Card Design: Gerda Steiner Designs Progressive Challenge...July

Hello there!  I'm afraid I'm not feeling the greatest again.  Man, this has been a lot tougher of a year so far with many of my health conditions flaring up in one way or another.  My body needs to start listening to my head because I just don't have time for this nonsense.  Or I suppose my head needs to start listening to my body but I'm afraid that one is a lot tougher to pull off!

Anyway, the one thing I have managed to pull off is getting my entry into the Gerda Steiner Designs Progressive Challenge.  Check out the cute mermaid that we got to work with this month...

Blog Hop: Vintage Vacation with TLC Creations

Hello everyone!  It is officially summertime in North America and other parts of the northern hemisphere.  As such, it is often a time of vacation and travelling for many.  Now, if you're stuck at home this summer then this bloghop is for you--travelling without all the hassle and you get some great freebies to add to your TLC collection as well!

Many of us on the Create with TLC Design Team will be hosting a spot during the blog hop. All of us will share a creation that we have made using at least one if not more of Paulette's elements and just YOUR luck, the image that we all use will be available for free download on each blog hop stop along the way!

You should have arrived here from the talented Karen's blog.  If you are just starting, you can find a full list of all the hop stops at the bottom of this post.

For my card, I got to use the Bon Voyage Waving Goodbye image you see below; so, be sure to head on over to Paulette's BLOG and leave her some love if you grab it!

To save image, left click to bring it up in the lightbox in its full size and then right click and scroll down to 'save image as'.

Screen Saver Design: Time to Leap into a New Release Giveaway over at Imagine That! Digistamp

Shop Our Digis!

Hey folks! For those of you in the throes of summer I hope that you are staying as cool as possible.  For those of you experiencing fall or winter right now, maybe we could exchange our weather patterns for a bit of a break! ;)

Although I can't complain too much. While the humidity has been hovering around the 36-38 degrees Celsius mark all week, we haven't breached the 40s quite yet.  We only have a small air-conditioner upstairs this year so we've definitely been a bit uncomfortable.  Up until this past week we've been lucky--having a few hot and humid days and then getting a couple days where there is a break.  Tomorrow, the temperature is supposed to drop down to 19 but then starting Sunday it appears to be on an upward trajectory again for the next couple weeks. Hopefully Mother Nature will have pity on us and give us some breaks to allow the house time to cool down.

Anyhoo, earlier today I posted the latest new release giveaway over on the Imagine That! Digistamp blog and due to the special nature of the set, I created something unique for my hubby.  This particular new release set is close to my heart as it was a request I made to Kris. My husband, Raymond, is a French Canadian born in northern Ontario, and he absolutely LOVES frogs! While throughout history many people have used the term Frog as an ethnic slur against French people, my hubby embraced it! I can't even count how many he has in his collection at this point.

So, I asked Kris if she would make a set showing a little boy with brown hair surrounded by his froggy friends and voilà, Raymond's Frogs was born! Both the set, and the post over on the ITD blog and of course here, are dedicated to the man who inspired it.  Check it out...

Isn't Raymond just so cute?  I love the expression on his face as he hangs out with his pals! I even created four of the sentiments that appear in the set!

Well, I just had to create something special for my hubby using this set so I designed a screen saver for him. One of the items that he covets is an IPad. He has been talking about getting one for several years; problem is that we just can't afford to waste money on one. So, instead he has an imitation version but for now it suits his purposes. Hopefully, one day I'll find a way to make his IPad dream come true but for now, he'll have to settle for an IPad screen saver instead.

I liked the idea of using the IPad, not only for the reason mentioned above but also for the double entendre of frogs living on lily pads.  I hope that the hubs likes his surprise.

Here are the deets of my project...

General Information:
  • This screen saver was created 100% digitally and then layered in a poster mockup (courtesy of Designbolts) for display purposes.
Digital Image Details:
  • Raymond's Frogs:  I have used the pre-coloured image from this set. To find this adorable set in the store, click on the name found to the left or above.
  • The background in behind the image was added digitally. Credits include:

Fonts Used:
  • Gallimaufry font created by Missy Meyer (free font)
  • Amelia Ornaments font created by Maroon Baboon (purchased as part of a limited time bundle however the font may be purchased individually as well)
If you are interested in either of these fonts, simply click the name to be brought to their location.

Hello my friends!  I'm just popping in to let you know that the latest freebie is available over on the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog for all of our Freebie Fridayer fans!

A couple of days ago, my girlfriend was telling me that she has replanted a number of sunflowers in her backyard and that conversation inspired today's offering. Back in March of 2014, Sandy offered up a fabulous sunflower image as a freebie. You can find both the original image AND the paper you see below in the preview, by clicking HERE. The original image can also be found in the store HERE

Here is a preview of the paper...

Another creation under the Scribble Doodle Designs label! This free paper is six inches by six inches (1800 pixels x 1800 pixels)--the perfect size for card making!  It is in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: The CoffeeShop Blog; and of course, Scribbles Designs. As mentioned above, you can download it over on the challenge blog as today's Freebie Friday offering.

Don't forget to mark you calendars every Friday to head on over to the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog to grab the latest freebie up for grabs.  You can find the original image and the digi paper from July 8th's post HERE.  It is a great way to add to your SD digi stamp collection and to your Scribble Doodles Designs collection.  Don't forget, that when you use an SD image on a project that you enter into our monthly challenges, you get extra entries!  That is a great incentive to use one of Sandy's images.
