Digital Design: Imagine That...Gingerbread Scene & Papers

Hello to all you fine people out there!  With just two days left in the month, it is time that I show you my third and final Imagine That! Digis by Kris project for May.  Although, today I'm going to show you something a little bit different.

Last year, before I joined the IT team, I received a wonderfully generous gift from Kris in the form of her Gingerbread Scene Digi Set and accompanying Gingerbread Digital Papers.  Well, I've been itching to make a set of brads using several of the items from that set for use on some future Christmas cards.  Last night, I finally got the chance to.

General Info:
  • I have five sets of brad templates:  a .3 in. circle; a 1 in. circle;  a 1.3 x .7 rectangle; a .7 in. square; and a 1 in. square (please note sizes are approximations).  Within each of these sets there are ten different types of metal edgings (for ex., gold, silver, copper, pewter, chrome, etc.).
  • There are five images within the Gingerbread Scene Digi Set that I specifically wanted to make into brads. I also used three papers from the Gingerbread Digital Papers set, and two papers from the Christmas Snowflakes Digital Papers set for the background of the brads.
  • So, for the purposes of what I am showing you today, I have put each of the images and an accompanying paper into one of the different brad shapes.

Check them out...
Digital Image Details:
  • Gingerbread Scene: I just love the individual elements in this set!  They are all perfect additions to any holiday card!  And, the ones I've used in my brad set are just a few of the items in the set, there are many more that you can see in the preview below.  Please click on the watermark below to find the set in the store.

  • The brads have been made with templates that were designed by Marisa Lerin, Pixel Scrapper.  I have used the iron metal in the ones shown above.  The shadows have been added for display purposes.
Digital Paper Details:
  • As mentioned above, I have used three papers from the Gingerbread Digital Papers set, and two papers from the Christmas Snowflakes Digital Papers set for the background of the brads.  I have also used one of the papers as the background for my display.  Please click on the watermarks below to find the sets in the store.

Important to note...

Now if you too enjoy digital design, please note that not all artists allow their images to be used in digital projects such as the ones I have created above.  So, be sure to carefully check the terms of use and if it isn't covered, contact the artist.  Keep in mind that in the majority of circumstances, even if you are allowed to use the items to create digital products, unless you have purchased an image with a commercial use license or are granted special permission, the digital creations you make, will be for your own personal use ONLY.

While Kris does allow people to create digital items with her digis and papers, the resulting creations are for your own personal use. Should you wish to give away or sell digital items using Imagine That! Digis by Kris products (ie. non-printed/non-handmade projects), you would need special permission to do so.

And guess what...
Kris has done exactly that!  I have received special permission to have a blog draw.

Watch for your chance to earn the full set of 50 digital brads, coming soon...
That is five different shapes and images X ten different metal casings for a total of 50 digital brads that you can use on your own holiday cards! Of course, you're going to have to do a little work to have your chance to earn them, but don't worry, it won't be anything too strenuous.

Look for the draw coming in July as part of a special Christmas in July with Imagine That! Digis by Kris post.

Well folks, that is it for this one!

Stay tuned for more Imagine That! Digis by Kris creations coming your way soon, along with all my regular features and design team posts.  In fact, there is a special new release coming up on Monday that will be sure to make your mouth water!  So, I hope you'll be back to check it out.

Until next time,

Hello to you all again on this fine Friday.  Thankfully, I've managed to put together another creation this month for Nicecrane Designs featuring a couple of beautiful vintage images from the Ella Du Cane Bookmarks collection.

Here are my bookmark and the details...

General Information:

  • While these bookmarks come with a coloured version for the front and a sort of sepia tone for the back, I've decided to use only the coloured portion and allow my textured paper to serve as a plain background.

Card Design: From the Heart Stamps May Challenge

http://fromtheheartstamps.com/community/blog/
It is time to post my project for the May, From the Heart Stamps (FTHS) progressive stamp of the month challenge. Thank goodness I got it done in time. I'd hate to miss out on the opportunity to earn more stamps from such an incredible designer!

In order to enter the progressive challenge, you must either have received the latest image by having participated in the previous month or you can buy the stamp for the current month's challenge.  Everyone who enters and follows the rules is a winner because you automatically get the stamp for the next month's challenge.  Stop by the site and check out the rules for yourself.  While you are there, have a look around.  They have some really awesome images.

This time around I decided to make a 'congratulations on your pregnancy' card.  Here is my project and the details.  I hope I haven't forgotten anything important...

General Information:

  • I thought carefully about what I wanted to do with this particular image.  I already had a Mother's Day card but thought it still might lend itself well to a thank you card of sorts for my parents.  I went back and forth between that idea and the one I decided on.  The great thing is that because the card is mostly done digitally, I could easily swap out the inside sentiment and then just have to print, colour and assemble to create the thank you card I was thinking of.  I love that about digital.  You end up with lots of different reusable templates where you can just swap things out if you want.

FRONT
Digital Image Details:
  • The image on the front, Apple Blossom Birds, is available for purchase over at From the Heart Stamps. Click HERE or on the watermark below to go to its location in the store.
  • If you missed out, you can still play along with the challenge by purchasing the image. Then you can enter the challenge and receive next month’s digi free. Alternatively, if you spend $10 in the From The Heart Stamps store this month, you'll receive the image for free.  To find the special code you need, be sure to check out the original post by clicking HERE.

Digital Sentiment Details:
  • One I created specifically for this card.
Digital Embellishments:
  • The pennant shape was created using a template from Marisa Lerin, Pixel Scrapper.  I paper pieced it with a digital paper from my Mommy Dearest: Patterned Papers kit (preview below).
  • The digital brad and ribbon are from the Mommy Dearest: Buttons Bows and Brads section.

Card Design: Imagine That...Joy Birds

Good evening all!  I'm quickly running out of month so it is time that I show you my second Imagine That! Digis by Kris project for May.

General Info:
  • Time for some more recycling!  The red cardstock with the little white snowflake-like dots is actually the back of an old Christmas card we received.  A little strategic placing of the image and the card insignia is all covered up.  Hopefully I'll find a recycle challenge to enter it into!
  • I haven't been getting many Christmas cards done so it was definitely time to add another one to the Christmas Card Pot.
Christmas Cards to date for 2015:  13

FRONT
Digital Image Details:
  • Joy Birds: These birds are just so cute.  They are all set for the Christmas weather (which thankfully won't be for a while around here) and ready to bring joy into someone's life during the holidays!  As usual, I've chosen to work with the coloured version for this project.  Please click on the watermark below to find the set in the store.
