Card Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge # 11 Midway Point

It is time to present my midway card for the Scribbles Design Challenge blog.  There are two whole weeks left for you to come on over and enter. In case you've missed it, the theme this month for Challenge #11, is Remembrance With Fancy FoldsAs I mentioned at the challenge start, remembrance can mean many things to different people.  For some it can be about honouring those individuals who have risked and those who continue to risk their lives to keep us safe.  For others it can be about wanting to note a special occasion that may have happened in the past.  It can be about nostalgia or it could be about remembering a loved one who is no longer with us.  Let's remember someone or something important with a project with the added optional design theme of fancy folds.

Entering is super simple:
  • You do not need to use a Scribbles Designs image; however, if you do, your name gets entered into the draw twice.  You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE or you can find some free sentiments from Sandy's personal blog HERE.  You can also find one for a limited time on the challenge blog HERE.
  • Follow the theme of the challenge.
  • Enter as many times as you'd like with an SD image.  If you aren't using an SD image you will be limited to three entries.
  • Combine your entry with other challenges.
  • New projects/cards only - no back linking.
You have until 9pm PST on December 14th to come over and play with us. Winners, chosen by Random.org, receive 3 digital images; additionally, there will be 1 digital image handed out for each of the Top 3, chosen by the Scribbles Designs Design Team and possibly some other goodies too.

I had a chance to create a project to help provide you with a little extra inspiration.  Here are the card details.  I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:

  • Those of you who have been following me for awhile, know that I was blessed at the end of 2011 to finally come to know of a first cousin that had been secretly given up for adoption as a baby.  Growing up as an only child with only two first cousins both male, it was incredible to find out at this stage of my life that I had another cousin out there, this time female and only three months younger than I am.  If you are new and would like to read how I found out about her, you can click HERE.
  • Last year I started a tradition of sending Karen a card to commemorate the day she came into my life.  I believe that it is important for me to remember and acknowledge such a blessing in my life.  This month's theme of Remembrance, is the perfect opportunity for me to showcase that card.

FRONT
Digital Images:
  • Frame 2:  Clicking on the watermark below will take you to its location in the store.

    • I coloured the frame in Photoshop Elements 5 (PE5) to match the cardstock I was using for my base.
  • Mr. Wool Daisy:  Once again, clicking on the watermark below will take you to its location in the store.

  • I love Mr. Wool.  He can be such a baaaaaaa-d ass, and then he can be the cute lovable little mutton you see here.  I coloured him with Copic markers.  Mr. Wool: colourless blender, N0, C1.  Flower, R20, R22, Y35.

Digital Sentiment:
  • Celebrate:  This word is from a collection of words and phrases that are all part of one sheet.  You just crop down and use the word you want.  As always, click on the watermark below to find it in the store.

Other Notes:
  • Before printing, I brought Mr. Wool Daisy into PE5, and centred it on top of the frame.  Next I added the word, 'celebrate' and then printed it out as one piece.
  • Next I fussy cut out the combined images.  It was interesting because as I was cutting around the bottom of the frame, I noticed a very tiny signature.  I had never noticed Sandy's signature in other images before, so now I am going to very carefully look for them in others.  It was so well camouflaged that if I hadn't of cut out the frame, I'd never have noticed it.

INSIDE

Digital Sentiment:
  • One I created to express my thoughts on the occasion.

OVERALL
Paper Products:

  • Card base: Michael's open stock scrapbook paper.
  • Designer Papers:
    • Papers used both front and inside are from Recollection's Mosaic Memories Paper Pad.
Additional Notes:
  • I just want to give a shout out to my Scribbles Designs Teammate, Nick.  At the beginning of the challenge she created a phenomenal card using this type of card fold.  I had never seen it before, in fact, I have no idea what it is called.  I was inspired to follow her idea though for my fancy fold option for the midway.  So, thanks Nick for your continued inspiration.  You can check out all Nick's incredible work on her blog Nick's Scrap Shack.  You can see the card she created using this unique fold by clicking HERE.
So put on those thinking caps and design a project that fits our theme.  With so many possible projects to create, the ideas are boundless.  Remember there is still two weeks left to enter at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog. so I hope to see you there. If you have some time, I invite you to go and check out the wonderful inspiration offered up from my colleagues on the DT.  We always look forward to seeing what you come up with for each month's theme!

Until next time,

What a cute card and a great design, Lisa! I often end up making square cards, and this is a great idea for a "square with a twist" design!
