Card Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge #19 Midway Point

The weekend is almost upon us.  I can't believe how fast this week has zoomed by.  Unfortunately, I didn't get half of what I needed to, accomplished.  Thankfully though, I did finish up my card for the midway of the latest Scribbles Designs Challenge.

There are two whole weeks left for you to come on over and enter. In case you've missed it, the theme this month for Challenge #19, is Sea, Sand & Surf Right now, North America is experiencing the lazy days of summer. Just think...cool waters, splashing in the waves, and sand castles.  Ahh...there is nothing like a lazy day at the beach.  So, for this challenge we want to see your projects with sea, sand, surf or any of the wonderful symbols associated with beach time.  Surf's up, will you catch the wave?

Entering is super simple!  You do not need to use a Scribbles Designs image; however, if you do, your name gets entered into the draw twice.  You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE or you can also find one for a limited time on the challenge blog HEREAlso, be sure to check out our special Freebie Friday posts as it is another great way to build your Scribbles Designs collection.  You can find the rest of the rules and information regarding winners in the sidebar on the challenge blog.  You have until 9pm PST on August 14th to come over and play with us.

For this card, I've decided to use Brrr's wonderful buddy Burt!  Burt is such a cutie pie and definitely deserves a spotlight all his own.  In fact I've created a special paper featuring Burt that will be released shortly when Sandy and I unveil the start of our collobaration called Scribble Doodle Designs.  In this project I've used one of the textured papers from our Sizzlin' Summer set and of course Burt all on his own.  Click on the name or watermark below to take you to its location in the store.

Here are my card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • I REALLY, REALLY want to start making some clean and simple cards (CAS).  I just think they have a slick look that I'd like to be able to pull off in some of my work.  I've been casing A LOT of CAS sketches lately and hope to start adding the CAS look to my repertoire soon.  I think that this one turned out pretty half decent and definitely qualifies for the CAS look.
FRONT
Digital Image Details:
  • Burt: Information for how to obtain this image is included above.
    • I brought this image into Photoshop Elements and coloured it digitally.  Then printed it and fussy cut it.
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • I created a banner shape by editing a banner template I have from Pixel Scrapper and recoloured it.  I then added the text on top of it.  This was also fussy cut and then added to the top of the card.
Embellishment:
  • The button came from a collection I bought at the Dollar Tree.
Punch:
  • I used a Fiskars punch for the waves.  I made three different ones to give the 'water' some depth.  Making the middle one a different shade of blue helped to give it some differentiation.

INSIDE
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • This great sentiment was created by Paulette from Create with TLC.  Click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store.
Digital Paper:
  • As mentioned above, the digital paper I used on the inside of the card is from our new Scribble Doodle Designs, Sizzlin' Summer Textured Papers pack.  We'll be launching this collection along with the Patterned Papers pack, real soon!
OVERALL
Paper Products:
  • Card, image, sentiment and digital paper base bases: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • The waves were made from two different blue pieces from Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, Cool Water Collection.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...
