Free Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon Digi Paper available at Scribbles Designs

Hello everyone! I'm just popping in to let you know that the latest freebie is available over on the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog for all of our Freebie Fridayer fans!

As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month; so, in honour of the occasion, I decided to make a paper using Sandy's awareness ribbon. She originally offered up the ribbon as a freebie in September 2013. You can find both the original image AND the paper you see below in the preview, by clicking HERE. The original image can also be found in the store HERE

Here is a preview of the paper...

Another creation under the Scribble Doodle Designs label! This free paper is six inches by six inches (1800 pixels x 1800 pixels)--the perfect size for card making! It is in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: Little Cloud (Design Cuts); Elif Sahin (Pixel Scrapper); and of course, Scribbles Designs. As mentioned above, you can download it over on the challenge blog as today's Freebie Friday offering.

Don't forget to mark you calendars every Friday to head on over to the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog to grab the latest freebie up for grabs. You can find the original image and the digi paper from October 7th's post HERE. It is a great way to add to your SD digi stamp collection and to your Scribble Doodles Designs collection. Don't forget, that when you use an SD image on a project that you enter into our monthly challenges, you get extra entries! That is a great incentive to use one of Sandy's images.

Have a wonderful weekend. For all of my fellow Canadians, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! If things go according to plan, I hope to have a freebie in honour of the occasion this coming Monday. Wish me some extra time so I can pull it off. ;)

Take care until we meet again!

Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenge #84--Think Pink!

Hello!  I hope that all of you enjoyed your weekend.  For us in Canada it is a nice long one as we celebrate Thanksgiving today.  There are many things that I am thankful for including the opportunity to design for so many great artists including Kim over at Digi Darla's.  So on that note it is time to show you my card for the latest challenge.  This week for Challenge #84 the theme is "Think Pink!".  It is my month for picking the themes and for my choice this week, I wanted to give people a chance to honour someone close to them using the colour pink in their project.  These days it is getting harder and harder to find someone who hasn't been touched by cancer.  Since it is breast cancer awareness month, it is the perfect opportunity to create a card letting someone know we are thinking about them.

The card doesn't specifically have to be for someone dealing with cancer, it could just be for someone that is dealing with some sort of difficulty, or a project that lets someone you care about, know that you are thinking of them.  However, in honour of breast cancer awareness month, we do ask that you include lots of pink on your creation.

One person will be the lucky winner of FIVE Digi Darla (DD) images!  AND any entries using a DD image get entered into a SECOND drawing for THREE images. So, you could technically win eight images!  If you do use one of Kim's wonderful images make sure you let us know by writing DD after your name when you enter.

I've used the following Digi Darla's digi in my project this week:

Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Notes:
  • Check it out!  My card is once again back on its picture taking stand.  I am such a lucky girl.  When my parents were up last week, they brought up one of their cameras that they weren't using.  Woo, hoo!   We now have a new camera and didn't have to spend $300.00 to get it!  It is also basically brand new as my dad only took a few pictures on it during a trip they were on.  In fact, the only thing I had to agree to in order to get the camera was to send them the pics he had taken that have been sitting there for a couple years.  That is a pretty good deal!!!
  • Okay, one of the challenges I am entering is 'Ribbon, String, Twine'.  Okay technically I didn't attach any extra string but the clothesline is made of string so that should count right?!  It is all in the interpretation and thankfully most challenge blogs let people get creative with how they interpret themes.  Let's hope that BMDC is one of them!
  • Now I hope that people get what I am trying to convey with this card.  For anyone dealing with cancer, not only is HOPE extremely important but so is the need for humour as well.  Hopefully, you guys can see both elements in this card.

FRONT
 Digital Image:
  • Clothes on line:  You can find this pretty image in the DD store by clicking on the image name or watermark linked above.  I'm afraid that the printer seems to be having an issue so the image didn't print out solid exactly.
Digital Sentiment:
  • This sentiment is from Heather, the awesome owner of Fresh Brewed Designs and another store that I am honoured to promote and thankful to be part of.  If you act fast you can grab this sentiment and two others over on the homepage at the store for free.  Click HERE to go find them (you'll need to scroll down a bit).
  • I've seen people create these warped banners/pennants (whatever you want to call them) and I have wanted to try it out myself.  My first attempt didn't go so well as I ended up folding it in the middle and created a crease that was just too noticeable.  The second one turned out okay I think.  In hindsight, it probably should have been a tad longer on each end so that it overlapped more but I'm pretty pleased with it overall.  Now I just have to remember to stuff tissue or bubble wrap in the groove if I ever have to mail it so that it doesn't get wrecked.
Embellishments:
  • The little pink half pearls are Crafts brand from Dollarama.

INSIDE
 Digital Image:
  • Floral bra--coloured:  That gorgeous floral bra was a freebie I picked up so long ago that I was still 'anonymous' at the time.  Thankfully it is still available over at Beccy's Place.  You can click HERE to go to the page it is on.  There are actually two different versions of this image, a black and white and the coloured one I used for my card.  There are also two versions of a pretty awareness ribbon available too.  Don't forget to say thanks if you go over and grab these images.
Digital Sentiment:
  • One I created based on a breast cancer awareness slogan.  I tried to find a font similar to the one Heather used (front).

OVERALL
Paper Products:

  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's cardstock, white.
  • Digital Designer Papers:
    • That beautiful pink paper with the sprinkling of black in it is a digital paper that I picked up as a freebie from Bearly Mine Designs available HERE.  Donna creates some gorgeous papers and you can find the one that I used on my card along with four other soft pink ones in the same post.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...
  • Beccy's Place -- October Challenge
  • Bearly Mine Challenges -- Ribbon/String/Twine (the clothes line is made of string, right?) Oh poop, I missed the end date.  Maybe next time.

If I can find some time, I'll try and enter a couple more challenges.  Man I need an assistant!!!

So, how about you come on over and show us YOUR wonderful talents by entering in our current challenge this week over at Digi Darla's Challenges?  While you are there please check out the great projects from the rest of the design team.  We always look forward to seeing the delightful creations you come up with.

Until next time,

Card Design: Ike's World Challenge #2...Awareness

I am so pleased to announce to you all that I am now a proud member of the new and wonderful...

I am thrilled to bits to be part of this amazing group of talented women and it is always cool to be part of an inaugural team.  If you've happened to have seen all my Saturday Showcases, then you already know how much a fan I am of the incredibly talented woman Ike, and her work.  I've spotlights some of her amazing creations in at least three showcases over the past year!  I've even managed to use some of her digis in my creations.  I've wanted to do more but my DT work with other artists always keeps me hopping.

Well, they say that when one door closes another opens.  While I haven't personally announced it yet on my own blog, some of you may have heard that San from San's Design is taking a break for personal reasons (however she is keeping the store open).  Since I will no longer be creating regularly scheduled cards or posts for that team in the foreseeable future, I jumped at the chance to apply for Ike's World Challenges.   And, YaY!  I actually managed to make it!

So starting today, expect to meet some of the outstanding artwork from Ike's Art making an appearance on this blog every two weeks.  I am soooooo excited!!!!!!!!!  Ike got such a huge response that she has divided the team into two groups.  This way you will get to see some fabulous creations every single week on the challenge blog.  Cool eh?!

So without further ado, how about I show you what I created for my first ever Ike's World DT submission...

General Information:
  • For my first project, I decided to incorporate an image that I coloured into a digital layout.
Digital Image:
  • Awareness:  This stunning image is called 'Awareness' and you can purchase it in the store by checking out the 'My Latest Designs' section.  I've linked the watermark below to go straight to the store.
    • I've coloured the image using Copic Markers.  Skin:  E000, E00, E02, R20.  Ribbon:   RV00, RV02, RV04.
    • If the image looks familiar to you, it might be because you saw it on a card I did for the Path of Positivity challenge when we did the theme of  'Strength'.
    • After the images was printed out and coloured, I then scanned and uploaded it to my program so that I could incorporate it into a digital layout.
Digital Sentiment:
  • The digital sentiment is one I created but haven't released yet.
Other Credits:
  • All of the remaining digital elements that I have used for this layout (except for the darker pink frame which I created myself) are from the kit called 'Another Tea Party' created by Correen Silke, a contributor to {computer}scrapbook.com.
Challenges I hope to enter:
I hope to be able to enter some challenges later this week and/or month with the help of a friend.

So be sure to come and play along with us during the next two weeks over at Ike's World Challenges. You can find out everything you need to know in order to play, by heading to the challenge blog.  I've linked the logo below to take you there.  While you are over there, please be sure to check out the incredible creations offered up by my fellow DT members.
Until next time,
