Card Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge #6--Manly Men

~warning:  picture loaded~

It is time for the next challenge over at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog.

This month we are looking for projects that Celebrate The Men in Our Lives:  Manly Men, Maculine, & Dads. The men in our lives also deserve honour or recognition, especially with Father's day coming up tomorrow. Now many of us struggle to make masuline cards but this is your perfect opportunity to get some practice in.

Remember you NO LONGER NEED TO USE A SCRIBBLES DESIGNS IMAGE on your project.  You still must follow the monthly theme and you can enter as many times as you'd like AS LONG AS YOU USE A SCRIBBLES DESIGNS IMAGE. However, if you choose to enter the challenge using another artist's image you are limited to three entriesAs always, you are welcome to combine your entry with other challenges and we ask that you enter new projects/cards only - no back linking, plus the standard rules of linking your blog post and mentioning Scribbles Designs in your post.  This challenge will end at 9pm PST on July 15th.

The winner, chosen by Random.org will receive 3 digital images.  If you use a Scribbles Designs image, please add SD after your name--example: Lisa SD--and your name will be entered twice into the drawing for the prize.  Additionally, there will be 1 digital image handed out for each of the Top 3, chosen by the Scribbles Designs Design Team.  We look forward to seeing your interpretation of this month's theme. There also might be some extra recognition or prizes, you just never know.

You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE.
You can also find some free sentiments from Sandy's personal blog HERE and there is a free one over on the challenge blog as well.

To help inspire you, I've created a card using three of Sandy's wonderful images from the store.  Click on each to take you to its location in the store.

#303 Cool Carl

#304 Carl Close Up

#308 Carl I You
Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Notes:

  • I think I actually managed to get through creating a Scribbles card without screwing it up in some fashion.  Yay, my job is safe and secure this month!
  • I don't know what it is about Carl but there is just something extra special about this particular frog that makes me sway at the knees.  He is quite the little heartthrob isn't he?
FRONT

Digital Image:
  • Cool Carl:  Information for where to buy this image is included above.  It was coloured using Copic markersYG00, YG03, YG06, YG09.
    • Sky and clouds (brushes): I'm actually starting to get the hang of things creating my own sky and clouds with brushes.  I'd dare say it actually looks like a sky with some clouds!  Brushes courtesy of: Leboef.
    • I am also getting better at creating grass.  I used a mixture of brushes and colours.
  • I must thank Calypso, one of my teammates.  I sort of downloaded all the pictures of her cards that had Carl on them, printed them out and used them as reference.  Calypso is one incredible colourer and definitely deserves props.
Here is a closer look at the studly dude...

Digital Sentiment:
  • Mine.
Ribbon:
  • Café Au Lait ribbon is Crafts brand from Dollarama.
Embellishments:
  • Little green half pearls are also Crafts brand from Dollarama.

INSIDE

Digital Image:
  • Carl I You:  Information for where to buy this image is included above.  Carl was coloured using the same colours as above.  Grounding around image was added with BG10 and the colourless blender and the ground with watercolour pencils.
Here is a closer look at gorgeous green heartthrob...

Digital Sentiment:
  • Mine as well.

BACK

Digital Image:
  • Now, I am doing something a bit different today, I am actually showing you what the back looks like too.  I haven't done this yet.  Normally I'll add my signature file along with the credit information to the back of every card.  Most angel policies make this part of the request--that somewhere on the project you credit them.  I've found that including the information with the my signature stamp on the back works best for me.  Usually, I'll put a shadow in behind it to make it stand out and sometimes I'll add papers that I used on the front.  This time I also added an image.
  • Carl Close UpInformation for where to buy this image is included above.  Carl was coloured using the same colours as the other two.  This was the perfect opportunity to try out one of the close-up images
Overall view of the back...

With a closer look...

Challenges I hope to enter include:
More challenges may be added throughout the week and/or month ahead.

So get those creative juices flowing and come up with a card honouring dad or another special man in your life.  Remember you have an entire month to  enter at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog.  While you are there, please check out the great inspiration offered up from my colleagues on the DT.  We look forward to seeing what you come up with for this month's theme!

Yeah I finally finished going through this post.  It only took me 40 minutes to preview it because the internet kept shorting out.  It is going to be a looooooonnnnnnnnnng week, my friends.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  As I've now added to my comment section, whether you are a regular, here for the first time or popping over in your official capacity as a DT member, please know how much I appreciate the words that you leave behind.  Your encouragement helps me to become a better designer.   I try my best to reply to your comments (when an email address is available) but that is getting more and more difficult as my plate fills up with new responsibilities, new roles, and new obligations.  If I don't get the opportunity to thank you personally, know that I don't take a single comment for granted. Thank you for your understanding.

Until next time,

Note: I apologize if there are any formatting issues.  This is a scheduled post and we all know Blogger has a mind of it's own.  If it turns out that something looks wonky, i.e.--part of the sentence a different size, font or colour than the rest, I'll fix it as soon as I'm able to.
