Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenge #77--Anything Goes with a Twist

Today marks the start of the newest challenge over at the delightful Digi Darla's Challenges Blog. This week for Challenge #77 the theme is "Anything Goes with a Twist".  We are working on Nick's final theme for this month and once again she has come up with an interesting one.  The twist is that you MUST use a digital image, have a bow on your card and there also must be at least one butterfly.  How's that to get the creative juices going?!

As always, one person will be the lucky winner of FIVE Digi Darla (DD) images!  AND any entries using a DD image get entered into a SECOND drawing for THREE images. So, you could technically win eight images!  If you do use one of Kim's wonderful images make sure you let us know by writing DD after your name when you enter.

I've used the following Digi Darla's digis in my project this week:

Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Comments:
  • I honestly didn't think I was going to get this card completed in time.  With being so ill this week, I've lost sooooooo much time and am now so far behind, I'm not sure I'll ever catch up!  I just have to hope that I don't miss anything too important along the way.  I'm still not feeling the best and still have no voice but it is definitely a little easier to breath which is always helpful.
  • This is going to be a wedding card for one of the hub's thousand nieces and nephews.  In this case, it is for a nephew who will be married at the end of August.  We won't be able to attend, but I figured the least I could do is create a nice card for them.
  • I have to admit that this is also one of my favourites.  It is based on a similar concept to a card that is in my Paper Crafts:  The Best of Card Creations book.  I wish I had the capacity to come up with something this unique on my own.
  • Now the only question is, how am I going to mail it, without damaging or losing any of the butterflies???  I'll have to think that one through carefully.  Not so sure a padded envelope will work this time around.
FRONT
Digital Image:
  • Butterfly: You can find this beautiful butterfly in the DD store by clicking on the image name or watermark linked above.
    • I brought the image into Photoshop Essential 5, along with a swatch of the background papers to colour match.  I then coloured in the butterfly three different ways to give me some alternate variations to work with.
    • Each butterfly was then printed and fussycut.  I then took a black marker to edge around and colour underneath the antennae and a dark blue to edge around each of the butterflies.  Next I shaped each one and glued them on to the front.
Digital Sentiment:
  • Love Is...: You can find this pretty sentiment in the DD store by clicking on the image name or watermark linked above.
    • The sentiment was recoloured to match the colours in the project.
 Embellishments:
  • The lace is Crafts brand from Dollarama.  I used a left over piece that had been cut in half awhile ago, folded it in half and then wrapped it around and made a bow.
INSIDE
Digital Image:
  • Butterfly: This butterfly with the word love on it is a sweet image from Create With TLCClick HERE to go to Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store. As it turns out it was just perfect for this card and also fit really nicely into the corner of the sentiment.
Digital Sentiment:
  • This sentiment is also from Create With TLC.  It seemed to work really well with the 'love is...' concept and of course it is perfect for a wedding card.  I got this sentiment as a freebie but you can now purchase it as part of the Cherish Word Art Digi Set.  Click on the watermark to find it in the store.
OVERALL
Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Designer Paper:
    • Floral paper and green paper (front & inside)--K & C Company Designer Paper--Best of...florals collection.

So, why not come and show us what you've got by entering in our current challenge this week over at Digi Darla's Challenges?  While you are there please check out the wonderful creations from the rest of the design teamWe always look forward to seeing the delightful creations you come up with.
Thank you so much for stopping by.  As I've now added to my comment section, whether you are a regular, here for the first time or popping over in your official capacity as a DT member, please know how much I appreciate the words that you leave behind.  Your encouragement helps me to become a better designer.   I try my best to reply to your comments (when an email address is available) but that is getting more and more difficult as my plate fills up with new responsibilities, new roles, and new obligations.  If I don't get the opportunity to thank you personally, know that I don't take a single comment for granted. Thank you for your understanding.

Until next time,

This is SO beautiful, Lisa! Love how you've arranged those butterflies - and what a great idea to print it in different sizes and color variations too! As for the postage I think I would make a box to put it in - it would be really sad to see it being ruined during postage...

This is gorgeous. I know that they will love it! It will be very special to them. You may have to wrap it up in some tissue paper like you put in sack packages around the card before you put it in the envelope to help protect it. Hugs~Patti

ohhhhhhh - so GORGEOUS and RICH and BEAUTIFUL, Lisa! Love the colors, composition and freedom of the butterflies. Had to pin this for sure! If your butterflies were adhered with glue and not tape, they will make it through the mail just fine. Thanks for sharing! I have pinned you. hugs, de
