The 12 Days of Christmas Quest: Day Ten

Hello everyone! It is the tenth day of Christmas and it is time to continue the quest. Can you believe there are just two days to go after this one?!

If you missed day one click HERE to start from the beginning and read all the details.

Day two: click HERE
Day three: click HERE
Day four: click HERE
Day five: click HERE
Day six: click HERE
Day seven: click HERE
Day eight: click HERE
 Day nine: click HERE

As a quick refresher, each day during the 12 Days of Christmas (Dec. 25th to Jan. 5th), you're going to be given a task to follow. I'll be asking you questions to find out how the pandemic has impacted your life over the last year--how it has affected you, what things you've had to do differently, how you've had to adjust your life--that kind of idea. You will be able to leave your daily answer in a comment on the post for each respective day. If you follow the instructions for each day, you'll earn a free digital paper.

Since this is a busy time of year for most people, you will have plenty of time to complete the quest. It is completely up to you as to when you submit your answers (daily, all at once at the end, or otherwise). AS LONG AS ALL your TASKS are submitted, no later than January 12th, 2021, then you will qualify to receive the paper(s) for whichever day(s) you participate.

Here is the paper up for grabs today...

This paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. Credits include: Tanata Design (via Creative Fabrica), Julie Campbell Designs (via DesignBundles) and Sheila Reid (both via Pixel Scrapper). In the zip folder that will be emailed should you successfully complete the quest, you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Play along each of the 12 days and you'll earn yourself the full set! So, how about we get started with today's task?!!

On the tenth day of Christmas,
it is time to earn paper number ten.
I'm running out of things to say, so I'll just say,
good tidings to all animals, children,

women & men!!!

Task:
This past year has given us an opportunity for a lot of reflection. What is the most surprising thing you've learned this year either about yourself, your family or a new skill that you picked up?

For myself, I've always know that I was empathetic. Now while that is often a positive trait, I found that my empathy was on overload and I didn't know how to shut it down. At times it felt like I could feel the whole world's pain which was completely overbearing. I had to find a way to function because I couldn't manage like that. In a million years I would never have guessed that there was such a thing as having too much empathy but I found myself surprised by this very fact.

When you come up with a response for today's task, simply leave your response in a comment on THIS POST. Now for many of you, especially those who have played in previous years, the odds are that I should have your e-mail address in order to send out the free paper you earn. If you are new to the quest or are not sure whether I might have your email address, please be sure to also leave your email address in your comment. If you would prefer to keep your address private, then check out the bottom paragraph from Day 1 for how to send it to me.

May your travels this year be safe ones! See you all tomorrow for day number eleven!!!

Cheers!

In July I was able to Zoom with a group of people that I knew when I was in high school. We met together as a religious group that became very close friends. As I went into adulthood I lost contact with the group but in July I found the group again and in turn found a new relationship with Jesus Christ. I hadn't realized how much I missed the group and that personal relationship. So one of my goals for this year is to continue deepening the relationship with God and with the group.

Although I am a woman of faith, I found that my faith wasn't as strong as I had thought because I just couldn't imagine how God would allow this whole thing to happen. I have since come out of this feeling, but at the time it caused me to have a heaviness in my spirit.

This year confirmed that I can adapt to new conditions. What I rejected I had to accept and even like. And this is specifically an on-line job.

Since this pandemic I learned that I can accept changes more than I have before. It hasn’t been easy but I am trying. I know that the normal we knew before will never be the same.
Have a great day!

Although this shouldn't have been a surprise if I had thought about it. I found that while wearing a mask because of rona that my hayfever symptoms lessened. I now wear a mask far more often and have had some improvement in my health as a result. I have also had my sense of smell improve after almost five years of hit and miss whether I could smell things (which is a worry when I can't smell toast burning!).

Hi Lisa, another great paper design.

What I learned about me this past year is, that I can really learn to sew with taking my time and following patterns lol. So, that means, I'm also finally learning to have patience, hugs, Lori m

Wow, I get what you are saying about empathy and such; this must have been very difficult. I'm not sure I've really found anything too surprising. Possibly I have learned Kelly and I can spend 24/7 together and neither of us find it a hardship at all! I've talked to others who can't wait for their spouse to go back to work so they can have time alone, but Kelly and I figured out quite quickly how to make this work for us! We actually have both enjoyed his working at home and I think that surprised him!

The most surprising thing I've learned this year is how few people in my community care enough about others to mask up! We are a selfish lot! I hear that it's too uncomfortable, I can't breathe right, I have the right to not wear it. --I am appalled at the self-centeredness of humanity. What have I learned about myself? I'm not as tolerant as I used to be!

I like people. I like being around people. I like talking to people. I like to think I am a people person. What I learned about myself this past year is that I'm actually okay not being around people all the time! I have come to enjoy a day that has little to no human interaction. And its okay to feel that way!

I learned that I have more to be grateful for than I thought. I made a new recipe this year too. It is Cranberry Apple Crisp. Boy was it good! Edwina Brown

I think the most important realisation has been how little I need in my life to be truly happy. 2020 was all about paring it back and taking it to the basics.

I have seen the very best in people and unfortunately the very worst in others. I have really lost respect for some people due to their extreme attitudes and behaviour. People you thought you knew have behaved in very irresponsible ways :( I have just had to accept that they will do what they wish to irrelevant of current rules or even laws.

Shocked at the fragility of the food industry here, my hubby and I decided to garden for the first time... something we've been wanting to do for years, but we were previously too overwhelmed to tackle it. But 2020 was the push we needed and I'm so happy we started. We did so well, I also learned to can and dehydrate to preserve our harvest. I learned that self sufficiency is attainable in a small backyard... much more than you would expect. Now if I can just sneak chickens or dairy goats past the HOA!

The most surprising thing I've learned about myself is that my hair is much healthier when I don't wash it nearly as much as I always have before COVID. Strange but true. It's thicker now.

How cute are those gingerbread men. I've not really learnt anything new but have been working on learning more that I can do with my cricut machine

I have learned how to use epoxy resin, in molds and making tumblers and cups. I really enjoyed having that to focus on and keeping my mind busy.

I am a better cook as many people are still working from home or studying online and I have been cooking a lot today, LOL ?! Also encouraging friends to co-operate with the Govt mandating wearing the masks and social distancing. This way faster to contain the virus and reducing new cases and deaths.
