Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenge #55--Flowers

It is a brand new week and over here the week begins with the latest challenge over at the delightful Digi Darla's Challenges Blog. This time around for Challenge #55 the theme is Flowers.

Don't forget that one person will be the lucky winner of FIVE Digi Darla (DD) images!  AND any entries using a DD image get entered into a SECOND drawing for 3 images. So, you could technically win 8 images! Just think of all the wonderful projects you could make with all those digis.

This week I got to work with:
Here is the front of the card I am showcasing for this week's challenge...

Here is the inside...

Here are the card details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • With one teammate down, it's all cards on deck over at Digi Darla's to send her well-wishes.  My fellow DT member, Denise fell down and broken her right arm badly enough that she required surgery.   This after having suffered with a migraine for five days.  Man, and I thought my luck was bad sometimes.  If you have ever come across Denise P. during your travels, you know she is an incredibly sweet and supportive person; so, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she embarks on the road to mending.
  • So, with that thought in mind, I created a get-well card for Denise as part of our challenge this week.  I hope it makes it all the way to Texas in one piece and sometime before summer hits.  Our postal service up here is not known for its speedy reliability.
Digital Images:
  • Coloured Poppies (front):  The image on the front of the card is Digi Darla's Poppy Oval Color.
  • It doesn't get anymore CAS than this!  This is the perfect image to take centre stage on the card.  There is such a great contrast between the red and white and the little red brads just add the right finishing touch.
  • Coloured images are great for those times when you need to put a card together quickly but still want it to reflect your style.
  • Poppies (inside):  The image on the inside of the card is Digi Darla's Poppy Oval.  This image, which is the black and white version of the one on the front, is great for those of you who don't like to use coloured images.  I shrunk it down and layered it in behind the sentiment to help tie in the front with the inside.  I recoloured it to match the red from the poppies on the front and also the DP on the inside.
Digital Sentiment:
  • Get well soon (inside):  The sentiment comes from Christine over at Mudmaven.  It is a bit ironic or maybe fortuitous that the card I'm creating is a 'get well' card considering that Christine herself is currently suffering from kidney stones which were supposed to be removed on Thursday.  I'm hoping all went well with the surgery or blasting or whatever it was they did to help her get rid of them.  It has been recoloured to match the browny-red colour of the DP.
Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Designer Papers:  Floral paper (inside)--K & C Company Designer Paper--red colours collection.
  • While I kept the front CAS I wanted a bit more of a punch for the inside.  I thought that this poppy themed paper was perfect.  I had some leftover from another card I did a few weeks back so I got to use some of my stash up too.  It is always a good thing when I don't have to grab something new.  Better on the pocketbook and on the environment at the same time.
Embellishments:
  • Red brads--Dollarama.
Challenges I hope to enter include:
Some more challenges may be added to this list later this week and/or month.

So, why not come and play with us over at Digi Darla's Challenges?  While you are there please check out the wonderful creations from the rest of the design teamWe always look forward to seeing your entries.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  As I've now added to my comment section, whether you are a regular, here for the first time or popping over in your official capacity as a DT member, please know how much I appreciate the words that you leave behind.  Your encouragement helps me to become a better designer.   I try my best to reply to your comments (when an email address is available) but that is getting more and more difficult as my plate fills up with new responsibilities, new roles, and new obligations.  If I don't get the opportunity to thank you personally, know that I don't take a single comment for granted. Thank you for your understanding.

Until next time,

Note: I apologize if there are any further formatting issues.  This is a scheduled post and we all know Blogger has a mind of it's own.  If it turns out that something looks wonky, i.e.--part of the sentence is a different size, font, or colour than the rest, I'll fix it as soon as I'm able to.
