The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Three

It is the third day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details. Then for day two, click HERE.

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow. I'll be sending you on a quest to visit the stores or blogs of designers that I love in order to create specific Wish Lists that I want you to share with me. You will be able to leave your daily Wish List in a comment on the post for each respective day. If you follow the instructions for each day, you'll earn a free digital paper.

To make it fair for everyone, I will have comment moderation on and won't be publishing any comments for The 12 Days of Christmas until the quest is over.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest. It is completely up to you as to when you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise). AS LONG AS ALL your Wish Lists are submitted, no later than January 12th, 2019, then you will qualify to receive the paper(s) for whichever day(s) you participate.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: The Hungry JPEG, HG Designs and Sheila Reid (Pixel Scrapper). In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's clue!!!

On the third day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number three.
Keep playing along and if you answer correctly,
you'll earn another paper for free!!!

Task:
Today's quest takes place at Ike's Art. Head on over to the Christmas section of the Ike's Art store. You will need to click on the 'Store' tab (third tab in from the left at the top of the page). Once you are in the store, you will see the Categories listed on the left. Scroll down until you see the Christmas section. Let me know THREE sets with a SANTA HAT as part of the design that you want to add to your Wish List.

Click HERE to head there now!

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your Wish List in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. If you are new to the quest or are not sure whether I might have your email address, please be sure to also leave your email address in your comment. If you would prefer to keep your address private, then check out the bottom paragraph from Day 1 for how to send it to me.

Hope this third day after Christmas finds you still thinking merry thoughts! See you all tomorrow for day number four!!!

Cheers!

The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Three

It is the third day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details. Then for day two, click HERE.

Before I start, I want to answer a question that was asked yesterday. One of my faithful followers and friends asked me what Boxing Day is. A few years ago, I did a series of Holiday Handouts and talked about all the different holidays during the month of December and the early part of January.  She had recalled me writing about it but couldn't rember the details. So for Edwina and anyone else unfamiliar with Boxing Day, here are the basic facts.

Boxing Day is a holiday that is celebrated on December 26th, the day after Christmas Day. It originally began in the United Kingdom but it is also celebrated in a number of countries that used to belong to the British Empire, including Canada. In some countries, Boxing Day is a bank holiday and in other countries like Canada, it is a National holiday.

If you are from Austria, Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Wales, England, Italy, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Sweden, Finland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Poland, the 26th of December is celebrated as St. Stephen's Day. The true tradition on this holiday is to give gifts to the poor and needy. In some places, there is also the tradition of giving gifts to people who work in the service industry.

Now back to today's quest.

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow. I'll be sending you on a quest to find something or provide me with certain facts from the stores or blogs of designers that I love. Then, it will just be a matter of emailing me the answer to my query and you'll earn a free digital paper.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest. It is completely up to you as to when and how you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise) AS LONG AS all your answers are sent in no later than January 12th, 2017.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: 8 Red Fish Creative (Design Cuts), Peace Shop (The Hungry JPEG), and Sheila Reid (Pixel Scrapper).

Keep playing along and if you answer correctly,

Task:
Today's quest takes place at Ike's Art. Along with making fabulous digi stamps, and adorable animal figurines from paper maché and plaster, she also specializes in fine art Animal Portraits and takes orders to create portraits of beloved family pets. She has a number of samples in this area. So, head on over to the Animal Portraits section of the Ike's Art store (2nd tab on the top). You will find images of all the portraits she has displayed in the middle of the section. The first image on the left is of two spaniels, then there is a Hawk and the third one is a cat. If you hover your mouse over the cat, the rest of the images will scroll through. Once you get it scrolling, if you move closer to the middle, it will go slower and moving your mouse to the right will go quicker.  Let me know the name of your favourite Animal Portrait from this section. Hint: There are 14 different images to scroll through. As you are scrolling through, you can see the names of the jpgs. Alternatively, you can click on any image to see it bigger and the name will show but you have to move the mouse around until you see it.

Click HERE to head there now!

Card Design: 12MoC Challenge #2...Optional Theme--I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

http://12monthsofchristmaslinkup.blogspot.ca/

Hello!  It is time for the February challenge and link up to begin over at The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up.  We had a great showing in January and Monica and I hope that you'll continue to spread the word.

Don't forget that this link up is basically two-fold.  First of all, you are still going to have the opportunity to link up any number of Christmas and December holiday themed cards throughout the month with an anything goes theme. At the end of each month, every person who has linked up a MINIMUM of two (2) Christmas or holiday themed cards will be eligible to receive a specially designed Christmas themed digital paper created by moi. That means that if you submit two cards each month, by the time that the year is done, you will have received 12 free digital papers, all for the low cost of linking up cards you need to create anyway. You do not need to use the digital paper you receive each month in your cards in order to get the next paper. They are strictly meant as incentive to participate.

While team members had the option of working with any of my Décosse's Dynamite Doodles papers, I did create some other papers to work with based on the theme.  I admit this one was a tough one but I did come up with a couple ideas.  I created a Santa Kisses set with just three images across...

Then I also created just one of the papers with five images across...

Finally, I put together a set called Hugs & Kisses that will be very versatile...

Everyone who links up a minimum of two cards during the month of February will earn ONE of the digital papers from the Santa Kisses 3x set.  The specific paper up for grabs will be shown during the winner announcement post.  If you would like to have a say in determining which colour will be offered, you can answer the poll we've set up in the sidebar on the top right hand side of The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up blog.

The second part of the challenge provides even more incentive to play. Each month there will be an OPTIONAL theme to follow. This month the optional theme is I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. In order to have a chance to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor this month, make sure that your card has something sassy on it. You can find more details over on the Challenge 2 post. You can find that post and the link up by clicking HERE.

Also, be sure to check out all the rules and details on the Challenge Details Page. We have provided examples of a few different scenarios to help explain things and make them a bit clearer, in case there is any confusion.

This month our wonderful guest sponsor is
Ike's Art...

Digital Design: Hallowe'en Challenge Over at the Your Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog

Okay, so the last thing I have time for is to create an extra project right now, especially given the back log that my gum infection and my recent fall have created.  Apparently I'm one for some extra punishment because I did just that.

Right now over at the Your Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog they have a Hallowe'en themed challenge where the prize is five free digis from Ike's Art.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to continue for the new term on Ike's team and I have sorely been missing me some Ike's Art digis. I am definitely an uber fan of Ike's work.  So, I just couldn't give up the opportunity to win a chance at such a great prize and support the Your Scrapbook Place Challenge Blog at the same time.

So here is a digital layout that I created in order to enter...
Digital Image Details:
  • Batty Over:  Scribbles Designs' Batty Over You Image was the perfect sentiment and image combined for this particular creation.  Clicking on the watermark below will take you to its location within the store. I paper pieced 'batty' with a digital paper (see info below) and then coloured the bat in digitally.
Digital Paper and Embellishments Details:
  • The papers, frame, flower and leaf are all from my latest kit that you currently have a chance to win over at the 613 Avenue Create Challenge Blog.  You can check out all the previews for the kit and pick up a washi tape freebie by clicking HERE

Challenges I am entering...
Others I am hoping to get it into...

Well folks, that is it for this one.  Now it is time for me to move on to the things that I am desperately supposed to be taking care of.  Have a wonderful weekend and for all my fellow Canadians, Happy Thanksgiving!
Until next time,

Card Design: Ike's World Challenge #19...Monochromatic

A lovely early Tuesday morning to you all.  It is time to share the new Ike's World Challenge.  This fortnight the theme is Monochromatic. I've decided to make a baby card using shades of pink.  Ike has some really great images perfect for baby cards. I was fortunate that I was able to take a few and make them work together.

I also took the opportunity to create a new digital paper for MY OWN PERSONAL USE, using three different images.  Just one more way to increase the versatility of digital images, as long as you have permission from the original artist, which I did receive.  If you are interested in doing something similar, please keep in mind, that any new creations that you make would strictly be for your OWN PERSONAL USE and the rights to the original image lie with the original creator.  What you are left with is a creation that you can use over and over again, just as would other digital papers and embellishments as long as you provide credit to the original designer.  It could be something as simple as, "Digital paper created by me using an image, with permission, from Ike's Art".

Here is a preview of that paper I created...
This paper will be perfect for me to use in the future on other baby cards or a birthday card for a young lady.  I definitely look forward to figuring out different ways to use it.

Digital Image Details:
  • Patchimals: You can find it in the 'Animals' section of the Ike's Art storeClicking on the name or watermark below will bring you to that section.  Such a great set that could be used for so many occasions.  They were coloured digitally for both the paper and for the inside of my card.
