Promotional Post: Scribbles Designs Challenge # 7 Midway Point

Can you believe that it is the first of August already?  Incredible!  The summer is halfway over.  For that matter, so is the current challenge over at the Scribbles Design Challenge blog.  But, don't worry as there is still two whole weeks left for you to come on over and enter. The theme this month is 'Celebrate The Nation'.  Use the colours of your nation as a jumping point and go from there.
Entering is super simple:
  • You do not need to use a Scribbles Designs image; however, if you do, your name gets entered into the draw twice.  You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE or you can find some free sentiments from Sandy's personal blog HERE.
  • Follow the theme of the challenge.
  • Enter as many times as you'd like.
  • Combine your entry with other challenges.
  • New projects/cards only - no back linking.
You have until 9pm PST on August 14th to come over and play with us. Winners, chosen by Random.org, receive 3 digital images; additionally, there will be 1 digital image handed out for each of the Top 3, chosen by the Scribbles Designs Design Team.

I had a chance to create a project to help provide you with a little extra inspiration.  Here are the card details.  I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  •  This card did not end up the way I had originally planned.  I had really wanted to have no DP at all and just let the backgroud speak for itself.  Flat just wasn't going to work however so when I was at Michael's picking up some needed supplies this week, I decided to use one of my 40% off coupons and get an embossing folder.  Now, you have to understand that I don't have an embossing machine.  I can't afford something like that right now; however, it is on my wishlist right beside the Bamboo Create tablet. Both run around $200 dollars so I'm going to have to prioritize as to which one I save for first.  Anyways, I hate not being able to emboss anything.  I had done some reading on line and checked out some tutorials on You Tube and that made it look so easy to do just by using the embossing folder and a rolling pin.  Well, I'm hear to tell you it is not so easy.  I mean I never expected to get a really deep emboss but what I ended up with was pitiful and those were the Hub's muscles doing the work, not mine!  At one point, he had the embossing folder on the floor and was down on hands and knees trying to put as much weight into it as possible; but alas, it was to no avail.  We managed to get a few circles around the very edge but that was the extent of it.  I just thought it would have looked so cool with a bright red background with embossed dots given the rest of the design.  However, given that it didn't work I had to go with the DP.
FRONT

Digital Image:
  • Hand Tangle:  Okay, I am SERIOUSLY in love with all of Sandy's tangle doodles.  The intricacies of her designs are just absolutely stunning.  As I didn't want to take anything away from the beauty of the image the way it is, I just recoloured it to match the colour scheme I was going with for our Celebrate the Nation theme.  Of course, red and white are my proud Canadian colours.  Clicking on the watermark will take you to its location in the store.
  •  Here is a closer look all done up in red...
 Digital Sentiment:
  • One I created.

Embellishments:
  • The little half pearls are Crafts brand from Dollarama.

INSIDE

Digital Image:
  • Hand Tangle:  While it is a little more difficult to see, I added some washed out versions of the same hand tangle.  This time I duplicated it and then rearranged the two of them so that it looked like one hand was reaching for the other.  Here is a closer look...

 Digital Sentiment:
  • One I created to match up with the front.  As soon as I saw this tangle I knew exactly the sentiment I wanted to create to go with it.  They just seem to go hand-in-hand don't they? ;O)
Embellishments:
  • The little half pearls are Crafts brand from Dollarama.  Now I never intended to use them on the inside.  However, I had to recentre my piece so many times that I ripped a little corner of the paper.  You have to understand that it was going on 2:30 am at this point so after a little screaming fit, I said to myself, "Self, we can recover from this" and we I decided to cover up the mistakes with the same half pearls from the front.  In the end, I think it added something to the inside of the card that was missing.

OVERALL
Paper Products:
  • Card base, frame and pennant: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Designer Paper:
    •  Plaid pattern (front & inside)--Recollection's Bright & Basic Paper Pad
Challenges I wish to enter include:
  • Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to actually enter a challenge or two later this week and/or month.

I and the team would love to see what you create, so if you haven't already, please enter into our current challenge.  Scribbles is always a fun place to be!

Until next time,

Hi Lisa, You should be able to get a Cuddlebug cheaper than $200. Go to Cricut.com and see what it will cost. They have promotions all the time.
I love your card. It is very pretty. My favorite part is your sentiments. Thanks for sharing. Edwina Brown
