Card Design: A Heartfelt Sympathy Card using San's Design

Hello my fine bloggy friends.  I hope that you are all well and not suffering too badly from the severe heat hitting many parts of the world.  It is time to showcase another card using one of San's wonderful images.  This time I've gone back in time and am using an image she created awhile ago.

Today I have a sympathy card to share with you.  It was created using one of San's older heart images. I actually made the card back in May so I think it is finally time I present it.

I just love the intricacies of this heart.  I brought it into Photoshop Essentials 5 and coloured it digitally to match the tones of the DP I used on the inside of my card.   As it is a card for a sombre occasion, I wanted to keep the card clean and simple and make the heart the focal point of the piece.

If you are interested in purchasing this image, please click on the watermark below and it will take you to its location in the store.

SN00122--Valentine Scrollwork

Here is the inside of my card...

I've used my own sentiment which you can find HERE.  It is a freebie and available in one image or separated into two like the one I used in my card above.

Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, Preppy Beach collection.
  • Designer Paper: Floral paper (inside)--K & C Company Designer Paper--Best of...florals collection.
  • Shimmery taupey-bone coloured cardstock (shadow inside) --Michael's open stock scrapbook paper.

Challenges I hope to enter include:
  •  None at this time.  I need a secretary right now to be able to continue to keep up with entering and checking challenges.  If I have the opportunity, I'd like to join a challenge or two sometime later this week and/or month.
Well that is it for this post.  Stick around because the latest quest in the treasure hunt will be out later today.  If you don't know what I'm referring to then check out the post by clicking HERE.  You'll find out everything you need to know in order earn 10 different digital papers that are part of a set I've called, "Living on the Edge".

May each of your days be filled with love and laughter, and of course crafty goodness.  We never know how many of them we'll get, so make each of them count!

Your place to go for amazing digital designs and card inspiration!

Card Design: Path of Positivity Challenge #4 Final Reminder

It is the final week in our current challenge over at the Path of Positivity.  In case you've missed it, this month's challenge revolves around the concept of CARING.  Last night I managed to pull everything together that I needed to create this card to highlight this wonderful positive concept.

Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • Once again, serendipity stepped in to save me some time as the image in the Delightful Inspirations progressive challenge fit perfectly with the theme of caring and afforded me the opportunity to use it in my reminder card for the Path of Positivity.

 FRONT

Digital Image:
  • Painting Ladybug Digital Stamp Set:  As I mentioned in my general information section, I was lucky enough this month to be able to combine my Delightful Inspirations progressive stamp of the month challenge with this month's Path of Positivity Challenge theme.  In order to enter the DI progressive challenge, you must either have received the latest image by having participated in the previous month or you can buy the stamp for the current month's challenge.  Everyone who enters and follows the rules is a winner because you automatically get the stamp for the next month's challenge and what amazing stamps they are.  Stop by the site and check out the rules for yourself.  While you are there, have a look around.  They have some really great images.  You can find this set in the store by clicking on the watermark below.

    • This image was coloured in using a combination of Copic markers and digital colouring for some aspects.
      • Copic markers used:  C5, C7, 100, R22, R24, R29 (ladybug);  C3, C5, E21, E23, E25, B02, B05 (paintbrush & paint); B02, B05, BG15, BG18, R24, R29 (paint dots on flowers); Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17, BV000, BV00, BV02, RV00, RV02, RV04, R32, R35, YR00, YR02, YR04 (flowers); YG61, YG63, YG67 (leaves).
      • The sky and clouds, along with the grass, were created digitally in Photoshop Essential 5.  Digital Credits include:
    •  Here is a closer look:

Embellishments:
  • The sparkly metallic flowers I've used are all Crafts brand from Dollarama.

INSIDE

Digital Image:
  • The cute little ladybug duo is the most recent release from Creative Bug Digitals.  You can find it in the store by clicking on the watermark below.  You also have an opportunity to win a copy of it by clicking HERE and following the instructions.

    • Due to the small size of the image I was working with, I chose to use my coloured watercolour pencils to colour it in.  Using the markers would have obliterated it.
Digital Sentiment:
  • This sentiment is part of the set available from From the Heart Stamps.  Link available above by clicking on set watermark.
  • Apparently I'll have to send this card to one of my American friends, or one of Canadian friends who chose to spell 'colour', the American way--'color'. There are at least two of them that I'm aware of because I always have this itch to correct their spelling when I see their posts. ;O)
OVERALL
Paper Products:
  • Card base, strip on front and shadow (front & inside): Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, red.
  • Designer Paper:
    • The colourful paper (front & inside) is from Recollection's Bold Basics Paper Pad.
Challenges I hope to enter include:
Some more challenges may be added to this list later this week and/or month.

Now the sentiment I am going to share with you all today is one that has been pretty popular with the DT this month.  A couple of them used it at the challenge start, and a couple of them used it in the projects I'm showcasing today.  To see the latest post with fabulous inspiration from two of our team members, click HERE.  As for the sentiment they used, you can find it below...

As always, the quotes are much larger than they appear but can easily be reduced in size without distorting the image.  I need to make them rather large because when they are imported into programs like Word or Publisher, they end up rather small and then it becomes difficult to enlarge them without affecting the quality of the image.  This quote is in png format at 300 dpi.

I'm rather excited as we are up to 40 entries thus far!  However, there is always room for more so if you haven't entered already, please come and join in on the Path of Positivity this month.  Create a project and/or post that is positive AND relates to caring, provide an explanation of how your project and/or post relates to the theme somewhere in your post or come over and leave a comment with the explanation.  To find out more details and to enter the challenge, please click HERE.

I also hope you will join me over on The Path of Positivity this weekend.  There have been some changes to the DT and I will be introducing the newest member on Saturday.  Then, on Sunday, the Design Team will be sharing their favourite picks from Challenge #3.  Also just a reminder if you entered Challenge #3, you need to send me an email to claim your badge and prizes.  So far, not one of the four winners has contacted me.  If you entered a project, or left a comment after voting, you are eligible to win two of the four prizes available.  The remaining two prizes were awarded to participants chosen among the top seven.  If you missed the winner's post for challenge #3, you can check it out by clicking HERE.

Finally, on a personal blog note, I've got a treasure hunt going on right now.  You don't want to miss out on the fun and earning your chance to get your hands on 10 different digital papers.  If you are new to the hunt, you can check out the first post HERE and the second post HERE.  As soon as I finish up this post, I'll be getting day three's post ready.

As always, font details for the above quote, download instructions and a summary of my terms of use can be found below.

Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenge #73--Copy Cat

Hello friends!  It is early Monday morning as I sit and type up this post--very early.  It is going on 2:30 am and this is the closest I've pushed it, getting out a DT post in quite awhile.  As a result, I'm not going to be able to provide the amount of detail I normally would.  However, if you need to know any specifics, I'm only an email away.

It is time for this week's challenge over at the delectable Digi Darla's Challenges Blog. This week for Challenge #73 the theme is "Copycat".  Now those of you who have been with me for awhile may recognize the cute little image I used on my card, from one I did a few months ago.  Denise challenged us all with creating our projects with the same image this week.  It is amazing, how many variations there are to come up with, with just one single image.  I love the versatility of stamps for just that reason.

I've used the following Digi Darla's digi in my project this week:

Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Comments:
  •  I hope this card manages to stay in one piece as it heads to its recipient.  This will be the first card EVER that I send overseas.  That is one first, check out my other first on this card a little later.

FRONT

Digital Image:
  • Mouse: You can find this sweet image in the DD store by clicking on the  image name linked above.
    • This image was coloured in using Copic markers.  Grounding was added in with chalk.
Embellishments:
  • I am going to take a moment to discuss these flowers as I am pretty darn proud of them.  It is time for my second first, as these flowers are the first ever real paper flowers that I have made.  Go me!  I used a punch to cut out three layers of scrap cardstock, then shaped each of the petals, glued them together, then realized I should have inked them BEFORE gluing them together!  However, that is okay, we learn from our mistakes.  Now I just have to remember for next time.
  • The little green half pearls are Crafts brand from Dollarama.

Challenges I wish to enter include:
  • Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to actually enter a challenge or two later this week and/or month.

Well friends, it is now 2:45 am and if I want to head to bed by three as it's another packed day today, I better get going.

So, why not come and show us what you've got by entering in our current challenge this week over at Digi Darla's Challenges?  While you are there please check out the wonderful creations from the rest of the design teamWe always look forward to seeing the delightful creations you come up with.
Thank you so much for stopping by.  As I've now added to my comment section, whether you are a regular, here for the first time or popping over in your official capacity as a DT member, please know how much I appreciate the words that you leave behind.  Your encouragement helps me to become a better designer.   I try my best to reply to your comments (when an email address is available) but that is getting more and more difficult as my plate fills up with new responsibilities, new roles, and new obligations.  If I don't get the opportunity to thank you personally, know that I don't take a single comment for granted. Thank you for your understanding.

Wonderful Wednesdays: Radical Ribbons

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

Oh my, it is 8:30 pm, I still haven't been downstairs to start supper yet AND I FORGOT to get my Wonderful Wednesday post ready.  Therefore, this will be quick and dirty--but not too dirty, this is a G rated blog after all.

Okay for the last item of the month I offer up some Radical Ribbons.

Each ribbon is approximately 13 in. long by 1 in high so they are suitable for scrapping.  The size can also be reduced for cards and other projects.  To see the detail better, make sure you click on them to pull them up in the lightbox.  This is also where you should save them.  They are in png format.

Hope you like my final offerings for this month's kit and can find some use for them.  If you have missed the previous ones, or if you are new to the site, you can go HERE and HERE to grab the other items. To find items from previous kits look for Wonderful Wednesdays or look under the individual names of the month, i.e. January Kit in the label section.  If you create a project using one of these images or any of the images I create, I'd love to see them and post them into the 'Your Gallery' portion of the blog.

Next month brings with it a whole new theme so stay tuned.

Until next time,

Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenge #72--Christmas in July

Well hello there and a fine Monday morning to you all!  Or possibly a fine Monday afternoon or evening depending on where you are peeking in from.

It is time for this week's challenge over at the divine Digi Darla's Challenges Blog. This week for Challenge #72 the theme is "Christmas in July".  Yay!  Another chance to celebrate Christmas and another chance to cross off one more card from the Christmas Card Panic List.  I believe I am officially up to 14 in the pot.  Woo hoo!  Since I plan on giving away at least 10 of them to my Momma as part of her Christmas gift, that leaves four left for me.  That pot isn't looking so full anymore and the panic is rising slightly.  Maybe I shouldn't have worked that all out just yet.  Oh well, it is okay, I'll just grab a little Christmas cheer and wash all the anxiety away.

As always, one person will be the lucky winner of FIVE Digi Darla (DD) images!  AND any entries using a DD image get entered into a SECOND drawing for THREE images. So, you could technically win eight images!  If you do use one of Kim's wonderful images make sure you let us know by writing DD after your name when you enter.

I've used the following Digi Darla's digi in my project this week:

Here are the card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

FRONT

Digital Images:
  • Owl Wreath: You can find the owl wreath in the DD store by clicking either the watermark or image name linked above.
    • This image is precoloured which is a wonderful time saver.
    • Here it is up close...
Digital Sentiment:
  • This sentiment is made by me.  I added it inside the circle before printing it out.
Embellishments:
  • The cool snowflakes are from a new stash that I just got from a recent visit with my momma as she had some more goodies that she needed to get rid of.

INSIDE

Digital Images:
  • Label: This is one of the labels from the set that was released on Saturday over at San's Design.  Now I'm not sure what happened, but the promotional post I had scheduled didn't go out on time and when I did publish it, it put itself in the published list under the original date so now I don't know if anyone is going to see it.  Therefore, if you didn't get a chance to check out all the newest Christmas releases over at San's, click HERE for that post.
  • Decorative pin:  The cool star topped decorative pin I used is from Beyond the Fringe Crafts.  Carmen, another proud Canadian, has some really amazing images and oodles of freebies which this one was.  You can grab it and four others from the same post HERE.  I was still an anonymous commenter at the time I grabbed them.  I didn't know then what I'd use them for and to be honest I really haven't known how to use these types of images since.  However, it just came to me for this challenge, that this might be the perfect opportunity to put one to use!
    • It is coloured in using Copics:  Y13, Y15, Y17, R35, R39, YG63, YG67.
Digital Sentiment:
  • This sentiment is made by me to match the front.
