Card Design: Ike's World Challenge #16...Things with Wings

A lovely early Tuesday morning to you all.  It is time to share the new Ike's World Challenge.  This fortnight the theme is Things with Wings.  It is the perfect time for me to get another Christmas card added to the pot.  This will make it two for April which means that I've met my personal goal this month for the 12 Months of Christmas link up.  I especially like that I've managed to come up with a non traditional holiday card.  I always enjoy when my brain thinks out of the box.

Christmas Card Count to date: 8

Remember, you can join in Ike's challenge with a creation using any kind of medium or style but in order to qualify to win the prize you MUST use an Ike's Art image. You can find some fab ones in the store HERE.  There is also a freebie available over on the challenge blog that you can use to enter the challenge but please be respectful of the artist's rights and do not post, pin or share the image with anyone else. Instead, if you know some people who might like it, send them over to the challenge blog so they can pick it up for themselves.

Here is my project...

 Digital Image Details:
  • Angel 2: You can find it in the 'People' section of the Ike's Art store or by clicking on the name or watermark below.  I thought that this image suited itself so well for a nice peaceful Christmas card.  I am glad my instincts were correct.
    • I have coloured this image with Copic markers.  Skin:  E000, E00, E02, R20.  Hair: E21, E23, E25.  Dress: R32, R35.  Rock: C1, C3, C5. Wings:  Iridescent coloured glitter.  The overall image was grounded with the colourless blender and BG000.
  • The flowers are from a stash I got from my momma.
  • The edging on the brown paper that I used as a decorative strip is an EK Success punch I believe.  There is no name on the punch so I am not 100% sure.

Digital Sentiment Details:

  • This fabulous sentiment was created by Paulette from Create with TLC. Click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store.

Paper Products:

  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Designer papers: Both the pinky/brown and brown damask papers are from the Recollection's Paisley and Damask Paper Pad.
  • Matting & decorative strip on front: Purchased at Dollarama.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...

What will you create using one of Ike's wonderful images? You have two weeks to pop over to Ike's World Challenges and play along with us in our Things with Wings challenge. Card Design: Imagine That...Progressive Challenge for April

It is time to upload my creation for the Imagine That Progressive Challenge.  I am so lucky that I am part of this wonderful progressive challenge.  Kris is an amazing designer and I just love getting a chance to earn her fabulous new sets each month by linking up.

This month the image that everyone who is part of the progressive challenge gets to play with, is the cute Ladybug Boots & Daisies Planter.

This is such a unique image and as always, you get the option of working with either the colour image or the line art one or even both, like I did a couple of months ago!  You can even just work with a set of plain boots.  This particular set also comes with seven different sentiments!  Kris always provides such great variety.

Here are my card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Comments:
  • This month I opted to work with the precoloured version of the stamp.  Time has not been my friend and with having to complete seven cards in a one week period, I needed to save a bit of time somewhere.
  • This card has also been designed 100% digitally and then printed out and assembled as a physical card.
  • For the front of my card, I used a sketch from From the Heart Stamps.  I just love their sketches!

Digital Image Details:
  • Ladybug Boots & Daisies Planter:  If you don't have it, this set is available in the store for purchase at a discount for the remainder of April. Click on the image name or the watermark above to head to its location in the store.
  • As I mentioned above, I used one of the pre-coloured versions.
Digital Sentiment Details:

  • One available in the set.  I coloured it to match the green in the card.
Digital Embellishments:
  • The daisies on the front were created using a template from Kathryn Estry's Flower Factory kit obtained at Professional Scrap Designs.
  • The leaves were created using a template from Sheila Reid, a designer with Pixel Scrapper.
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • This wonderful sentiment was created by Paulette from Create with TLC.  Click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store.
Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white
Digital Paper:
  • The dotted paper is from the Bloom kit designed by Rachel Dickson from ComputerScrapbook.com, and is still available as a freebie.   I adjusted the colour to better match the colours within the image.
Digital Embellishments:
  • I created and layered two basic square shapes to serve as matting in behind the image on the front and the sentiment on the inside.  I also created one to serve as matting for the sentiment on the front.  All these shapes were adjusted simply with bevels.
  • I also created three lines and then adjusted them using a layer style from Shelby Kate Schmitz of graphicssoft.about.com
Challenges I am hoping to enter...

I encourage you to go and check out the digis that Kris offers along with the Progressive Free Digi Challenge.  It is another fun place to shop and play.

Well guys, one more card and post done. That is three down and just four more to go by Wednesday!  I'm off to send out Christmas papers to a couple more people and then it is time to move on to getting those projects done!

Until next time,

Card Design: From the Heart Stamps April Challenge

It is time to post my project for the April,  From the Heart Stamps progressive stamp of the month challenge.  In order to enter the progressive challenge, you must either have received the latest image by having participated in the previous month or you can buy the stamp for the current month's challenge.  Everyone who enters and follows the rules is a winner because you automatically get the stamp for the next month's challenge.  Stop by the site and check out the rules for yourself.  While you are there, have a look around.  They have some really great images.
This month, I decided to do something different.  I thought that the image we were given, leant itself well to creating a bookmark.  Now I don't really have the proper diecut, electronic or otherwise, to create an interestingly shaped bookmark so I decided to use a label shape.  It is a bit bigger than your average bookmark but I think it will still function well as one.  Check it out...

Digital Image Details:

  • As you can see from the watermark below, the image is all one piece.  I just thought that it would be cool to split it and use part on the front and the other part on the back.  You can find Spring Medley, available for purchase over at From the Heart Stamps.  Click HERE or on the watermarks below to go to its location in the store.
  • It was coloured with Copic markers.  Leaves: G00, G02.  Flowers:  RV10, RV11, RV13, Y00, Y02, Y04, BV000, BV00, BV02.  Grounding around flowers: BG000.
Embossing Folder:
  • The floral pattern on the bookmark base was created with a Goosebumpz embossing folder using my wonderful Big Shot machine.
Cricut Cartridge:
  • The bookmark base was cut using the Lacy Labels cartridge.
  • The ribbon, paper flowers on the front and gemstones on the back are all Crafts brand purchased at Dollarama.
Paper Products:

  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, Soda Pop collection.
Challenges I am hoping to enter:
Thanks for popping by everyone!  I hope you enjoyed my project and post.  It is time for me to start working on my next card.  Unfortunately, I miscounted and instead of it being four more projects due by next Wed., it is actually five.  I'm really not sure how I am going to pull this off.  Hopefully, a little luck will be on my side.
Until next time,

Card Design: Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #45

Oh goodness.  I'm going to be rather busy creating cards this next week and a half.  Having had to spend so much time working on my computer system has left me with a short window of time to get at least seven more projects created in the next week.  Man, I better get moving!

Thankfully, at least my entry into the latest Doodle Pantry challenge is complete.  This month I created another thank you card.  I have so many generous people in my life now and I need to create a few more thank you cards for recent gifts.  Once again I have relied on two separate kits that I have received from Doodle Pantry.

Remember, Doodle Pantry challenges are unique.  If you use a Doodle Pantry image (not just a sentiment) then not only will your name be entered for a final prize coupon BUT you will also get the featured product for free.  That is pretty darn incredible!!!  Now of course, you are welcome to submit cards following the rules and theme using an image from any digital company but you will only be entered into the draw for the final prize coupon.

Check out the amazing featured product up for grabs in this month's challenge, for those who do enter using a Doodle Pantry image...

This set is going to have so many uses.  Everything from more thank you cards to sympathy cards and everything in-between.  Flowers can be used on almost any kind of card!  Doodle Pantry offers up such fabulous incentive to create a card and enter the challenge.  Everyone is a winner AND unlike progressive challenges where if you miss a challenge you lose the opportunity to play in future ones, the challenge at Doodle Pantry is set so that ANYONE can enter at ANY time, and still have the opportunity to earn the freebie package (following the rules of course).
Here are the great kits I worked with for this month.  Check them out...

The pre-coloured image and sentiment I used on the front of the card, along with the paper used in the background, are available in the Goose Me set which I received for taking part in a previous challenge.  To purchase it, click HERE or on the watermark above to head its location in the store.

I used a sentiment from the So Thankful set for the inside of my card.  To purchase it, click HERE or on the watermark above to head its location in the store.

Here are my card and details, hopefully I haven't forgotten anything...

Digital Image and Sentiment Details:
  • Both from the Goose Me set.  Details included above.
Digital Embellishment:
  • I used a tag shape template from Marisa Lerin, a designer with Pixel Scrapper.

Digital Sentiment Details:
  • One from the So Thankful set.  Details above.

Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
