The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Four

It is the fourth day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details. Then for day two, click HERE and for day three click HERE.

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow. I'll be asking you questions to find out how the pandemic has impacted your life over the last year--how it has affected you, what things you've had to do differently, how you've had to adjust your life--that kind of idea. You will be able to leave your daily answer in a comment on the post for each respective day. If you follow the instructions for each day, you'll earn a free digital paper.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest. It is completely up to you as to when you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise). AS LONG AS ALL your TASKS are submitted, no later than January 12th, 2021, then you will qualify to receive the paper(s) for whichever day(s) you participate.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: Alex Green Art (via DesignBundles) and Janet Scott (Pixel Scrapper). In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's clue!!!

On the fourth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number four.
Continue to follow the quest each day,
and you'll get to earn several more!!!

Task:
This past year has been difficult for many. Quite a number of people lost their jobs during shut downs, lockdowns or otherwise. Were you in a position to lend a helping hand to family or some strangers in need this past year OR did someone help you out in some capacity?

For myself and my hubby, we were quite lucky. Hubby only works from Feb. to end of April each year and as a tax specialist his job was considered essential so while so many businesses were shut down in March for almost three months, he was able to work and bring home a pay cheque. In fact, as this year the government extended tax season by a month, we were able to bring in a little extra. While we didn't help anyone we knew we did spend some extra money on food for the food bank since there were so many families in need.

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your response in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. If you are new to the quest or are not sure whether I might have your email address, please be sure to also leave your email address in your comment. If you would prefer to keep your address private, then check out the bottom paragraph from Day 1 for how to send it to me.

Hope this last Monday of the year finds you in a glorious mood! See you all tomorrow for day number five!!!

Cheers!

My husband and I were blessed because he works for a company that remained open through the pandemic. I was able to help my daughter out a little and since we received extra money with our stimulus check, I was able to donate more money to the church for the furtherance of the gospel, which so many people during these scary, fearful times needed to hear.

My job is to support others. Together with my team, I wrote a coaching guide for people who had to start working remotely. I also conducted coaching sessions for people with disabilities to support them in looking for a remote job. Hugs Danka

My husband is mostly retired, but so far we are ok. We do make a good bit of donations to different charities throughout the year. My husband used to visit this nursing home, but hasn’t been able to go because of this pandemic, but he still drops off Somethings to this lady he used to visit there.
Have a great day!

WOW...really love this paper, so pretty.

Now...I tried to help many and it didn't work, sharing lots of veggies this summer.

I shared veggie plants and as much of my veggie garden as possible. Things just didn't grow well this year, maybe next year will be different.

Hugs, Lori m

We were able to help out family by getting masks into their hands at the beginning of the pandemic. Kelly worked from home, so we were able to help some family who needed financial assistance. I was not able to work as much and have missed the in person music lessons, but I have had friends invite me to do some extra "creating and planning" which has been very helpful to my morale! Sometimes it's not about the physical need, but the need to feel useful and busy!

I am fortunate that the epidemic has not affected us too much financially. I left my job in November 2019 and was planning to have a few months to work on myself, have a rest and finally get 2 bedrooms decorated that I'd not had time to get done. I was planning to start looking for a new job after Easter and of course that was when the world went crazy. Fortunately we are able to survive on hubby's wage. Having both losing our jobs at the same time in the past we are always careful to not go beyond our means as the rainy days in the past lasted for over 9 months.

We have a really great network of food banks in this area and there is collection point at the local butchers. We have a community page and they ask us to donate whatever is needed at that time. We had a walking street market in May and I sold cards on my drive and all the proceeds went to buying food for the food bank. It seems awful that so many people are going without due to this situation. I know what it is like to have no money coming in and without saving we would never have survived.

In terms of helping people I have been something of a bin monitor to the neighbours. When the pandemic first hit the local council suspended garden refuse collections that were due to start early April but you only knew about it if you received the emails from them. On the first supposed date for collections many of our neighbours had put the bins out so obviously weren't aware of this change. I did a leaflet for each of our neighbours and posted them through all the doors in our street (172 houses). Then whenever they made changes I did an update and posted that through. There were 4 separate leaflet drops that I did in that time and many people put little notes through the door to thank me. It was a nice way to get to know some neighbours I had never met.

We actually are so blessed, especially during the pandemic. We are retired so we didn't have to worry about a job or a paycheck; and have sufficient income for our needs. We did help out with my daughter and her family. Fortunately none of my kids were out of work. My SIL still held his job during the pandemic and worked away from home. Since the twins were out of school we did take them out of their small apartment several times a week to give their parents a break and give them some space to move around. We did give some money to a couple charities and my DH built shields for 2 different places that we volunteer at. Right now we are refinishing furniture at one of those volunteer jobs.

I wasn't really in a position to help anyone out as I lost my main job and mentally I was in a bad place. I am better mentally now and have had casual work in recent times which has helped.

I have an elderly neighbor next door that has some back problems. She would never let me help her prior to the pandemic but between her back and the virus, she let me do her grocery shopping. As if the year wasn't bad enough, we experienced a hurricane and lost power for 4 days. Thanks to my husband thinking ahead, we had a strong generator that we used to alternately run our fridge/freezer and then the neighbors, so neither of us lost any food, which was good as I'd just done the shopping and bought weeks worth to limit our shopping trips. We also gave her an old camping stove we had in case it happens again. We used our grill to cook and didn't need the stove. We started to garden this year, so hopefully next summer we can help the other neighbors on the street too!

We have been blessed to have not been impacted financially. My husband has kept his job and we have stayed healthy.

My S-I-L hasn't been working for much of the pandemic. We've been trying to help her as much as we can.

My husband and I are both retired so we were not affected financially. I am a member of the WI and also a member of our WI Craft and Laugh group. We have been unable to meet obviously but we helped by making scrubs, scrub bags, masks etc for front line workers and also masks for our local community. We also put together "well being packs" for front line workers in an effort to cheer them and help them cope. These included sweets, biscuits, toiletries, note books, pens, face cloths etc and also a hand crafted thank you card.

We are blessed in that my husband is an essential worker so we are doing ok - not great, but okay.
WHile we did not donate to food banks etc, we did donate to a local animal resuce I like to support. With so many losing their jobs, the shelters are having to deal with more intakes as people can't take care of their pets. So we donated food and $ to help them out.

No I haven't been in a position to because of my health, but also, we're retired and everyone we would help out has kept their jobs or haven't needed help. We did help out our neighbors across the street by giving the husband Honey's fire-retardent workshirts so he wouldn't have to buy any as they always struggle paycheck to paycheck. So I guess that might count. We have made donations when we could. XOX

Nice baubles. When the 1st lockdown was on we couldn't get any shopping deliveries :( so whenever someone from our close by friends got a delivery or went out we got things for each other

We have been blessed as my husband's job does not suffered badly. But we helped my brother who lost his job.
