Card Design: Gerda Steiner Designs Progressive Challenge...December

 http://gerdasteinerdesigns.com

Helloooooooo!  Just three more sleeps to go to Christmas Day!  Are you ready?  I'm still not.  Christmas is going to be here and gone and I still won't be prepared.

If you missed it, I have a free digi paper to share.  You can find it HERE.  As I have been mentioning, don't forget to pop by on Friday or after the holidays as The 12 Days of Christmas starts on December 25th.  Each day for 12 days, you can earn a free holiday themed digi paper by doing a simple task.

Now on to the purpose of this post.   I'm popping in tonight to share my entry into the Gerda Steiner Designs Progressive Challenge.  Another year of challenges has gone by and I've earned 12 more wonderful images.  I just wanted to say a quick thanks to Gerda for continuing this wonderful progressive challenge.

Now on with my project.  This month we got to work with the following fun image...

http://gsd-stamps.com/collections/shop-digital-stamps/products/copy-of-angel-with-lights-digital-stamps

I love the idea of Santa spreading the message of peace!  Everyone who played along in last month's challenge received Santa Peace for free. If you decide to hop on and play along in the Gerda Steiner Designs Progressive Challenge, then you can purchase this digital by clicking HERE (or on the watermark above to head to its location in the store). This way you'll receive next month's digital stamp for free.

Here are my card and details...

General Info:

  • I have gone pretty CAS with this one.
  • Talk about using scraps and recycling--the patterned paper that I used is from the strip of paper left over at the top when you pull a piece out of a paper pad and the ribbon I used is from an old wash scrubbie that bit the dust.  I knew they'd come in handy for something sooner or later.

FRONT
Digital Image Details:
  • Santa Peace:  You can find this image in the store.  Details above.  This image was coloured in with Copic Markers.  The ground was added in with coloured pencils. I used glitter glue on the fluffy bits of Santa's suit.

Embellishments:

  • The little tiny pearls are Crafts brand and were purchased at Dollarama.
  • As mentioned above, the ribbon has been recycled from an old wash scrubbie that was falling apart and no longer usable in the shower.  I couldn't believe the amount of ribbon that I was able to salvage!

INSIDE
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • The sentiment was created by Paulette from Create with TLC.  You can purchase it in the "Silent Night, Holy Night" Christmas Word Art Set.  I've linked the watermark below to go to its location in the store.  For great freebies and inspiration be sure to click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and for more awesome sets for purchase, click HERE to go to the home page of the store.

Card Design: Path of Positivity #33 Midway--Believe

Hello there my fine friends!  Are you ready for Christmas?  I haven't even started.  I don't even have the hubs' card ready yet nor do I have any of the Christmas cards mailed because I seem to have misplaced my address book.  Yie, yie, yie, yie.  Apparently it is going to be one of those years!

Anyway, I am here to share the card I created for this month's midway for The Path of Positivity Challenge along with the freebies from this month's challenge, which you can find at the bottom of this post.  Don't forget, even if I don't show them here, you can always find two new free sentiments each month, always on the first and third Mondays of the month over on The Path of Positivity Challenge; so, be sure to check in over there.  I'd love for you to join in our challenges as well.  While the themes are different from your average challenge themes, just giving them a little bit of thought can often help you to figure out how a particular project you have, may apply to the theme.

The theme this month is all about the idea of Believing in something.  It isn't important what you believe in, only that you believe in something outside of yourself.  The great thing about the concept of believing in something or someone, is that it can cover such a wide range.  You may simply believe in the immediate people around you.  Knowing that your family and friends are there for you and have your back no matter what.  Or, your beliefs could extend well beyond your inner circle to an acceptance of a higher power that takes care and watches over you and your loved ones.  Believe in the magic of Christmas or just believe in magic period!  Show us what you hold dear to you, what you trust as absolute in your life.

This month our sponsors are...

I opted to work with an image from Pickled Potpourri designs for my card this month.  One of the images that the team chose was a beautiful image called Shine DownThe set comes with three separate elements-- an image of a young girl holding out her hands, a star and also a sentiment.  I found the sentiment so beautiful and perfect for this month's theme.
Check out the preview below to read what the sentiment says...

Shine Down
Shine Down
Isn't that a beautiful thought?  It ties into the whole idea of believing in something outside of ourselves and hoping that life continues on in some capacity after death.  I thought it would make a beautiful sympathy card.

Here are my card and details...

General info:
  • This card was created mostly digitally and then printed out.  The image was coloured by hand and then the card was assembled.

FRONT
Digital Image Details:
  • As mentioned above, the image is available in the Shine Down set.  Click on the watermark above to find its location in the store.
  • This image was coloured in mainly with Copic Markers.  The ground was added using coloured pencils and the flowers, leaves and her eye were coloured using coloured pens.

Embellishments:
  • The glittered 3 dimensional star shape is Crafts brand and was purchased at Dollarama.

Digital Image and Sentiment Details:

Digital Embellishments:
  • The shapes used for matting in behind the image, paper, and sentiment are simple shapes created in Photoshop Elements.
  • The shadows to give each element some depth were created with a layer style from Sheila Reid, with Pixel Scrapper.
