Card Design: Deedee's Digi of the Month Challenge...January Entry #2

Progressive Freebie Challenge!
Given the fabulous deal taking place over at Deedee's Digis, I decided to sneak another creation in to earn another $10 gift certificate and another chance at the $50 draw.  If you missed my first post, the current freebie is the image for January's Digi of the Month Challenge.  On top of that, anyone who participates in this month's challenge will receive a $10 gift code to the shop for EVERY unique entry plus be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift code to the shop.  Then, everyone who plays along with this month's challenge will also receive next month's featured set for free at the end of the challenge. I choose a simple layout and did most of the work digitally to come up with a second card to enter.

Check out the cute set available for free right now...

Here are my card and details...

General Information:
  • This time I have decided to make a birthday card.  With several birthdays coming up in the next few months, I'm going to need a number of them!  I think this one will be for my cousin Blair's stepson, Alex, who has a birthday coming up in March.

FRONT
Digital Image Details:
  • Ice Fishing:  You can find this set in the store.  Details above.  I used the coloured version from the set.
Digital Embellishments:
  • The shapes I used as accent pieces were paper pieced with one of the papers available in the Ice Fishing set.
  • The pennant shapes were created using a template from Marisa Lerin, a designer with Pixel Scrapper.
Digital Paper Products:
  • The paper used on the front was created using a template also from Marisa Lerin.

INSIDE
Digital Sentiment Details:
  • One of the reasons I decided to make another card with this image is because I knew I had the perfect sentiment to go with it.  It was created by Paulette from Create with TLC. While I picked it up as a freebie quite a while back, you can find it in the sweet Freeze A Jolly Good Fellow Digi Image Set I recoloured it digitally to match the colours in the image.  To find other great sets in the store, click HERE; and to check out Paulette's blog, click HERE.

OVERALL
Paper Products:
  • Card, image and sentiment base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
 Digital Embellishments:
  • The shapes I used as as matting were created with basic shapes in Photoshop Elements and then coloured to match the overall colour scheme.
Challenges I am entering:
Other challenges I hope to enter...

Thanks again to everyone who continues to leave wishes of condolences over the loss of my husband's mother.  It has been a difficult week but there is lots to take care of over these next several days as we say goodbye to January and hello to February.  I hope I can manage to get it all done.

Until next time,

What a marvelous birthday card, Lisa! You are right, that sentiment goes so perfectly with the image. I love the layout you used, and the crinkly look to the cardstock base works great for a wintery card. So darling! I'm so thrilled you came back to play with us again at Deedee's Digis. Your code will be in your email shortly, and I'll be sending the next digi set this weekend. I hope you'll come play with us again next month! :-)
