Card Design: Fresh Brewed Fall Flashback

The Fresh Brewed Designs store is filled with so many awesome images that we thought it would be nice to take a stroll down memory lane.  With the Canadian Thanksgiving and Hallowe'en around the corner, it is a good time to reacquaint yourself with (or if you are new to FBD, come meet) the outstanding collection of fall themed images already available in the store.  Whether you are looking for something whimsical, joyful, reverent or just plain fun, Fresh Brewed Designs has it all!

Today, for this Fresh Brewed Fall Flashback I bring you Gourd Birdhouse.  Such a unique image and perfect for the card I decided to create.  Our Canadian Thanksgiving is on October 13th so now is the perfect time for me to get the cards done that I need.
Clicking on the watermark should bring you straight to its location in the FBD store.

Here are my card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • Here is another attempt at clean and simple.  I really do want to make more CAS cards but I always seem to feel that they are underdone for some reason.  Hopefully, it is a feeling that I'll grow out of as I get more practice in.
  • This is also the first time I have ever used washi tape.  I have been purchasing some different ones over the last two years and finally I'm using it.  I really like it and just saw another card that used it in a unique way while doing some DT duties yesterday.  Hopefully, I'll start finding ways to incorporate more of it.  I actually just finished creating 12 digital washi tapes for a Hallowe'en kit for an upcoming challenge I'm sponsoring over at 613 Ave. Create.  I'll be revealing it on Oct. 5th.  It was as fun creating the tapes as it was to use them but now I'm digressing.  Back to the card...

Digital Image Details:
  • Gourd Birdhouse:  This image is currently available in the FBD store.  You can find it by clicking on the image watermark above.
  • I coloured it in with Copics and grounded it with chalk.  Bird:  R11, R14.  Beak: Y35, Y38. Leaves: YG61, YG63.  Sunflower: Y32, Y35, Y38.  Gourd:  YR21, YR23, YR24.  Okay so on hindsight, I should have used different colours for the gourd.  I didn't realize it would be so close to the sunflower.
Embellishments:
  • Green and white checkered washi tape is Elmer brand and was purchased at Dollarama.

Digital Sentiment:
  • This is another great sentiment created by Paulette from Create with TLC.  Click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store.

Digital Design: The Beauty of Butterflies...Week 4

http://nicecranedesigns.com/
Hello everyone!  Welcome to the fourth week of The Beauty of Butterflies give-a-way.  If you missed any of the previous entries, you can click HERE for week 1, HERE for week 2, and HERE for week 3. I can't believe we are halfway through already!

To refresh your memory, once a week, over the course of six weeks (starting August 19th) I will be presenting one section of a special new mini kit I have created called The Beauty of Butterflies.  This kit will contain six items in each of the following categories:
  • Patterned Papers
  • Textured Papers
  • Brads
  • Buttons
  • Journal Cards
  • Tags
I've completed all but the tags so far and since there are only two weeks left, I need to get a move on it!  Once done, there will be a total of 36 items in the kit.  Each week you'll also get a freebie from that section.

This kit was inspired by the beautiful vintage butterflies available from Nicecrane Designs.  One of the wonderful things about the sets available through Nicecrane Designs is that quite a few of the images can be used for commercial use.  This of course is perfect for people like me, who enjoy doing design work.

This week I'll be showcasing the Buttons...

As promised, here is your freebie from this next set:
https://app.box.com/s/fplvvrv8w7a5hhm1zucs
To grab this matching button, click HERE or on the preview above to be taken to a download location. In the zip folder you will find a copy of the button, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders. This button is 687 x 609 pixels, in png format and published at 300 dpi.

Don't forget, you can earn the full set for free...

As a special gift, I've decided to give away the entire Beauty of Butterflies Mini Kit to anyone who can show me proof of purchase of ANYTHING from the Nicecrane Designs store from August 19th until September 30th, 2014 (freebies obtained through the store do not count).  Just email me a copy of a dated Nicecrane Designs receipt with your name on it (PLEASE delete or cover up any other personal identifying information that you want to keep private, ie. address, tel. no. credit card or paypal information, etc.).  I just need something from the store with your name and date on it, a description of what you bought, and the price, in order to confirm your purchase.  It is as simple as that.  Kits will be mailed out as soon as the final section of tags is complete.   If you do make a purchase from the ND store and want this mini kit, just send an email with your proof of purchase attached, to decossesdynamitedoodles {at} yahoo {dot} ca, or by clicking HERE to bring the address up in your email program, with the subject heading, "Beauty of Butterflies Kit Request".  You can find all of Ignacio's wonderful designs in the Nicecrane Designs store.  Click HERE to head there now.

Next week I'll present the Journal Cards to you, including a freebie and a reminder for how to get the full set; so, I'll hope that you'll continue to drop by.

Don't forget, to stay current on ALL the latest releases and to check out the fabulous inspiration from my fellow DT members, be sure to head over to the Nicecrane Designs blog.

Promotional Post: Imagine That DBK Progressive Challenge Change Up This Month

 http://imaginethatdigistamp.blogspot.ca/2014/09/september-challenge-use-any-imagine.html
Hey peeps!  I'm just popping in to let you all know that there is a change to this month's progressive challenge over at the Imagine That Digis By Kris blog.  Normally the way it works is that people who enter the previous month receive the next month's image for free, simply for participating.  Then they use that image to enter the current month's challenge in order to receive the image for the following month...and so on, and so on.  If you don't have the image for any particular month, you can purchase it from the store during the specified month (generally at a discount).

Well this month, Kris is switching things up a little bit and allowing you to enter the progressive challenge using ANY IMAGINE THAT DIGI that you may own (must be an actual image and not just a sentiment).  If you don't own one, you can go over to their Facebook page by clicking HERE and grab a freebie or of course you can purchase any set you would like from the store and use it.  People already part of the progressive challenge can of course use an image from the set, Humphrey's Apples, which was mailed out last week (watermark below) or there is the option of using any Imagine That image.

Everyone who enters using any Imagine That Digis by Kris image during the month of Septemeber will receive October's challenge set FREE!  So why not hop on over and check the challenge out.  Clicking on either the banner at the top of this post or the badge below will take you there.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Until next time,

http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca
Happy Friday everyone!  It is time to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design ChallengeThis time around for Challenge #99, the theme for the next two weeks is Cats OR Dogs.  It is your choice as to which one you choose.  Maybe you'll choose both!

Here is my card, I hope that I haven't forgotten any important details:

General Information:
  • While I have to admit that I am definitely a 'CAT' person, these pups were rather cute and just begging to come out and play.
  • Since this theme is pretty open it allowed me to get an extra Christmas card created for this month.  One more card to add to the Christmas Card Pot to help me avoid the yearly Christmas Card Panic.

Christmas Card Count to date: 18

Digital Image Details:
  • Merry Pups:  These guys are just so cute.  You can find the image in Pattie's Etsy shop by clicking on the name or watermark linked below.

    • It was coloured in with a combination of techniques.  The pups, their hats and the bow were all coloured with Copic markers.  I added some glitter to their hats.  The present was paper pieced using one of my papers (details below).  The ground and grounding around the image was done with coloured pencils.  I added faux stitching around the image digitally before printing.
Embellishments:
  • The ribbon is Crafts brand and was purchased at Dollarama.
  • The pennants are made out of a shimmery red cardstock from Michael's open stock scrapbook paper.
Digital Paper Products:
  • Both the background holly and berries swirl paper and the dark green deck the halls paper are from my Holiday Hoopla collection.

Bookmark Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge #20 Midway Point

It is the first of September.  My goodness, summer is almost officially over with just a few short weeks left in the season!  Where has this past eight months gone?!!!

Today also marks the midway of the latest Scribbles Designs Challenge.

There are two whole weeks left for you to come on over and enter. In case you've missed it, the theme this month for
Challenge #20, is Animal Planet Rabbits, cats and foxes, oh my!  Our world wouldn't be the same without all the wonderful species of animals in it and many of our lives wouldn't be the same without our pets keeping us company.  This month we want to see an animal on your creation.  Whether wild or domestic it doesn't matter; as long as it has fur, feathers, or fins, it qualifies.   So, take a walk on the wild side and show us what you've got.

Entering is super simple!  You do not need to use a Scribbles Designs image; however, if you do, your name gets entered into the draw twice.  You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE or you can also find one for a limited time on the challenge blog HEREAlso, be sure to check out our special Freebie Friday posts as it is another great way to build your Scribbles Designs collection.  You can find the rest of the rules and information regarding winners in the sidebar on the challenge blog.  You have until 9pm PST on September 14th to come over and play with us.

For this card, I've decided to use the freebie that Sandy offered up at the start of the Animal Planet challenge.  You can find it HERE.  It was time to make another magnetic bookmark, this time for the hubs and this sweet little worm on a hook was the perfect inspiration!

Digital Image Details:
  • Worm: Information for how to obtain this image is included above.

So put on those thinking caps and design a project that fits our Animal Planet theme. If you need some images to help you out you can check out all wonderful ones that are in the Scribbles store (you can click the image above to head there now).  Remember there is still two weeks left to enter at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog, so I hope to see you there. If you have some time, I invite you to go and check out the wonderful inspiration offered up from my colleagues on the DT.  With so many possible projects to create, the ideas are boundless.  We always look forward to seeing what you come up with for each month's theme!

But wait, don't forget...
We also have a special challenge going on right now called The Pitter Patter of Little Paws to help celebrate the arrival of Sandy's new puppy.  You get to choose an image for free and then use that image to create a project and enter the challenge.  Then, you also get to enter that creation into our Animal Planet challenge increasing your odds of winning even more Scribbles Designs images.  You can find all the details you need regarding this special challenge HERE.
