Card Design: Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge #8-First Card

It was a month ago yesterday that I brought you my first card for the last LAPCC challenge.  Holy Hanah Banana time is whizzing by quickly!  Well it is time for my first card for this month's challenge and not a day too soon since the challenge closes sometime late tomorrow.  Doesn't give me a whole lot of time to get my second card done but it is underway and hopefully I'll finish it tonight.

Let's start with the usual preamble, shall we...

Each month Lady Anne hosts a progressive Christmas Challenge where we get two images to play with.  As long as we submit a card with at least one of them, we are eligible to receive two more the next month.  Awesome arrangement.

I have to admit I've lost count of how many Christmas cards are in the pot now.  There has to be at least 16 once I get my second card for this month completed but I know that I have at least two others that I've done for Digi Darla challenges so that should put it up to 18.  However, given that I'm giving at least 10 to my momma as a Christmas gift that doesn't leave me with many for myself to send out.  Oh, oh...there may indeed be a return of the Christmas card panic again this year.

This month the sponsor is...

Here is my card and details.  I hope I don't forget anything...

General Information:
  • Once again, I'm sorry for the poor picture quality as I had to scan my card.  For example, when you look at the snowman, it looks as though there is a shadow hanging over it.  However, it is simply because the image of the bear is raised and that is it casting a rather large shadow.

 FRONT

Digital Image:
  • As mentioned earlier, the image of the bear having chopped down his Christmas branch is from QKR Stampede.
    • I coloured it with Copic Markers.  However for the sake of expediency today, I am unable to list my colour choices.
    • After colouring the image, I fussy cut it, inked the edges with the various marker colours and then popped it up on my card.  Unfortunately, because I had to scan it, you cant see the dimensionality.
Digital Sentiment:
  • The circular sentiment is from San's Design.  If it looks familiar, I used a similar one on my last card for the LAPCC.  It is from a freebie set, I got quite awhile ago.
    • I used Copic Markers to colour in the holly and berries.
Paper Products:
  • Designer Papers (DP):
    • Once again I was able to take a leftover part of paper that had an existing scene going across the bottom.  I thought it was perfect for this card.  The paper used is from Recollection's All Seasons Paper Pad.
    • The two strips I used for pennants are also made from scraps and they are both from the Recollection's Bright Christmas paper pad.

INSIDE
Digital Sentiment:
  • I kept the inside very CAS and just added one of the sentiments I offered up last year as a Holiday Handout.  If you are new to my blog and interested in obtaining over 22 freebie images related to the Christmas season, just click on Holiday Handout in the label section and you should be able to find them all.
    • Since the sentiment on the front had stitching and then a solid line around the outside, I decided to do the same thing to the one on the inside and just added a couple boxes around it in Publisher before printing it out.
    • I then cut it out and added it straight onto the card base on the inside.

Challenges I am entering:

Hopefully I will get a chance to finish the second card and be back to show it to you tomorrow.

Until next time,

HEHEHEH!!! Adorable doesn't even begin to describe this card. I love cards that tell 'stories'. I can just imagine this him going out to chop down a christmas tree for his family... what a happy little guy he is.

Lisa, This is wonderful. Love the scene. The inside font is terrific. I love that. You need to teach me how to use fonts that are not on my computer. Thanks for sharing. Edwina Brown
