ready and linked up to all the challenges I wanted to enter it into.  That alone took five hours so I didn't get a chance to continue to work on my new freebie.  I don't know how all of you do it.  There just isn't enough time in the day to take care of household duties, catch up on all the blogs I follow, work on my own blog and then create on top of that!  Sheesh, I'm exhausted even thinking about it.  I've figured out that I need at least five full time versions of me around the house to accomplish everything I have to do each day.  I'm obviously going to have to develop better time management skills which is a little ironic considering I used to teach others how to manage their time.  If anyone has any tips on how to keep on top of everything in the blogging/ creating world I'd sure appreciate it.

Anyways, for now in honour of my second follower, nevrotik, I offer you a freebie that I posted a couple of weeks ago on my website.  This sentiment was created for a Thanksgiving card.  I'm offering two versions of it:  one in the colours I used for the actual card; the other in black and white. In the meantime I'll continue working on the freebie I already started. However, I better get moving since I now have three more on top of that to get created!

These sentiments are created using Trebuchet MS and Scriptina ProHope you enjoy and can get some use out of one of these.

Once again thank you so much taking the time to come and see me and check out my work.  I am very honoured that you have done so.

Until next time,

Nail Art Design: Have You Seen My Mummy???

Just in time for Hallowe'en I have a new design.  I call it, "Have You Seen My Mummy?".  Okay, I know it is a cheesy title but I just couldn't resist.  It is inspired by a design from 'Dying 4 Chocolate'. Hers of course look much neater than mine.  It is difficult to draw thin precise lines on one's own nails especially on the opposite hand.  I wish I had people to practice on.  I am willing to do it for free, but unfortunately, nobody wants to take me up on the offer.  Oh well, in the interim I guess I'll just have to keep practicing on my own nails...
  Instructions:
  • Start with a clear base coat to protect the nails.
  • Apply one coat of solid white.
  • Mix some white and gold and sponge onto nails to give it an antiqued look (sorry it's kind of hard to see that in these pictures).
  • Using a nail art pen or striper, add the black lines.
  • Create a black 'window' for the eyes.
  • Paint on two oval shaped objects to represent the eyes.
  • Using a nail pen or a dotting tool dipped in black, add the pupils.
  • Make sure it is completely dry before applying two coats of a durable protective top coat.  I apparently was impatient and mine streaked a bit, I'll blame my husband who was yawning away on the couch beside me and so I rushed it (he has broad shoulders, he can take it).
Here is a closer look, just skim over all the boo-boos:
I hope to add the pictures of all my previous designs soonMy most recent fall design is on my website; the previous ones are still up on 'Cool Nails Art'.  It will take some time to consolidate everything over here.

Until next time,

A Freebie In Honour of My Very First Follower!

Hello,

I am so excited!  I have my very first follower!  Now you may be wondering why I'm jumping up and down over one person.  However, considering I never thought that anyone would ever bother with my blog,  even one follower is a huge deal to me.

So, in honour of Lyn from Spectacular Printable, I have created a special set of freebies to celebrate this occasion.

I thought that this sentiment could be used on the front of a card:

I've provided an alternate with only two ghosts in case you think that three is too many:

I thought that this sentiment could be used on the inside of the card:

I hope that any or all of these sentiments prove useful for at least one person out there.  The underlying font is called 'Sketch Bones' and it is in the public domain (available from http://www.fontspace.com/character/sketch-bones.)

Until next time,

P.S.  Don't forget that if you use an image PLEASE:
  • Do not claim the image as your own.
  • Credit 'Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' somewhere on your creation
  • Do not share my images with family, friends, etc.  Additionally, do not post any images to file sharing services like Pinterest®, 4-Shared®, etc.  Instead, please direct people to my blog so they can grab the image for themselves.

Welcome To My New Blog...

Less than 10 days into my blogging career and I'm already having to change how I do things.  If any of you have come over from my original site, I'm so glad you have found me here.  If you are new to my posts, then a big welcome.  However you got here, I am just so very happy that you came!

I recently created my own website where I wanted to display card designs, nail art, and other creative endeavors.  I also wanted to have a place where I could share digi stamps that I plan on creating.  While I'll have the occasional freebie sentiment available for you to download in the near future, I'm afraid that it will be awhile before I am able to offer other digi stamp designs.  That will be a work in progress lined up behind everything else I have on my plate right now. Let's just add that to my list of future goals...

Anyways,  if you have visited my old blog, you might have noticed how basic things were.  There were just too many things that I couldn't do...
  • I wanted to have followers--the best I could offer was a mailing list to let people know when I'd posted something new.
  • I wanted to add a field in the comments section for people to add their email address and/or website address if they wanted--couldn't do that.
  • I had someone request that I turn of 'word verification' because she was afraid that I would lose out on a lot of comments otherwise--couldn't do that either.
  • There was no way to create a post archive so if someone wanted to go back to a post from a couple of weeks ago, they had to keep hitting the 'previous comment' button.
  • There was no way to do a search within my blog.
  • There was no way to create labels to make it easier for people to navigate through the site.
And the list goes on...

Suffice it to say, I came to the conclusion earlier this evening that if I wanted to create a place where people were able to navigate through the site much easier, I needed to find a new location for my blog.

So, voila!  I have a new home on BloggerTM.  I still have my old website and I'll preface the existing blog over there with a link to my new home over here.  This way, anybody who wants to continue to check out new posts can start following me here but I'll still have a place to keep my image galleries.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.

Until next time,
