Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenge #87--Citrus Blues

Happy first Monday in November everyone!  If you have been with me for awhile you know that Monday mornings mean a new challenge over at Digi Darla's.

This week for Challenge #87 the theme is "Citrus Blues".  Yup, it is a colour challenge and we have a beautiful palette from ©Design Seeds to provide you with your inspiration.  Clicking on the image should bring you to the original DS post.

One person will be the lucky winner of FIVE Digi Darla (DD) images!  AND any entries using a DD image get entered into a SECOND drawing for THREE images. So, you could technically win eight images!  If you do use one of Kim's wonderful images make sure you let us know by writing DD after your name when you enter.

I've used the following Digi Darla's digi in my project this week:

Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Comments:

  • I realize it may seem a bit odd to pair up the idea of using bright colours and a sympathy card.  However, I think I have made it work.  At least I hope that I've made it work...
  • This card needs to go overseas so I decided to keep it flat.

FRONT
Digital Sentiment:
  • ...In Your Loss: You can find this beautiful sentiment in the DD store by clicking on the image name or watermark linked above.
    • I brought the sentiment into Photoshop Essential 5, along with a swatch of the background paper to colour match.  I then coloured in the flowers and leaves and changed the overall colour of the lines and text.
Paper Products:
  • Digital Designer Paper:
    • It was difficult but I finally was able to find an existing paper that I thought picked up on all the orange tones of the palette.  The pretty paper that I have used on the front of this card is available for free over at {computer}scrapbook.comIt was designed by Doris Castle and comes from the Heart & Soul kit.

INSIDE
Digital Sentiment:
  • This is another of the awesome sentiments available from the talented Sharon over at A Piece of Heart. This sentiment is perfect for my card this week and it is still available as a freebie if you are interested.  Click on the watermark below to go to the page where you can grab it.  Don't forget to leave Sharon some love if you do.

Paper Products:
  • Digital Designer Paper:
    • Even though the paper I used on the inside is from a different kit, I think it matches well to the one on the front and it certainly pulls in more of the colours from the colour palette.  The paper that I have used on the inside of the card is also available for free over at {computer}scrapbook.com.  This particular paper was designed by Rachel Dickson and comes from the Funky kit.

OVERALL
Card Base:

  • Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, Cool Water Collection.
Digital Embellishments
  • The digital frames (front and inside), although they are two different ones, are also from the Funky kit.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...
  • We'll see if I can find the time this week to do so.

So, how about you come on over and show us YOUR incredible take on this week's colour challenge by entering this week over at Digi Darla's Challenges?  While you are there please check out the great projects from the rest of the design team.  We always look forward to seeing the delightful creations you come up with.

Until next time,

Lisa you done a great job with this challenge. I love how you used the stripy paper as a frame around the image and then on the inside of the card. It looks awesome!

Have a great week!
