Scribbles Designs Winner Announcement for Challenge #7 + New Releases

Howdy everyone.  Hope this Saturday finds you all well.  It has been over two weeks now and I'm still battling the effects of this nasty virus.  I remain hopeful that it will dissipate soon.  Thank you for all your concern, well wishes and cyber hugs.  They really have meant the world to me.

In case you have missed it, the winners for Challenge #7:  Celebrate the Nation have been picked and posted over on the challenge blog.  If you entered this challenge and haven't checked already, make sure you head on over and see if you are our Top Scribbler, are part of our Top Three or whether you may have won any other goodies.
The Top Scribbler, chosen by Random.org, will receive 3 digital images.  Each of the Top 3, chosen by the Scribbles Designs Design Team, will receive 1 digital image each.  Then we also have a winner for our sponsored prize from Bugaboo and another project receiving a special gold star.  Lots of treats to go around.  So hopefully you had the chance to claim them if you entered.

Right now we have our latest challenge going on.  The theme this month is Clean and Simple (CAS)You have until the 14th of September to get your entries in.  Don't forget you no longer need to use an SD image so there is nothing holding you back.   You can find out all the details you need for participating by clicking HERE.
Today, I have another image to share with all of you.  BBQ season is in full swing; so, now is the perfect time to pick up your BBQ apron.  It is perfect for all those invites or meal time thank you cards.  It is also great for any masculine card in general.

#920 BBQ Apron

(Clicking on the above watermark should take you to its location within the Scribbles Designs Store.)

Will you be barbecuing tonight or sometime this weekend?  While we no longer own a BBQ, I do have many fond memories of Saturday nights just like this one.  When I was young, growing up and living in southern Ontario with my parents, every Saturday night we'd have steak and baked potatoes, carrots and onions all cooked on the BBQ.  Rain or shine, winter or summer; it didn't matter, as my poppa would just open up the garage door and BBQ inside.  These are the times I would have long discussions about things going on in my life or just chat in general with my dad BBQ side, as he cooked our supper.  This image will be perfect for a card to send to my dad thanking him for all those special memories I still carry with me.

Do you know any avid grillers?  A husband, your own father or another special man perhaps?  Or is there a special female in your life responsible for putting BBQ'd food on the table?  Whoever actually does the grilling, would love to receive a card with this special digi on it.
So, why not head to the store and grab the image while it is fresh in your mind.  Psst...don't forget to stop by the current challenge post and grab another great freebie available for a limited time by clicking HERE.

I hope you will join me tomorrow as I unveil my midway card for the current challenge.

Until then...

Card Design: Delightful Inspiration August Challenge

It is time for me to post my card for the Delightful Inspiration progressive stamp of the month challenge.  In order to enter this challenge, you must either have received the latest image by having participated in the previous month or you can buy the stamp for the current month's challenge.  Everyone who enters and follows the rules is a winner because you automatically get the stamp for the next month's challenge.  Stop by the site and check out the rules for yourself.  While you are there, have a look around.  They have some really great images.  Below you will find the card I'm entering for the August challenge.

Here are my card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • Phew...wasn't sure I was going to get this one done and in on time.  I've just a few hours to go before the challenge closes.  I haven't had to push it this close in a couple of months and I hate the feeling.  Here's my advice.  DON'T GET SICK! It really does bad things with your time management.
  • This card has a long journey to make so I wanted to keep it pretty flat.
  • I also wanted the opportunity to use up some of my scraps so I decided to create a number of flags or pennants or whatever you want to call them and kept things pretty clean and simple.
  • There are a couple people I know celebrating 50th birthdays soon.  I thought that this image and sentiment were 'purrfect' for the occasion.
 FRONT
Digital Image:
  • The image on the front, Cat's out of the Bag, is available for purchase over at Delightful Inspirations.  Click HERE to go to its location in the store.  It is just too cute for its own good!

    •  The sky and grass were added in with chalks.
Digital Sentiment:
  • Cat's out of the Bag:  This cute sentiment, perfectly punacious, is part of the great set available from Delightful Inspirations.  Not only do we get a fabulous image each month, we also get some cute sentiments as well.

Well, that is post number six done for today (two of the posts were for two other blogs).  I think I am done today.  I start again tomorrow so I hope I'll see you then.  EDIT:  Oops, I can't tell time again.  Two of the posts I speak of, one for here and one elsewhere, will be coming out in just a little under two hours so I guess this isn't the last post of today is it?

Oh and Patti, if you do manage to get back here and are reading this, I hope your bronchitis is gone real soon.  I don't envy you there.  For anyone else who is under the weather, I also wish you a speedy recovery.

Until next time,

Come Join Me...

Hello!  It is going to be a rather busy long weekend over her on my blog.  I hope that I am up to the task.

I'm not sure whether I've told you guys yet but I am the official Promotional Coordinator for Creative Bug Digitals.  Basically what that means is that I take care of all the posts related to the freebies and new releases going on, as well as being in charge of the DT which we are hoping to establish very soon (if you are interested there is a link in my left sidebar that will take you to the post with all the details).  This position started out in my head and now it is a reality.  See what happens when you think as though your dreams already exist?  Anyways, those of you who are readers or followers of Creative Bug on the Loose, already know this, but there are some of you who may not.

Since April, I have been offering up sneak peeks (over on Creative Bug on the Loose ) for the upcoming freebies and new releases that I post for Naomi.  You've seen these images; I've been showing them to you since I first met Naomi and took it upon myself to start promoting her awesome digis.  Well, it has dawned on me that I haven't invited you over for the Saturday Sneak Peeks.  So shame on me.

Each Saturday I present a sneak peek of the image that will be coming out later in the week.  This presents readers with a chance to earn extra treats as I offer goodies up for grabs for people who correctly guess what the upcoming image will be.  It doesn't matter how outrageous the guess, Naomi and I like to see them all.  Sometimes I award the extra goody to anybody who guesses.  You never know what my criteria will be for awarding these extra 'presents' so it is always a good idea to get your guesses in.

Currently, we are in the midst of six weeks of...
I've been sharing interesting facts and information about sock monkeys during this time.  If you are interested in starting at the beginning you can go HERE.  You can then continue on the journey of the history of these endearing creations by heading HERE.

I'd love for you to join me each Saturday and get your guesses in for the opportunity to win sentiments, papers and other treats.  Your odds are always very good.

So join me today, I'm just a click away!
Click HERE to head there now!

I do hope that you will pop by and see me later today.  A couple hours ago I showed you the awesome new digis from San's Design and a little later this evening I have a new one from Scribbles Designs to introduce, along with the winners announcement from the last challenge.

As, I mentioned earlier, it is a busy weekend over here, so strap yourself in and get ready for an explosion of new ideas, new releases and new inspiration!  I don't call the blog Décosse's DYNAMITE Doodles for nothin'!

Until then,

Card Design: San's Design August New Release Preview

Hello everyone!  There is a great new release coming out tomorrow over at San's Design but I just couldn't wait to show you what I created. Here is the watermark of the fabulous new image I used in my card.

This is such a sweet little image.  I have a young cousin who is about to turn five years old in just a few weeks and when I saw this digi as part of the new release package, I just knew I had to use it!  Here is the card I made for her...

FRONT
Digital Images:
  • Girl on swing:  I have coloured her in using Copic markers.  Y11, Y13 and Y15 for her hair.  E000, E00, E02, and R20 for her skin.  B00 for her eyes.  Then for her clothing and shoes I used YR000, YR00, and YR02.  For the tire I used C3, C5, and C7.
  • Here is a closer look at this precious young lady...
  • The sky and clouds were created using a pattern from Webtreats, Etc.
  • The tree is an image I picked up over at 123RF. The artist who created this image is Sergey Chernov.
  • The grass is also an image picked up at the same site.  This time the artist's name is chainat.
  • Both images have been used in accordance with the terms set forth at 123RF.
Digital Sentiment:
  • The digital sentiment I used on the front is also by San and you can find it as part of the English Birthday set.  Clicking on the watermark below will take you to its location in the store.  I just added my cousin's name to the centre before printing.
 Embellishments:
  • The green 1/2 pearls I used are Crafts brand from Dollarama.
INSIDE
Digital Sentiment:
  • I fussy cut a second of the same digital sentiment I used on the front and added it to the inside for an extra personalized touch.
  • The sentiment on the right is one I created.  Here is a closer look so you can read what it says (yes I do have a thing for puns.  While the five year old won't get it, her parents certainly will)...

OVERALL
Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, ivory.
  • Designer Papers:  I am really pleased to say that all of the designer papers used to create this project were created by ME!  Anyone who saw my Wonderful Wednesday post this week (which you can find by clicking HERE) might recognize this paper, as I used it in my creations.  The polka dotted paper was created especially for a reader who won a digital paper of her choice, on my blog.  The design of the dotted paper and colour choices were made by the winner and I just put it all together for her.  For this project I decided to create two accompanying papers, one in green-apple and the other in peach to match the coloured dots.  So, now I have a new 4 piece mini-pack of papers (because I decided to create a solid yellow one at the same time) to add to my store once I figure out where, what, who, and how that store is going to come into existence.
  • Here is a little sneak peek of that paper pack...
(if you want a better view, left click it to bring it up in the lightbox.)

The watermarked image I used in my project from San's Designs will be available on Saturday when the new releases come out. If you are interested in the birthday set, you can get that now.

I am so glad you have had the chance to stop by and check out my latest creation.  Please join me Saturday to find out the other sweet images coming available.  You don't want to miss it.

Details for Recent Christmas Card

Hey everyone!  Before too much time passes I figured I better show the deets to the recent Christmas card I created.  This card was for the Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge.  So while I'm not 100% feeling better by any means, at least I'm no longer propped up over the keyboard so here we go...

As a refresher, here is the front of the card...

FRONT
 Digital Image:
  • As mentioned previously in the original post, the word art used in this card is from Nana Vic Digitals.
    • I recoloured the image in Publisher and printed it out.
Card Recipe:
  •  As mentioned in the last 'episode' I really do think this is one of my favourite cards.  It is definitely my favourite Christmas card of the bunch.
  • My original design idea was to keep things pretty simple and let the word art speak for itself.  Now I don't believe I've ever done a white on white kind of card.
  • So, since I don't have any embossing tools, I decided that the best approach was to create some interesting shapes.  So I ended up using my Cricut machine and decided that I would create a frame for the word art.
  • However, that wasn't going to be enough detail; so, I decided to create a larger piece using the same shape and use it to create the base for the image.  I then cut a card shape a little bit smaller (so the holes would have empty air behind them) and something that I could adhere all the layers to.
  • First though, I inked up the edges using an antique goldy-sandy colour to 'dirty' it up a little.  Next, I glued all the top layers together.
  • This is where the fun started.  Once I knew the overall design, I needed to start thinking dimension.  So, I added a really pretty sparkly red ribbon (Celebrate It brand from Michaels) in the upper left corner.
  • Now, this next step is what I am most proud of.  I got so many wonderful compliments on this card and my flower.  A few people even said they had the same flower die I used.  Well, here is the kicker.  All but the VERY FIRST layer of the flower is made by hand NOT with a die cut.  I don't own any dies yet.  Yes, I have an electronic cutting machine but I don't have very many cartridges.
    • I do however have a flower punch that has a couple different very small flower shapes.  So, I took the five petal pointed flower and cut one layer.  Next, I traced the flower on a piece of cardstock and then sort of added a little bit of space and tried to mimic the same shape only a bit bigger.  It was a little hit and miss at first but I got the hang of it and ended up created four other sizes so that my five petal flower would end up having five layers.  Actually I didn't consciously choose the five and five, it sort of just happened that way.  Oh, and I got to use up scraps for this which was great!
    • Now applying the lesson learned from my last mistake where I glued the flower together FIRST and THEN inked the edges, this time I inked all the layers first BEFORE putting it together. EDUCATION!
    • I shaped each of the petals on all the layers, arranged the petals so that they overlaped each other and glued it all together, one layer at a time with a glue gun.
    • Lastly, for my cherry on top, I added a small red gemstone to the centre of the flower.
    • So seriously, it was a HUGE compliment that people thought I used a die to make it.
Lesson Learned:
  • The lesson I learned this time around is that before I ink and glue all the floral pieces together, I need to trace each of the layers so that I don't have to do it all from scratch each and every time I make one of them.  They are time consuming given all the worked involved and keeping a template will definitely save some time in the future.
INSIDE
 Recipe Continued:
  • As you can see, I kept the inside simple to just add my own message.
  • I printed out another of the same shape used on the front and applied the same steps to antiquing it up a bit.
So, there you have it, all the details in their fine print.  Hope the wait wasn't too long!

Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
Cricut Cartridge Used:
  • Elegant Edges

Wonderful Wednesdays: Enticing Embellishments & a Blissful Banner--Final Items for August Kit

Hello my lovely peeps.  Good thing I can communicate by typing as I still don't have a voice.  I'm afraid that this month's kit will be a bit sparse given my illness and inability to spend much time at the computer.  However, since I didn't do anything last week and this is the final Wednesday of the month, I had to at least offer a couple more items for the kit.  Today I have some Enticing Embellishments and a Blissful Banner.

First up I have these cute flip flops under the category of Enticing Embellies...

They are created using a template from Brooke Gazarek over at Pixel Scraper

Next up is this matching Blissful Banner...
This banner was created completely from scratch.  I created the basic shape in Inkscape and then finished it off in Photoshop Essentials 5.

Both creations are in png format.

Hope you like my final offerings for this month's kit and can find some use for them.  If you have missed the previous ones, or if you are new to the site, you can go HERE and HERE to grab the other items for this month's kit. To find items from previous kits look for Wonderful Wednesdays or look under the individual names of the month, i.e. January Kit in the label section.  If you create a project using one of these images or any of the images I create, I'd love to see them and post them into the 'Your Gallery' portion of the blog.

Next month brings with it a whole new theme so stay tuned.

Until next time,

Congratulatory Considerations for July

A thousand mea culpa's sent your way. Before I begin, I must apologize for a)getting this post out so late; and b) for it being incomplete.  I have come to the conclusion, I am not Wonder Woman and as such I am not going to get everything done that I would like.  As much as I want to celebrate all your successes, keeping up with them is taking a significant amount of time that I seem to keep losing through one reason or another.  So, to continue future editions of this post, I am going to have to come up with a better system.  I may have to resort to a simple congratulations list but not get into the actual details of the wins.  Possibly something like, "Congrats to A for her 7 wins this month and her six top three placements."  Listing the individual wins and then linking up to those blogs is just taking too much time.  I'd love to continue with the system I have, noting each individual success but that no longer seems realistic.  I also have to apologize because I have made the executive decision that there will not be a Congratulatory Considerations post for August.  It is now the 26th and I have only three things on my list.  Therefore, I will try and start fresh in September once again but with the changes mentioned above.  Also, as mentioned above, this month will be incomplete as I was only able to track to the end of the third week in July.  I apologize if I have missed something really important.

All that being said, it is time to celebrate all of your accomplishments for the majority of July--well as many of you as I can and whose achievements I have come across anyways!  If you are new to my blog, this post is based on an idea I had in order to celebrate the successes of all the new people in my life.  On the last day of each month (or close to it), I will create a post congratulating all my bloggy friends and acquaintances on their successes, anniversaries, milestones, achievements, etc.  Of course, these will be strictly the items that I have come across during the month in my travels to the challenge blogs I have personally entered or are a team member of, or on my visits to personal blogs.  There will be many things I'll miss so please don't take offense if you have achieved a success and you don't find your name listed here.  I wish I had the time to check everyone and everywhere but I'd need a cloning machine to pull it off and I believe human cloning is still illegal.  So for now, if you or someone you know has an achievement and you would like to have it included here, contact me by email before the end of the month or just include the information in the comment section of each 'Congratulatory Considerations' post.

I am aware of the following reasons for sending out congratulations to members within our community.   So ladies, bask in the glow of the congratulatory candle.  You all deserve the successes you have achieved!  These are listed strictly in the order of when I came across them, not necessarily in any chronological order.

PIA--Pia's Papir og Perler
JULIE--Truly Julie
NICK (HELENE)--Nick's Scrap Shack
FIT KITTY--KT Designs
DEANNE--Little Bit 'O Paper
DENISE--Thru the Looking Glass

DESIRE--Doing Life
VICKY--Crafting-Vicky
  • Vicky won challenges at:
    • CYASL Challenge Blog
    • Sketch Saturday
    • Another win at a blog challenge I couldn't identify
  • She placed in the top tier for the following challenges:
SUZE--Craftysuze
  • To top it off, she also was a pre-hop and blog hop winner over Sassy Studio Designs.
  • Finally, Suze was spotlighted on ClearlyiStamps Blog as she used one of their images in a challenge that they were sponsoring.
SANDY--Scribbles By Sandy
  • Recently, my good friend Sandy hit the 200 followers mark and you know what that means, it is time to celebrate.  So, first off...
  • I've also made a badge for your sidebar.  It is 250 px wide to fit most sidebars.  You can always shrink if if necessary.  Anyone who'd like to congratulate Sandy is also welcome to take a copy of this badge.

As far as my accomplishments for this month...
  • I actually managed to win over at Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge.  Some of the sponsors are now offering additional prizes for people who enter both cards and I managed to get chosen.  It has been so long since I won anything, I forgot what it felt like.

So the candle burns brightly for all these wonderful ladies along with those of you who have had accomplishments I'm unfamiliar with.  Don't forget, if you'd like to see an achievement celebrated here next month, contact me before the 30th of September or just include the details in the comment section of the next 'Congratulatory Considerations' post when it comes out.

Until next time,

P.S.  It is possible that I have made mistakes as I gather these throughout the month and unfortunately, I just don't have the time to go back and verify.  If you noticed a specific mistake, let me know and I'll fix it up as soon as I can.

Image Information:
The background image of the candle is a picture in the public domain.  The artist is Anna Langova and you can find this particular photo HERE at PublicDomainPictures.net.
