Time is Running Out to Complete The 12 Days of Christmas Quest for 2020!

Hello there folks. I hope that you are all doing well on this ninth day of the first month of the year! I am just popping in to remind you that you still have until the end of day on Tuesday (Jan. 12th) to get your TASKS submitted for this year's 12 Days of Christmas which officially ran from Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th. As that 12 day period was a busy time for people I extended the deadline date by a week.

While I haven't had a chance to tabulate all the comments to see how many people participated this year, I definitely saw some familiar faces play along and a couple new ones as well which was really great to see! Hopefully I can send out the papers by month's end. I still have 62 comments to go through (got through another 30 yesterday), and have to compile all the stats and gather the email addresses that I need as well. Thankfully, I did get all the info compiled for the master list of the credit info earlier today so the full kit has been put together, zipped and is ready to go. I promise to send out the papers and/or kit to those who participated during the quest, as soon as I can find the time to compile the rest of the info.

If you are just hearing about the quest and you want a chance to earn up to 12 digi papers, be sure to get your TASKS submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST, Jan 12, 2020.

Here is a preview of the full set of papers:

Remember, you don't have to participate every day. If there is just one or two particular papers that you'd like, you only need to complete the tasks for those days. The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Twelve

Well folks, the final day of Christmas is here! I really hope that you have enjoyed the quest during these last 12 days. Thanks to those of you who decided to play along this year! I plan to start sending out the papers to all the people who played this year, some time in the next week. Your patience, as always, is appreciated. And of course you still have a full week to get your TASKS completed and added so there is still lots of time to play.

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow. I'll be asking you questions to find out how the pandemic has impacted your life over the last year--how it has affected you, what things you've had to do differently, how you've had to adjust your life--that kind of idea. You will be able to leave your daily answer in a comment on the post for each respective day. If you follow the instructions for each day, you'll earn a free digital paper.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest. It is completely up to you as to when you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise). AS LONG AS ALL your TASKS are submitted, no later than January 12th, 2021, then you will qualify to receive the paper(s) for whichever day(s) you participate.

Please note, that while some of you have kept up with your answers, you might not see the set for a few weeks. Unfortunately, I'm rather behind at the moment. I still have 72 comments to go through and copy and then still have to chart who participated on which particular day(s). While I have kept up with the individual credit information for each paper, I also now have to compile it all into one document for those that have earned the full set. All of this will take some time and I have to keep up with my regular duties at the same time. I promise to get the set or individual papers out to those who've earned them, as soon as I can possibly manage. I will post on my blog when I have done so just in case there are any issues with mail.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: Salted Galaxy and Julie Campbell Designs (both via DesignBundles). In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's clue!!!

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn your very last one.
I hope that the quest was worth it,
and if nothing else, you've had a little fun!!!

Task:
Today's task is different. I do really appreciate you playing along this year and painting a picture of how you've handled the past year along with sharing some of the lessons you've learned from your experience. Today however, as I traditionally ask on the last day of each quest, I want you to TELL ME THE NAMES OF YOUR THREE FAVOURITE DIGI PAPERS FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE QUEST. You can click the links above to see each of the different papers offered if you need to refresh yourself as to what they look like. The names of each individual paper is located at the bottom of the white area on the preview images.

So, I'm obviously a bit biased on this one since I made them and they are ALL my babies! 😉 However if I have to choose, I will say that my favourite paper from this year is the A Bird's Christmas one that was offered up on Day 9. It is also the paper that took me the longest to create and at one point I wasn't sure I was ever going to get it completed. It took close to two hours just to come up with the layout of images that I was happy with. However, due to the number of elements involved (believe it or not there are a total of 18 separate images used), Photoshop kept giving me problems with 'scratch disk errors' (which have to do with the drive used for scratch disks being low or out of available space). Instead of grouping things and moving a whole row or more at a time like I typically do (to make sure everything is even), when it came to the last row of the paper, I had to move individual images two or three at a time. Well that took another two hours just to move one group! At that point I actually had to abandon the paper and come up with a different one in order to get one posted on time. That paper was originally intended for Day 7! Then, the next day I couldn't even open the paper so went with a different idea for Day 8 as well. Thankfully, I also have a design program called Affinity Photo that will open PSD files. It was my last chance to get the A Bird's Christmas paper finished. I wish I had thought of it sooner because it opened fine in that program and allowed me to move items as a group. I guess the fact that I put so much time and energy into the paper is the real reason it is my favourite. Up until Day 7 I had been about two days ahead but due to that one paper taking so long I ended up getting behind. For the other two I'll say the Jolly Elf paper from Day 1 (I just adore that image) and the Joyful Gingerbread paper (he really puts a smile on my face). Once again I managed to find some fun and unique images in my collection this year and hope that you all like what I've come up with!

When you come up with a response for today's task letting me know your THREE FAVOURITE DIGI PAPERS FROM THIS YEAR'S QUEST, simply leave your choices in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. If you are new to the quest or are not sure whether I might have your email address, please be sure to also leave your email address in your comment. If you would prefer to keep your address private, then check out the bottom paragraph from Day 1 for how to send it to me.

Thank you again to those individuals who joined in the quest these past twelve days. Please be sure to follow me so you don't miss any future freebies! You never know when the next one will be offered!

Cheers and best wishes for the year ahead!

On the eleventh day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number eleven.
It is a very well know fact that, all good designers
and card makers go to heaven!!!

Task:
It’s fair to say that 2020 was a year like no other for the world. However, among all the challenges we faced, there were also things worth celebrating. What is ONE celebration from 2020 that is worthy of remembering?

For myself, the one celebration worthy of remembering was my hubby's 70th birthday. It was in April so the big dinner event we were trying to plan went out the door. Hubby is one of those people that if you can't have a party on the actual day, then he doesn't want one at all. Thus, I was left with trying to figure out how to make the day special when we were in the middle of a lock-down. Thankfully, my best friend was available to help out. She made a birthday cake for him and also picked up a 70th birthday banner and some balloons that I put up while he was at work. I was lucky that she had a connection with a local dollar store owner who was willing to open up and do a curbside sale. I also reached out to all of hubby's siblings and asked them to call him on his special milestone birthday. Afterwards, he told me that his day was even more special than if he'd been able to go out and spend the evening at a restaurant with his family members. Thus, it was definitely a highlight from 2020!

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your response in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. If you would prefer to keep your address private, then check out the bottom paragraph from Day 1 for how to send it to me.

May the happiness you experienced during the holidays, last the whole year through! See you all tomorrow for day number twelve, the final day!!!

Cheers!

On the tenth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number ten.
I'm running out of things to say, so I'll just say,
good tidings to all animals, children,

women & men!!!

Task:
This past year has given us an opportunity for a lot of reflection. What is the most surprising thing you've learned this year either about yourself, your family or a new skill that you picked up?

For myself, I've always know that I was empathetic. Now while that is often a positive trait, I found that my empathy was on overload and I didn't know how to shut it down. At times it felt like I could feel the whole world's pain which was completely overbearing. I had to find a way to function because I couldn't manage like that. In a million years I would never have guessed that there was such a thing as having too much empathy but I found myself surprised by this very fact.

On the ninth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number nine.
We're nine days in, just three more to go,
All in all, I think it is going just fine!!!

Task:
In our lives we have a tendency to take certain things for granted, expecting someone or something will always be there. The pandemic has certainly helped to put certain things into perspective. What are THREE things that you will never take for granted again?

For myself, I try not to take the people in my life for granted, especially my husband and all the wonderful things he does to help me out. However, that doesn't mean there are other things that I haven't taken for granted at one point or another. One thing that I definitely took for granted was the ability to go and see my parents whenever I liked. I won't make that mistake again. The second thing I won't take for granted is being able to go out and simply get a haircut. I was due for a haircut back at the beginning of March when everything shut down for three months. Then, given the nature of how close you have to be to another person while getting one's hair cut, I decided to wait for the numbers to settle down over the summer. Well, unfortunately, by the time that the summer was done and we were heading into fall, the numbers got worse and worse. Just yesterday our numbers in Ontario were over 3000! The highest yet. It has now been over a year since my hair has been cut and well...long hair is NOT a good look for me. Our province is back in lock down. Even when we do open up again, I have no idea when I'll feel safe enough to go out and get a haircut but is definitely something I won't take for granted again! The third thing I will never take for granted again is being able to give someone a hug. I'm a big hugger and since we can't come in contact with another person outside of our household the only person that I've been able to hug in the last year is my husband. At least I had someone to hug but it is definitely on the list of things I won't take for granted in the future!

The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Eight

Hello and happy New Year everyone! It is a brand new year full of wonderful amazing possibilities! We just have to wait and coast until most of the world can be vaccinated and then we should start seeing a real difference. Fingers crossed that by the time the New Year rolls around NEXT year, we will ALL be in a better place!

It is the eighth day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details.

On the eighth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number eight.
We've been at it a while now, so you'll have to
let me know how I rate!!!

Task:
It is a brand new year and with the creation of the vaccine, there is hope that 2021 will be a better year. What is something you are hoping to do this year, that all the concerns and restrictions in place for the virus, prevented you from doing last year?

For myself, that is the most simplest of answers: visit my parents. My hubby and I live about a 7 and 1/2 hour car drive from my parents. We live in northern Ontario and my folks live in south-western Ontario. While the north has faired relatively well, the south has not. My mom turned 76 in March and my dad turned 80 in May. They both also have different forms of cancer and other health conditions to boot. There was no way I was risking potentially coming in contact with the virus on our trip down (because we always need to stop several times to accommodate my pain issues) and possibly passing it on to my parents. The hardest time for me was in the late fall when my mom ended up in the hospital for a month and my dad was alone when he shouldn't be due to his propensity to have bad falls. With Covid raging, there was no way for us to go down and help out and it almost broke my heart [and me in general]. So, as soon as my parents are vaccinated and we know it is safe to travel (I have my own health issues to worry about), we'll be on our way!!!

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your response in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. Hope this first day of the year is the start of a much better one for you and yours! See you all tomorrow for day number nine!!!

Cheers!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! Let us hope that this year is a much better one than the previous one was. We normally each have our own issues to deal with but this past year we became a global family all battling one very bad situation in particular. With the new year upon us, it is filled with so many possibilities. I hope that we can leave the tragedies of 2020 behind and look forward to health, happiness and prosperity in 2021!

Let's start off the new year with a freebie, shall we?!!
