The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Eight

Hello and happy New Year everyone! It is a brand new year full of wonderful amazing possibilities! We just have to wait and coast until most of the world can be vaccinated and then we should start seeing a real difference. Fingers crossed that by the time the New Year rolls around NEXT year, we will ALL be in a better place!

It is the eighth day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details.

Day seven: click HERE

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow. I'll be asking you questions to find out how the pandemic has impacted your life over the last year--how it has affected you, what things you've had to do differently, how you've had to adjust your life--that kind of idea. You will be able to leave your daily answer in a comment on the post for each respective day. If you follow the instructions for each day, you'll earn a free digital paper.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest. It is completely up to you as to when you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise). AS LONG AS ALL your TASKS are submitted, no later than January 12th, 2021, then you will qualify to receive the paper(s) for whichever day(s) you participate.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's task?!!

On the eighth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number eight.
We've been at it a while now, so you'll have to
let me know how I rate!!!

Task:
It is a brand new year and with the creation of the vaccine, there is hope that 2021 will be a better year. What is something you are hoping to do this year, that all the concerns and restrictions in place for the virus, prevented you from doing last year?

For myself, that is the most simplest of answers: visit my parents. My hubby and I live about a 7 and 1/2 hour car drive from my parents. We live in northern Ontario and my folks live in south-western Ontario. While the north has faired relatively well, the south has not. My mom turned 76 in March and my dad turned 80 in May. They both also have different forms of cancer and other health conditions to boot. There was no way I was risking potentially coming in contact with the virus on our trip down (because we always need to stop several times to accommodate my pain issues) and possibly passing it on to my parents. The hardest time for me was in the late fall when my mom ended up in the hospital for a month and my dad was alone when he shouldn't be due to his propensity to have bad falls. With Covid raging, there was no way for us to go down and help out and it almost broke my heart [and me in general]. So, as soon as my parents are vaccinated and we know it is safe to travel (I have my own health issues to worry about), we'll be on our way!!!

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your response in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. If you are new to the quest or are not sure whether I might have your email address, please be sure to also leave your email address in your comment. If you would prefer to keep your address private, then check out the bottom paragraph from Day 1 for how to send it to me.

Hope this first day of the year is the start of a much better one for you and yours! See you all tomorrow for day number nine!!!

Cheers!

I am hoping to get back into a normal routine like I had before this pandemic. Also, I am hoping that I can go back to the scrapbooking events I went to before this virus started.

This is a hard one for me to comment on as we have had no community transmission for some time. I was able to visit my children who live in another city over the Christmas period (and could easily have visited them a month or two earlier). Our only restrictions (if you could call them that) are that we need to sign in to businesses etc that we visit so that there is a contact tracing register if needed. We also need to wear a mask on plane trips (which I tend not to do anyway).
I really hope that everyone worldwide can get to at least the stage that we are in where we are able to freely travel and businesses aren't restricted in their operations in any way.

I am looking forward to seeing my grown kids more, and being able to hug and kiss them like we did before the pandemic. I have only seen them a few times during the pandemic, and since I am high risk they maintained social distancing.
This next thought doesn't apply just to the pandemic but I pray that my health would improve so that I might be able to go back to church, rather than just viewing services online.

I would like to go on vacation to the mountains and the sea. Besides, I hope that I will be able to implement a multinational project. Hugs Danka

First Lisa, I'd like to wish you and your family good health and prayers you can travel to see your parents. You created another beautiful digi paper, thank you again.

This year, for me, I'm going to try and finally accomplish crafty organization....I get two steps forward and ten steps back it seems. Hugs, Lori m

I, like you, will be happy to go visit my Dad who is in a nursing home. I haven't seen him except through the window for almost a year! I also look forward to going out to eat! We haven't been out to eat since this all started. I would also love to take my grandgirls out to do something fun...maybe the zoo!

My wish for this year is very much the same as yours but my parents have already gone to heaven so I want to see my sons. They both live in Boston. Before Tom retired we bought a camping trailer and made several trips with it usually to Florida in January to escape the snow but other trips too. Right now it's been more than a year since we've visited with the boys so they are my main objective right now; to see them.

I missed attending events! I want to go to concerts, the theater, hockey games, and of course stamp shows!!! Many have I missed the expo and the stamp shows! That said, I saved a ton this past year staying home... kinda. Instead I used that money to remodel part of the house, buy a camper, and I upgraded some kitchen appliances. Its all good though!

Gosh so many things thais has stopped us from doing....

In the UK there was a couple of months when the lockdown eased that you could go on holiday but there were so many people crowding together we decided it wasn't sensible and the numbers were rising again. We have had a couple of day trips to the coast when we would have gone a lot more normally.

We have only eaten out once the whole year. Didn't enjoy it at all with the social distancing, screens around tables, wearing masks. My birthday at end of September we would normally do go out but just didn't fancy it at all.

Visit my family!!! All my family live in the north of England and we usually go up every three months. I haven't seen any of them since last Christmas since lockdown stopped my March visit. I really do hope you are able to visit your parents soon. Also hope they have kept well over the holiday season.

Hoping we can travel more. We like to camp and do day trips ... all of that gone last year between the pandemic and mom ... so yeah - looking forward to adventuring again!

I really feel for you, Lisa. It's very hard when loved ones need us and we are not able to aid them.

What is something you are hoping to do this year, that all the concerns and restrictions in place for the virus, prevented you from doing last year?

This is the year that I and almost all my girlfriends turn 65. I want to be able to have a catch-up lunch for all of us who will already have had our birthdays by the time we can get together. Also, my Honey missed his 50th high school reunion in 2020 and I hope they still have one when it's safe! XOX

I'm hoping my daughter can go back to regular girl scout meetings, she has struggled the most this year missing out on her friends.

I could not travel to meet some family members who live abroad. Also some craft supplies I would travel to stock up and no one knows when all Borders will open up for travels again.
