Happy Valentine's Day: Being Thankful For the People in Our Lives

Since today is in recognition of the people in your life that you love the most, I've decided to dedicate this post to one of the people I'm most thankful for.  This particular person is my biggest fan, my biggest cheerleader, my biggest supporter; the person I was meant to be with--my wonderful husband Raymond.  Raymond and I have been through a lot of challenges during the course of our marriage but we have stuck by each other through thick and thin.  Tonight we will sit back, have a nice supper and just be with each other.  We don't need to go anywhere extravagant or exchange expensive gifts to prove our love to each other.  Simply spending time together is all we need.

Today I'm going to show you one of the very first cards I ever posted.  99% of you will never have seen it since it was originally posted on my website before I ended up with Blogger.  This card was in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the day Raymond & I started going out back in October 1987.  This is one of my most favourite cards.  From the colours to the die-cut, I just love everything about it.

Here is the front of the card...

Here is the inside of the card...

Digital Image:
  • Image of the key on the inside is from San's Designs.  It is coloured using Copic(R) markers: E31, E33, E37 and the colourless blender.  White was added in using a Recollections Signature Special marker.
Digital Sentiment:
  • Inside:  The sentiment on the inside is one I created.
Paper Products:
  • Card base: Basic brown cardstock from Dollarama.
  • Designer Papers The brown and aqua-like damask paper along with the single coloured aqua-like patterned paper are both from the Recollections Mosaic Memory Paper Pad; the dark brown paper with glitter treatment I used as a silhouette is from the Recollections Signature Special: Charming Paper Pad.
Die-Cuts:
  • I used the Cricut Paper Lace II cartridge to make the heart and heart silhouette on the front. I then used the silhouette as a template to help me cut out around the sentiment on the inside.
Ribbon:
  • Dark brown satin ribbon (front):  Crafts brand.
  • Gold ribbon (inside): Offray ribbon.
Now, I wanted to offer up this sentiment for you but have changed it around a bit offering it in a few different versions.  I found a key from Snip Snap Scraps that I'm able to incorporate with designs that I can give away as freebies.  If you use the image with the key, you will not be able to sell projects that you create as the key is for personal use only.  However, in case you'd like to use the sentiment, I've provided it without the key embedded into the design and this you are allowed to use according to the rules of my angel policy.  Additionally, if you'd like to incorporate the key yourself and are handy at design, just go and get it yourself HERE, add it to my sentiment and then, as long as you abide by my terms and Cheryl's you can then use it on projects you intend to sell.  If any of this is unclear or if you have any questions, just drop me an email message.

That should provide you with a few different options to use.  If you make use out of any of them, I'd love to see what you come up with.

I hope that you have the opportunity to spend time today with the people that you love the most.  Whether it is in person, on phone or by Skype, don't forget to remind them of how thankful you are that they are in your life.

And to you Raymond my love, know that you have my whole heart, today and always.

Until next time,

Note: I apologize if there are any formatting issues.  This is a scheduled post and we all know Blogger has a mind of it's own.  If it turns out that something looks wonky, i.e.--part of the sentence a different size than the rest, I'll fix it as soon as I'm able to.

  • Do not claim the image as your own.
  • Credit 'Decosse's Dynamite Doodles' somewhere on your creationIf you use the version with the Key, you must also credit Snip, Snap, Scrap.  Only the image without the key may be used on hand made projects you indtend to sell.  Please refer to the specifics of my angel policy with regards to selling.
  • Do not share my images with family, friends, etc.  Additionally, do not post any images to file sharing services like Box®, 4-Shared®, etc.  Instead, please direct people to my blog so they can grab the image for themselves.
  • If I have signed an image, do not delete my signature.
  • Leave a comment on my blog.  It is currently the only way for me to know if any of my freebies are being nabbed.  Additionally, it will help to inspire me to continue to create and offer future freebies.

Browns and creams are one of my favorite color combinations, as they can be used for all sorts of occasions and cards, giving them quite an elegant look, like this one. I like decorative cards without the use of any image, the beauty is in the simplicity of the design and the elegance of the papers and details.
