Sunday Spotlight: February 24, 2013

If you are just visiting for the first time, it is that time of week when I say a particular thank you to one of my readers acknowledging them for something thoughtful, inspiring, or mindful that they have said in one of their comments.  It is not just about flattery, although that is nice sometimes too.  It is about walking away from the comment and wanting to touch on and explore an idea they have presented.  Sometimes it might just be one or two words that they have said that reaches out and elicits a response in me.

As a way of saying thanks, I will present this person with an advanced copy of a freebie that I promise, no one else will be able to get their hand on for at least three months and possibly longer.  Although given how busy I am in February, it may take a little longer than usual for me to get it to the winners.

So without further ado, the comment I'm highlighting and reflecting on this week belongs to...

Lisa, You have amazed me with your very wonderful card and that you take time to write such an infomative blog is a blessing to us all. I usually get a card done just as the sun sets so I wait until the next day for pictures. We love seeing you artwork at WAW. Carole on Card Design: QKR Challenge #26--Anything Goes

I've been wondering lately if anyone even reads half of what I write when it comes to the information I include in my card design posts, i.e., marker choices, paper products, embellishments, etc.  It takes a lot of time and I was starting to wonder if it was worth it.  When I first started adding cards to my blog, I decided that I wanted to include what I would like to see when going over to other blogs.  Especially when it comes to marker colour choices.  While I do see card recipes on some blogs, many don't bother with all the extra details.  I can certainly understand why.  It does take a significant amount of extra time to keep track of everything used and then write about it.  There have been some days when I've been really rushed, like the Christmas card caper escapades, and haven't been able to take the time to add the extras so I did start to wonder if anyone noticed when I did.   However, thanks to Carole and a couple other people who have thanked me for including some specific details, I've decided to continue to do so.  There still might be days when I can't, but anyone wanting specifics is always welcomed to email me for them.  So, thank you Carole and all the others who have let me know in a round about way that you are interested in all the little details and that I haven't been wasting my time.

  • Fabulous Spotlight Lisa. • Oh Lisa LOL! I don't mean to laugh at you, but with you. Now that it's over I'm sure you can see the comic relief in it. :) We've all had our plans screwed up from time to time...I believe there's a saying that goes "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans." You obviously didn't need to practice, the card came out great! Love ya ~Deb~ on Card Design: Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge #1--Card One
  • You are fabulous!!! You promote me better than I promote myself, lol Thank you Lisa, you are such an amazing support to me and I cherish our friendship. You are beautiful. hugs P.S. Love the snippit and the teasing!! Naomi on Bit By the Bug Tuesday: Lolly
It is getting harder and harder every week for me to choose comments to highlight.  There are just too many wonderful ones to choose from.  Additionally, as much as I would like to, it is getting more difficult to respond to each individual comment coming in.  As my responsibilities increase with new DT and GDT obligations and with my effort to ensure that I keep up with all my weekly posts, the time I have available decreases.   I so, so appreciate the time and energy you put into visiting my blog and leaving me a note to reflect on throughout the week.  I know you see this same closing line at the end of each spotlight but I really do mean what I say.

Until next time,

I agree with you on the card 'recipe' deets Lisa... it is very time consuming and not something I particularly did in the past. Sometimes now I put some basics on there but never bother with all the codes for the Copics I used etc. That would drive me nuts to have to do that. !!!
I am so glad you are enjoying your DT work and I do look forward to seeing your creations :-)

I personally love when people give a minimum of information on their cards (like name of image, sentiment and the dies especially that they use) I'm totally die crazy... so I've purchased lots of them through this. For the image and the sentiment I don't always put it in the text but it's in the label of my post so that people can refer to that. There's also been many that comment that they will go and purchase them.

oh my... I've done a comment almost as long as your post lol Thanks for your hard work Lisa!!! We don't always say it but it's really appreciated.
