http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca

Hello there folks! I hope that each of you is continuing to stay healthy in your own little corner of this world!

I'm popping in today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge. This time around for Challenge #188, the theme is Anything Goes. I took the opportunity to make a card for my hubby. I've left the inside empty so can I adjust it later--i.e. for anniversary, or general love, etc.

General Project Info:
  • This card has been created 100% digitally and then layered in a Mock Up (courtesy of Frisk Shop). It will be printed out and assembled prior to dissemination.

FRONT

Digital Images Details:
  • Latte Love can be found in Pattie's Etsy shop. This image was coloured in digitally using digital colouring and paper piecing. Credits include:
    • the lids of the cups were altered with a layer style from Heather Green, HG Designs. The colour was changed to suit the project.
    • I have used a textured paper to digitally paper piece the coffee cups. I have used a textured overlay from Sheila Reid, Pixel Scrapper, to create this paper.
    • The corrugated cardboard used to create the insulated holding area of the cup was purchased from Design TNT via Inky Deals. The colour was altered to suit the project.
    • The little hearts were created with a brush purchased from Julia Khimich Design via Pixelo.

Digital Embellishments:
  • The ribbon used on the front is from the Almost Silent kit created by Correen Silke available at {Computer}Scrapbook.com
  • The bow used as an accent is from the Daddy Day kit created by J. Baechtold available at {Computer}Scrapbook.com.

Digital Embellishment Details:
  • I have used basic shapes as matting in behind the image/sentiment area and for the background.
  • I have applied shadow layer styles to give certain elements some depth. These styles were designed by Sheila Reid, Pixel Scrapper.

Challenges I am hoping to enter...

You have until December 2nd to enter our challenge which should give you lots of time to get a creation done. Remember the theme is Anything Goes. I really hope that you will be able to join us. You can enter three times per challenge and of course MUST follow all the challenge requirements that are posted (please click HERE to become familiar with all the rules).

Pop over to the challenge blog and check out what my fabulous teammates have offered up for inspiration. Oh and don't forget… Pattie offers up a new freebie the first Friday of the month and it will remain up for approximately two weeks; so, be sure to pop over and check it out as well!

Well guys, that is it for this one. Hopefully, I'll see you again soon.

Until next time,

PS: I am happy to say that the papers from the 12 Days of Christmas have been mailed out to everyone I had addresses for. SiskiyouSue if you are out there, please provide me with your email address so I can send the two papers that you earned during the quest.

Happy Easter!!! (& update on 12DoC papers)

Okay, so I'm starting to sound like a broken record. In the aftermath of dealing with some health and personal issues, I just haven't had the time to get the papers sent out to those who joined in for The 12 Days of Christmas. I will go through the rest of the comments and get the list compiled as soon as I am capable of doing so and I appreciate your continued patience.

Now for the other reason for today's post. To those of you who celebrate...
H A P P Y     E A S T E R!

For some of us in this world, we're in the exact same position as last year at this time; unfortunately, in a situation where we are forced to celebrate Easter a little bit differently than most of us normally would. Here in my home town, we've been in lockdown over two weeks again and with the numbers continuing to go up with all these variants, it is hard to say when it will end. If you yourself are in a location where meeting with those outside your home is also prohibited, I can certainly sympathize. Thankfully, with all the technology available these days, reaching out to our loved ones is easier than ever. I hope that you have the opportunity to connect virtually or by phone with those you love during this special long weekend.

Just like last year, since the Easter Bunny is considered an essential service, he will again receive special dispensation allowing him to cross borders and travel into each of the Canadian provinces--as long as he is supplied with the special equipment he needs to do his job safely. I hope that the Easter Bunny has received permission to travel to your part of the world as well.

Hopefully EB will have the opportunity to bring most of you some sweet treats or fragrant ones. My gift to you is this digital paper in honour of today…

In the zip folder you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll be spending the rest of the day with my own amazing hubby who continues to have to go out every day and work since his job is considered essential as well!

Until next time,

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2021!!! (& update on 12DoC papers)

Okay so first things first. I'm soooooooo sorry that I still don't have the papers sent out to those who joined in for The 12 Days of Christmas. Suffice it to say that things have been rather difficult in the last month. Between getting bad news that a close family member has cancer to dealing with a bacterial infection that really did a job on me, it hasn't been an easy time. I will go through the rest of the comments and get the list compiled as soon as I am capable of doing so and I appreciate your continued patience.

Now for the other reason for today's post. Happy St. Patrick's Day folks! Whether you are Irish or simply Irish at heart, for those of you out there who celebrate St. Patrick's Day, I have a brand new freebie for you in honour of the emerald isle.

Check it out...

May you find a shamrock at the bottom of your pint of Guinness while experiencing the luck of the Irish after catching a Leprechaun and convincing him or her to bring you to the pot of gold buried at the end of a rainbow!

The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Ten

Hello everyone! It is the tenth day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. Can you believe there are just two days to go after this one?!

If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details.

Day two: click HERE
Day three: click HERE
Day four: click HERE
Day five: click HERE
Day six: click HERE
Day seven: click HERE
Day eight: click HERE
 Day nine: click HERE

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow. I'll be asking you questions to find out how the pandemic has impacted your life over the last year--how it has affected you, what things you've had to do differently, how you've had to adjust your life--that kind of idea. You will be able to leave your daily answer in a comment on the post for each respective day. If you follow the instructions for each day, you'll earn a free digital paper.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest. It is completely up to you as to when you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise). AS LONG AS ALL your TASKS are submitted, no later than January 12th, 2021, then you will qualify to receive the paper(s) for whichever day(s) you participate.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: Tanata Design (via Creative Fabrica), Julie Campbell Designs (via DesignBundles) and Sheila Reid (both via Pixel Scrapper). In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's task?!!

On the tenth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number ten.
I'm running out of things to say, so I'll just say,
good tidings to all animals, children,

women & men!!!

Task:
This past year has given us an opportunity for a lot of reflection. What is the most surprising thing you've learned this year either about yourself, your family or a new skill that you picked up?

For myself, I've always know that I was empathetic. Now while that is often a positive trait, I found that my empathy was on overload and I didn't know how to shut it down. At times it felt like I could feel the whole world's pain which was completely overbearing. I had to find a way to function because I couldn't manage like that. In a million years I would never have guessed that there was such a thing as having too much empathy but I found myself surprised by this very fact.

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your response in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. If you are new to the quest or are not sure whether I might have your email address, please be sure to also leave your email address in your comment. If you would prefer to keep your address private, then check out the bottom paragraph from Day 1 for how to send it to me.

May your travels this year be safe ones! See you all tomorrow for day number eleven!!!

Cheers!

On the ninth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number nine.
We're nine days in, just three more to go,
All in all, I think it is going just fine!!!

Task:
In our lives we have a tendency to take certain things for granted, expecting someone or something will always be there. The pandemic has certainly helped to put certain things into perspective. What are THREE things that you will never take for granted again?

For myself, I try not to take the people in my life for granted, especially my husband and all the wonderful things he does to help me out. However, that doesn't mean there are other things that I haven't taken for granted at one point or another. One thing that I definitely took for granted was the ability to go and see my parents whenever I liked. I won't make that mistake again. The second thing I won't take for granted is being able to go out and simply get a haircut. I was due for a haircut back at the beginning of March when everything shut down for three months. Then, given the nature of how close you have to be to another person while getting one's hair cut, I decided to wait for the numbers to settle down over the summer. Well, unfortunately, by the time that the summer was done and we were heading into fall, the numbers got worse and worse. Just yesterday our numbers in Ontario were over 3000! The highest yet. It has now been over a year since my hair has been cut and well...long hair is NOT a good look for me. Our province is back in lock down. Even when we do open up again, I have no idea when I'll feel safe enough to go out and get a haircut but is definitely something I won't take for granted again! The third thing I will never take for granted again is being able to give someone a hug. I'm a big hugger and since we can't come in contact with another person outside of our household the only person that I've been able to hug in the last year is my husband. At least I had someone to hug but it is definitely on the list of things I won't take for granted in the future!

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your response in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! Let us hope that this year is a much better one than the previous one was. We normally each have our own issues to deal with but this past year we became a global family all battling one very bad situation in particular. With the new year upon us, it is filled with so many possibilities. I hope that we can leave the tragedies of 2020 behind and look forward to health, happiness and prosperity in 2021!

Let's start off the new year with a freebie, shall we?!!

In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's task?!!

On the seventh day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number seven.
Keep up the good work and before you know it,
you'll soon work your way up to number eleven!!!

Task:
Between shutdowns and reductions in some supply chains, people had a harder time getting in certain items. Have you had any difficulties getting craft supplies during the pandemic? Have you had to rely on more online shopping or have you been able to pick them up at your usual brick and mortar stores?

For myself, I haven't purchased a single physical item this past year. It isn't because I haven't been able to get anything, it is just that with not being able to do any actual crafting, I haven't needed to purchase anything. For my design work that I do for the freebies I offer up, the kits I offer for sale and the papers I make for my Christmas Card blog (The 12 Months of Christmas), I rely on purchasing digital items; so, there hasn't been any problem getting what I need to work with due to the pandemic on that front at least.

Hope this New Year's Eve is a festive one! See you all tomorrow for day number eight!!!

Cheers!

The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Four

It is the fourth day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details. Then for day two, click HERE and for day three click HERE.

Credits include: Alex Green Art (via DesignBundles) and Janet Scott (Pixel Scrapper). In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's clue!!!

On the fourth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number four.
Continue to follow the quest each day,
and you'll get to earn several more!!!

Task:
This past year has been difficult for many. Quite a number of people lost their jobs during shut downs, lockdowns or otherwise. Were you in a position to lend a helping hand to family or some strangers in need this past year OR did someone help you out in some capacity?

For myself and my hubby, we were quite lucky. Hubby only works from Feb. to end of April each year and as a tax specialist his job was considered essential so while so many businesses were shut down in March for almost three months, he was able to work and bring home a pay cheque. In fact, as this year the government extended tax season by a month, we were able to bring in a little extra. While we didn't help anyone we knew we did spend some extra money on food for the food bank since there were so many families in need.

Hope this last Monday of the year finds you in a glorious mood! See you all tomorrow for day number five!!!

Cheers!

Card Design: Pattie's Creations Challenge #174…Anything Goes

http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca

Hello there folks! It is hard to believe that at the end of the summer we are still having so many difficulties with the pandemic. Too many people's lives have been disrupted by this awful virus and far too many people have lost there lives! I hope that each of you is continuing to stay healthy in your own little corner of this world.

I'm popping in today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge. This time around for Challenge #174, the theme is Anything Goes. Once again you can upload your projects with any kind of theme.

In the last month I've heard of three deaths. One of my friends lost her brother due to covid-19, another friend lost her mother due to a heart attack and the third was the accidental death of a young boy only 13 years old who happened to be my best friend's nephew. More lives gone too soon. As such, I'm in need of a few sympathy cards.

General Project Info:
  • This card has been created 100% digitally and then layered in a Mock Up (courtesy of Frisk Shop). It will be printed out and assembled prior to dissemination.

FRONT

 Digital Image Details:
  • Three Daisies: This trio of daisies was the perfect lead in for my sentiment. This image can be found in Pattie's Etsy shop by clicking on the name.
  • These daisies were digitally coloured in Photoshop just to give them an open silhouette look.

Digital Sentiment Details:
  • The sentiment used on the front was one I created way back in 2013. I offered it up for FREE as part of my 100 Followers Celebration. You can find it HERE along with some other word art freebies.

INSIDE

  Digital Sentiment Details:
  • The sentiment used on the inside was also created back in 2013 for a card but never offered up for free. Maybe one of these days, I'll get around to getting it added to the blog.

Digital Embellishments:
  • The base behind the sentiment and the scalloped circle were created from a template designed by Marisa Lerin, Pixel Scrapper.
