Wonderful Wednesdays and a Merry Christmas!

Hah!  And you guys thought I probably forgot about you this month.  Well, to be very honest it was touch and go as to whether I'd actually get the items for the December kit created and posted while it was still December!  However, fate stepped in and gave me just enough time to be able to create this post and get it out to you.  Now since it is Christmas Day, I am counting on Blogger to uphold its end of the bargain and publish this post as scheduled.  I hope that for those of you who celebrate Christmas, you have enjoyed it immensely.  I say 'enjoyed' because I can't see too many people popping in today.  However, if you are here today, I hope that you are having a splendid day and I thank you for coming by to see what I have available; and, on that note, let's get to it shall we?

This month's kit is called...December Delights

I know that not everyone celebrates Christmas so if you are one who doesn't, I hope that there will at least be an item or two that you can use.  I also know it is too late for this year but since people work on their Christmas cards all year long, I know that some of you will be able to make use of a few of these items, real soon!

First up, I'll start with the usual, some Lovely Lettering wordart depicting the name of the month...

These word art creations are all made with fonts free for commercial use.  They are in png format and published at 300 dpi.  The three bottom ones have been altered with layer styles from Shelby Kate Schmitz of graphicssoft.about.com.

Okay, it is time to move on to some Paper Play...

I don't know about you, but I have always really liked the combination of black and cream.  While they aren't traditional Christmas colours, I still wanted them to be part of the December kit.  I have provided you with three different papers all variations on the same theme.  You are welcome to one or all, it is up to you!  The picture of the ornament is from George Hodan and is available over at PublicDomainPictures.netEach of the above papers (actually all the papers presented today) have been altered with layer styles from Shelby Kate Schmitz.

Next up are a couple more papers, this time with traditional colours...

As usual, all of these papers are 3600 x 3600 pixels (i.e. 12 inches) and are published at 300 dpi.

I've created a couple of Radical Ribbons that work with the above two papers, on their own or with anything for that matter that you can make them work with!  You can see the detail better if you click on them to bring them up into the lightbox.

That leaves me with just a few minutes to add a couple Fantastic Frames.  A few people really liked two of the recent frames I showcased in creations posted last week so I thought I'd re-size them and throw those into the kit as well.

As usual, everything is published rather large to accommodate scrapbooking.  You can always reduce the size without distorting the image. These particular frames have been created using shapes and altered using layer styles from --you guessed it--Shelby Kate Schmitz.

I can not believe that a year of mini kits is done.  I've gone from a complete mish mash of objects at the beginning of the year to kit names and a bit more of an organization, towards the end of the year.  Incredible, the difference a year can make in design, learning, or life in general.  I hope that you enjoy the last kit of the year.  I'll be back in January to start building on last January's kit.  Of course that is just for Wonderful Wednesdays, I'll be back in general in just a few short days.  I've been working rather hard this past year and I think that I've earned a few good days away from the computer spending some quality time with the hubs and other family and friends.

Until next time,

Bonus: If you've actually made it to the end of this post I have a little bonus item for the December kit.  It is a date stamp in a red shade that should complement other offerings in the December kit. Hmmm...I'll have to put my thinking cap on and figure out what next year's bonuses will be.

Wonderful Wednesdays: Lovely Lettering & Paper Play for November

It was rather busy last week and I'm afraid I didn't get a chance to get the Lovely Lettering portion of the November kit done so I'm here today pulling double duty and also offering up some Paper Play.

Before we start, how about I unveil the new kit title.  I had an really tough time figuring out which direction to go with for the November kit.  There is Thanksgiving for those living in the US but for those of us in Canada it has already passed.  Then there is the change in weather and also Remembrance day thrown into the mix.  While it was difficult deciding on a theme that I can carry through from year to year, I think I have found one that will work.  So, your kit for November is...

As Time Goes By

I can throw in some gratitude stuff down the road, do a little with the idea of remembering and just cover the idea of time in general.  I've gone with some rich darker tones for the colour palette and hope that someone will be able to make use of at least a portion of what I'll be offering up this month and in future Novembers to come.  Remember the monthly kits are a multi year event--for at least another two years anyways.

It also took me forever to find the right mix of colours I was looking for but I think I have finally settled on these for the most part.  Although I'm still not completely happy with it.  However, after tweaking with it for over 2 hours, I needed to move on or I would never have finished this post while it was still Wednesday.

As always, how about we start off with the name of the month...

These images are quite large.  If you are a card maker you can always resize them smaller without distorting the quality.

I have this really cool font that uses fall harvest veggies and I REALLY wanted to have it ready for you.  However, it took me almost an hour just to colour in one of the letters in the word November and there was no way I would have had it done in time for today along with the other goodies I wanted to offer soooooooooooooo maybe I'll manage to get it ready for next year's kit.  So, you'll just have to settle for the ones above.

I have found a great new place to get Photoshop resources that I can use to make commercial use products.  The blog is called Star Sunflower Studio.  Oh my goodness, I could get lost over there for hours.  Well, actually I did.  I spent almost three hours there yesterday and another two organizing and installing all my downloads.  The terms according to this site are that you must link to the source post where the item came from.  So instead of just creating a file and installing all the layer styles into one folder, I needed to install them in separate folders so I would know which set they came from.  Then I had to create a note for each set indicating the exact webpage it came from.  It was a lot of work and I only installed 13 folders BUT in the long run it will definitely be worth it to be able to offer you guys even more options.  Besides, if Star Sunflower Studio is willing to offer these for free and allow us designers to make money from what we create, then this is the absolute least we can do to ensure they receive proper credit.  I've included all the proper links below in the credit info paragraph.

Okay, it is time to move on to some Paper Play...

I've created four papers using the same colours as the words.  I'm also giving you two extra bonus papers, just because you guys are so wonderful.  Here are a couple watch papers I created in two of the colour mixes.

I must admit I think that these rank up there with my favourites.  I also plan on creating them in the other two colours for when I get the whole kit together for sale.

Each of these papers is 3600 x 3600 pixels (i.e. 12 inches) and is published at 300 dpi. Credit information for the templates used to create these papers can be found in the credit note below.

Stay tuned for another Wonderful Wednesday offering real soon as there is still more to come for this month's kit.

Until next time,

Wonderful Wednesdays: Lovely Lettering for October

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

Hello my lovely peeps.  I'm running rather late today.  Not feeling so hot but completely unrelated to that virus I had been battling almost six weeks or so.  I think I have finally got it out of my system. Woo hoo! Over the last couple days, my voice has been squeaking through more and more and yesterday, I'd only lose it, if I tried to string together four or five sentences.  So, thanks for all your well wishes and concern.

Now it is time to unveil the latest kit for October.  I've had the toughest time figuring out the route for this one but I think I finally settled on...

Frightfully Delightful

That way I cover my bases with being able to include a range of ideas that run from sweet to a little bit more scary.  Since these kits are designed so that each year you will be able to add to them, they definitely have to be a bit broader in nature.

As always, how about we start off with the name of the month...

I've come a long way from the first time I offered the names of the month in a flat lettering, haven't I?  It is fun looking back and seeing my development as a digital creator over the last 10 months.  Of course, these images are much smaller here than when you download them.  If they are too big you can always make them smaller.  Each is published at 300 dpi.

As I mentioned when I started, I am running late, it is now after nine and I have to finish cooking supper so while I don't have time to add the credit notation for fonts and styles, I will add it to this post when I come back on line later tonight.  Sorry about the delay. (EDIT:  This info has now been added below.)

Until later,

Wonderful Wednesdays Part I: September Kit Starts Today

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

Hello, my friends!  It is time to start presenting items for the September kit and since I missed last week, I need to pull double duty today. For some reason I was thinking that September had five Wednesdays but it is only five Sundays and Mondays.  Oh well, these things happen, especially if you live in my head.

However, it is going on 3:00 am and as much as I wanted to finish getting the papers ready before heading off to bed so that I could just put the one post out, that is not going to happen.  Hmmmmm....I'm sensing a touch of deja vu?  Didn't I say this exact same thing last month?!  Well, last month I was running REALLY late, today I just want to try and get into bed a little earlier in an effort to get up a bit earlier tomorrow.  So once again, I'm splitting this week's post into two pieces.  Thus I will publish the Lovely Lettering portion of today now, and create another post this afternoon for the Paper Play portion.  So, let's get started with the September kit shall we? The theme for this month's kit is:

FALL INTO FALL

In my neck of the woods, the air is starting to cool and soon the leaves will start their colour transition into a beautiful spectrum of autumn colours.  So why not capture those beautiful fall hues in a kit?

To start off with, here is the Lovely Lettering portion of the kit.  For this month's word (September), I'm doing the same type of thing that I did last month by using a number of various photographs that are in the public domain and then creating text masks.  Here is what I came up with for this month...

These types of pictures just lend themselves so well for creating word art.  These images are all pngs and are quite large to accommodate scrapbooking pages; so, if you need to make them smaller, you can do so easily without distorting them.  The first four pictures I used to create the word art are all available over at morgueFile and the last one is from Public Domain Pictures.  Individual credits appear below.

I'll be back sometime this evening with the papers for this month's kit.  I have yet to start them but I should be able to get them out by tomorrow night--hopefully!

As always, I'd love to see what you come up with if you use anything I create on any of your projects.

Until this evening,

Wonderful Wednesdays: Lovely Lettering

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

Hello, my friends!  It is time to start presenting items for the August kit and since I missed last week, I need to pull double duty today. However, it is now 6:30 am and as much as I wanted to finish getting the papers ready before heading off to bed so that I could just put the one post out, that is not going to happen.  I should have been in bed hours ago but I just get so lost in my designs when I am creating (of course I'll be paying for it later today).   Thus I will publish the Lovely Lettering portion of today now, and create another post this afternoon for the Paper Play portion of Wonderful Wednesdays.  So, let's get started with the August kit shall we? The theme for this month's kit is:

FUN IN THE SUN

While the temperature this last week and a half has been quite comfortable thankfully, today was so chilly that I'm sitting wrapped in a housecoat as I type this. However, I'm sure it is warm somewhere in the world and we are expecting another heat wave next week so there is still time to get some fun in the sun.

For this month's word (August), I'm doing something a little bit different.  I'm using a number of various photographs that are in the public domain and creating text masks.  Now, I spent a significant amount of time trying to figure this out in Photoshop Essentials only to find out that the version I have doesn't support creating mask layers.  However, Inkscape does.  So I took the same principles and applied them there.  Now the funny thing is that even if PE5 had a masking feature, there are still several steps to go through.  In Inkscape there are two.  Guess I know where I'll be doing all my masking from now on.  Here is what I came up with...

Neat eh?!  These images are all pngs and are quite large to accommodate scrapbooking pages; so, if you need to make them smaller, you can do so easily without distorting them.  The pictures I used to create the word art are all available over at Public Domain Images.

I'll be back in roughly 10 to 12 hours with the papers for this month's kit.  Still have a few finishing touches to put on them but I should be able to get them out by tomorrow evening--fingers crossed.

As always, I'd love to see what you come up with if you use anything I create on any of your projects.

Until this afternoon,

p.s.  I apologize for any spelling or grammar errors, I only did one read through because I'm going to face plant into the keyboard soon.
