The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Five

Hello and happy Tuesday to you! Just three more sleeps until a brand new year!

It is the fifth day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details. Then for day two click HERE, for day three click HERE and for day four click HERE.

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow. I'll be asking you questions to find out how the pandemic has impacted your life over the last year--how it has affected you, what things you've had to do differently, how you've had to adjust your life--that kind of idea. You will be able to leave your daily answer in a comment on the post for each respective day. If you follow the instructions for each day, you'll earn a free digital paper.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest. It is completely up to you as to when you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise). AS LONG AS ALL your TASKS are submitted, no later than January 12th, 2021, then you will qualify to receive the paper(s) for whichever day(s) you participate.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: Artsy Pantsy (via Creative Fabrica) and Julie Campbell Designs (via DesignBundles). In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's task?!!

On the fifth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number five.
Just a few precious minutes of your time,
and you'll get to keep the quest alive!!!

Task:
Due to lockdowns and shutdowns many people found themselves with extra time on their hands. Did you find yourself doing MORE or LESS crafting this past year or the same as you typically would do? If you found yourself doing more or less, what was the reason in your particular situation?

For myself, the on-going lockdowns and shut downs didn't affect my time. As I don't work and my hubby's job was considered essential, we didn't find ourselves with any extra time. Unfortunately, it was another crazy busy year and I didn't find myself with time to actually get any crafting done. I'm still looking for ways to pare down my hours on the computer each day but for now, it is what it is.

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your response in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. If you are new to the quest or are not sure whether I might have your email address, please be sure to also leave your email address in your comment. If you would prefer to keep your address private, then check out the bottom paragraph from Day 1 for how to send it to me.

Hope this last Tuesday of the year finds you in a seasonal mood! See you all tomorrow for day number six!!!

Cheers!

Over the year about the same as usual. I found I had a bit of extra time just after lockdown as I got through the issues of not being able to go out (I needed a mask to go out and a lot of people bought far more than they actually needed). I had to wait until my daughter was able to post ones she made for me once the postal service resumed. Once I was able to go out and go for a walk again, I felt motivated and started working ahead with my DT commitments where possible. That freed up a bit of time nearer to Christmas when I was time pressured with other commitments.

Due to health issues, I would say that I did less crafting this year. I did make Christmas cards which I started in early September because I can only do a little at a time, but it all turned out well because I did get them all done before Thanksgiving. I only worked in my art journal a few times, but hopefully now that Christmas and all birthday cards have been made (don't have birthday cards starting again until March 1st), and Lord willing I feel well enough, I will try to get back into my mixed media art journal. My mind has the ideas of creating, but my body doesn't always agree!!

My crafts was not affected by the pandemic. I work in a dozen or so teams and I try to have my card ahead of time. I am quite organized and when I have more professional work I try to plan my time more. So that none of my activities suffer. Because I cannot imagine a day without a book, bridge games, embroidery or crafts. Hugs Danka

I think I did a little less crafting I usually did before the pandemic. When the total lockdown happened we pretty much stayed home except to go to the store when needed and watched a lot of TV. Hopefully now trying to do a little more
Have a great day!

I wouldn't say I did more or less, but I do notice that my crafting was different! I made many more Christmas cards and sent out more this year than normal. I've done tons more coloring for cards and classes.
I did less work in art journals, books, etc and made fewer videos. I need to get back to that since I do enjoy it! I have to say, these questions are making me think about some new goals for 2021! Thanks Lisa!!

I have found myself to be more creative during this time. I have learned different folds and techniques and re-acquainted myself with long forgotten supplies.

I have also used my creativity to spread hope with friends and neighbours, especially at the start of lockdown when many people were separated from families. I made lots of cards with positive messages which were well received. I also made halloween milk cartons filled with sweeties for the little children we are close to. Things have been so difficult for them this year it was lovely to spend a little time making them a little treat.

I have also discovered gardening and grew some of my own vegetables for the first time.

Soo cute your paper is!

This year I've crafted much less than I'd like to, not by choice, health often slows us down, here's to Healthy, Happy 2021 for all and ringing in the New Year!

The same amount. My life did not change a lot because I am home most of the time. Crafting is soothing and I have enjoyed it this year. Edwina Brown

The pandemic hasn't changed how my family spent our time. I don't work so I'm home almost 24/7. Hubby works from home, so same. Our 19yo son attends a local college and commutes for classes that aren't on Zoom. Now, my creativity soared this year, as did my production of cards. I think its because I met so many more crafty people this year than I had in all my crafty years prior! I have made many great friendships this year and we have challenged each other greatly... to craft, to apply for DTs, to join hops, etc. I think more people were online or had time to comment, like, share, etc that friendships were made. I would never wish a pandemic on anyone, but I am *so* thankful for the crafty sisters that fill my day with glitter and smiles. I could not have handled 2020 without them!

Our shutdown was from March to June so during that time period I did more crafting and even sorted through lots of stuff to organize. But once the stay at home order was lifted and we went back to volunteering my crafty time kind of was hit and miss. I did get all the birthday cards and Christmas cards done that I needed so I guess you would say over the entire year I made about the same amount of cards.

I have done less paper crafting but learned how to use resin and made lots of gifts and even learned how to make resin cups!
Lots of fun!!

I think I have the same amount of time to craft, but less ability to concentrate.

I have done more crafting because we decided to send our WI members a card and goody bag every month. I am the only paper crafter so took on the majority of the work - hand crafted cards, presentation bags and boxes, note books, quizzes, etc. Since we have 52 members it has been a very busy time, but the members love receiving them and are so appreciative.

Hmmm, I have pondered this myself, because I do think I was busier doing more but then really blew some deadlines and goals I'd personally set, almost like I did LESS. And I think it was because I was not able to focus nearly as well. Frankly, I think we've all been traumatized by this year, plus the politics atleast in the USA and over in UK. I really almost feel like I've been in a bit of low level shock, so while I spent every single minute I could crafting, it was birthday cards and thinking of you instead of the Christmas cards and other goals I'd set. And that's okay. But still, my time management sucked, lol. XOX

I carried on crafting as normal, maybe a little more online shopping for crafting goodies

I could not craft very much during the Lockdown as everyone stays home and I have been busy whipping up meals for them and to see to their well being. It doesn't affect me very much as I can craft all day but to my family it was hard with sudden plenty of time on hand at home.
