Card Design: Imagine That...Puppy Love

Hello everyone.  I'm here today to present my first Imagine That! Digis by Kris project for February. 

Here are my card and details.  Check it out...

General Details:
  • Last week you got to see a Valentine's Day card that I made for one of my surrogate nieces, JuJu.  Today it is time to see the one I did for her sister, JoJo.  JoJo will be turning 13 in just a little under a month so I thought this would be perfect for her.

FRONT
Digital Image Details: 
  • Puppy Love: Once again, I've chosen to work with the coloured version for this project.  For great value be sure to check out the sets in the IT DbyK store.  With one image offered in a variety of styles both coloured and line drawing, plus a choice of sentiments to choose from, you get a significant return for the money you put out.  Clicking on the name or watermark below will take you to the set's location in the store.

Digital Embellishment Details:
  • The accent pieces on the front (light pink and distressed pink) were created using papers from one of Kris' paper sets, Ticket to Bliss.  Clicking on the watermark below will take you to the set's location in the store.

  • The digital paper used on the front and inside is also from the Ticket to Bliss set.  Details and link above.
Digital Embellishments:
  • The shapes used for matting in behind the image and sentiment are simple shapes created in Photoshop Elements.  They were paper pieced with a paper from the Ticket to Bliss paper set.
  • The shadows to give each element some depth were created with a layer style, also from Sheila Reid.

Card Design: Pattie's Creations Challenge #107...Valentine's Love

Welcome all!  I'm here today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge.  This time around for Challenge #107, the theme is Valentine's Love.  With Valentine's Day right around the corner, this is the perfect time to make a card for someone you love.
   
Here is my card, I hope that I haven't forgotten any important details:

General Information: 
  • Now that that is out of the way, I can tell you that this month's challenge provides me with the perfect opportunity to make a card for the hubs for Valentine's Day.  Pattie has so many wonderful love related images, it was hard to choose just one.  So, I didn't, I chose three!!!

FRONT
Digital Images Details: 
  • Valentine's Bear without Sentiment:  The main image I've used is this adorable bear.  You can also buy it with the sentiment 'be mine' in the heart but I chose this one as I find it more versatile.  Without the sentiment it can be used for a variety of occasions, even on a 'welcome baby' card.  You can find it in Pattie's Etsy shop by clicking on the name or watermark linked below.  I coloured the image with copic markers.

  • Love Postage Stamps Set of 3:  I've also used Pattie's Hugs & Kisses stamp also available in the Etsy store.  The quilt was coloured in digitally and also paper pieced.
Embellishments: 
  • The half pearls are Crafts brand and were purchased at Dollarama.

Digital Image Details: 
  • Quilted Heart Image:  The final image choice that was perfect for the left hand side on the inside is Pattie's quilted heart.  It is the same image that is used in the stamp from above so it tied in beautifully.

  • Here is a closer view.  This image was coloured in digitally and also paper pieced to look like the heart on the stamp used on the front.
Digital Sentiment Details: 
  • This sentiment was a freebie created by Paulette from Create with TLC.  It was the perfect accompaniment to this card.  You can still find it on her blog for free by clicking HERE.  Click HERE to go to the homepage of Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store.

  • I used several papers from Imagine That!  Digis by Kris.  The quilted heart image in both the stamp and stand alone, were paper pieced using a paper from Romance Set 2 and also from the Ticket to Bliss set.  
  • I also used these same two papers plus another one from the Ticket to Bliss set on the front and then just the two same papers for the inside.

Challenges I am hoping to enter...  

Don't forget, our challenges are now monthly.  This should give you lots of time to get a Valentine's Love creation completed.  I really hope that you will be able to join us. Don't forget that along with all the typical rules that apply to the majority of challenges out there (please click HERE to become familiar with all the rules), you MUST USE A DIGITAL OR STAMPED IMAGE to qualify for the drawing (unless stated otherwise). We would absolutely love to see you use a Pattie's Creations (PC) image on your card, but you are allowed to use other images. If you do use a PC image, you will gain an extra entry in the draw and will have a better chance to WIN! You can enter twice per challenge and of course MUST follow all the challenge requirements that are posted for each challenge. Easy Peasy right!

Promotional Post: An Early Spring Has Been Predicted

If you missed the news on Monday, I am VERY happy to tell you that Ontario's Wiarton Willy predicts an early spring!   Yippee!!!  That is good news for all of us freezing up here in Canada.  For those of you who may be unaware, Wiarton Willie is the official groundhog day predictor for whether spring will come early or late in Canada.  Of course at the time of his prediction, a massive snowstorm storm swept over central Canada and more bad weather is expected.  Apparently, it has been suggested that our Wiarton Willie is being rather optimistic this year making him a glass-half-full kind of guy.  However, if he is then his lesser-known buddy, Winnipeg Willow is an optimist as well.  Unfortunately, his other counterparts, Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam and Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil don't seem to agree with Willie's and Willow's predictions as they both spotted their shadows.

Given that the temperatures these past few weeks in Northern Ontario have been running in the minus 20s to minus 30's degrees Celsius, I'm REALLY hoping Willie gets this one correct.  Last year, Willie correctly predicted the extremely long winter that plagued much of Canada; so there is hope his prediction will come true this year as well.  .If he does get it right, you'll be able to start putting away those snow shovels and start taking out your umbrellas and sunglasses very soon!

Card Design: 12MoC Challenge #2...Optional Theme--I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

Hello!  It is time for the February challenge and link up to begin over at The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up.  We had a great showing in January and Monica and I hope that you'll continue to spread the word. 

Don't forget that this link up is basically two-fold.  First of all, you are still going to have the opportunity to link up any number of Christmas and December holiday themed cards throughout the month with an anything goes theme. At the end of each month, every person who has linked up a MINIMUM of two (2) Christmas or holiday themed cards will be eligible to receive a specially designed Christmas themed digital paper created by moi. That means that if you submit two cards each month, by the time that the year is done, you will have received 12 free digital papers, all for the low cost of linking up cards you need to create anyway. You do not need to use the digital paper you receive each month in your cards in order to get the next paper. They are strictly meant as incentive to participate.
 
While team members had the option of working with any of my Décosse's Dynamite Doodles papers, I did create some other papers to work with based on the theme.  I admit this one was a tough one but I did come up with a couple ideas.  I created a Santa Kisses set with just three images across...


 Then I also created just one of the papers with five images across...


Finally, I put together a set called Hugs & Kisses that will be very versatile...


Everyone who links up a minimum of two cards during the month of February will earn ONE of the digital papers from the Santa Kisses 3x set.  The specific paper up for grabs will be shown during the winner announcement post.  If you would like to have a say in determining which colour will be offered, you can answer the poll we've set up in the sidebar on the top right hand side of The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up blog. 

The second part of the challenge provides even more incentive to play. Each month there will be an OPTIONAL theme to follow. This month the optional theme is I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. In order to have a chance to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor this month, make sure that your card has something sassy on it. You can find more details over on the Challenge 2 post. Scribbles Designs Challenge #25 Midway Point


It is the start of a new month and that means that it is time for the midway for the latest Scribbles Designs Challenge.  

There are two whole weeks left for you to come on over and enter. In case you've missed it, the theme this time around for Challenge #25, is 'Winter Wonderland'.  Big, fat, fluffy snowflakes or hard and crunchy.  Slush and sleet or flurries and blizzards.   In Canada, along with many other nations throughout the world, we are deep in the throes of winter; and as such, we are experiencing snow in a variety of forms.  Whether you love it or hate it, for many of us, there is no escaping it.  So this month, show us a project featuring snow as the main theme.  Whether a  light dusting or an avalanche, what will your winter wonderland look like?
